10 Hobbies that are Worth Adding to Your New Year’s Plans

It’s New Year’s, that beautiful time of the year again. During this time, we tend to get into the very popular trend of revamping everyone’s resolutions. Well, let’s admit it; half of those resolutions don’t live to see the end of January. So why not change the rules a bit? Rather than penning down aggressive goals, one could take up some nice skills that are, apart from being enjoyable, enriching too.

Here are ten hobbies that can be useful for you this year, and who knows? They might just get you into a new passion for life.

1. Gardening: Creations Beyond Plants

Gardening is not a preoccupation only of retirees or those who happen to be born with a green thumb. It is a very therapeutic activity, and it teaches patience. And, of course, nothing beats the taste of homemade pasta with home-grown basil or seeing your sunflowers bloom.

2. Cooking: Unlock Your Inner MasterChef

If you normally order food or get takeouts, it’s time to change that. Cooking can be a skill for survival, but sometimes, it’s more than that; it can be an art. Experimenting with new recipes, trying new cuisines, and mastering new techniques can be greatly satisfying. Even better, you can enjoy the fruits of your labour.

3. Painting or Drawing: Get Artsy

You don’t need to be Picasso to pick up a paintbrush. Painting or drawing can be a great way of letting out creativity and de-stressing. You can create anything from really simple watercolours to wild, abstract doodles. Best still: you can hang your creations up in frames and personalise your home.

4. Learning a Musical Instrument: Hit the Right Note

Have you always dreamed of strumming the guitar or playing the piano? The New Year is the best time to begin. Get private lessons or just learn online and surprise your family with a new skill the next time there’s a family get-together.

6. Photography: Capture the Beauty Around You

In the age of Instagram, photography might seem like an overdone hobby, but it’s much more than filters and hashtags. Exploring photography teaches you to see the world from unique perspectives. Whether it’s landscapes, portraits, or street photography, capturing moments can become a fulfilling way to express yourself.

7. DIY Crafts: Craft Your Heart Out

From knitting to woodworking to making your own candles, DIY crafts let you create something tangible and meaningful. It’s an excellent way to reduce stress while honing new skills. Plus, you can gift your handmade creations to your loved ones. It’s a win-win!

8. Fitness: Move for Joy, Not Pressure

Let’s reframe fitness as a hobby rather than a chore. Find an activity you genuinely enjoy; dance, yoga, hiking, or swimming. When exercise feels fun, it becomes sustainable. Not only does it improve your physical health, but it’s also a mood booster and stress reliever.

9. Learning a New Language: Unlock New Worlds

Ever wanted to order croissants in perfect French or binge K-Dramas without subtitles? Learning a new language is as practical as it is fun. Apps like Duolingo or Rosetta Stone make it easy to start, and who knows, your newfound skill might come in handy during future travels.

10. Volunteering: Make a Difference

If you’re looking for a hobby that’s fulfilling on a deeper level, consider volunteering. Whether it’s teaching kids, helping at an animal shelter, or organising community clean-ups, giving your time and energy to a cause can bring immense happiness and a sense of self-fulfilment.

So, as the New Year unfolds, consider partaking in hobbies not just as time-fillers but as tools for growth and joy. Remember, the best hobbies are the ones that make you lose track of time and fall in love with life all over again. Here’s to a year filled with passion, creativity, and plenty of new experiences!

During a consultation with the Pakistan Software Houses Association (PASHA), the chairman emphasised adopting international models for a streamlined registration framework. Efforts are underway to ensure a smooth and stakeholder-inclusive registration process.

S Korea Says Data Extracted from Jeju Air Crash Black Box Voice Recorder

Source: Sangba

South Korea is still reeling from its deadliest aviation disaster, as investigators work to uncover the causes behind the Jeju Air crash that claimed 179 lives at Muan International Airport. The Boeing 737-800, carrying 181 passengers and crew from Thailand, issued a mayday call before belly-landing and erupting into flames.

Black Box Analysis Crucial to the Investigation

Both aircraft’s black boxes were recovered. The preliminary data of the cockpit voice recorder were successfully extracted, and it was converted into an audio format for analysis of communications between the pilots. The flight data recorder is damaged severely. The South Korean Civil Aviation Ministry confirmed that it would be forwarded to the United States for further analysis as its domestic recovery seemed impossible.

This collaboration between the U.S. National Transportation Safety Board and Boeing would provide critical insight into the moments prior to the crash. The investigation will be interested in mechanical issues as well as external factors, that the role of the concrete barrier at the end of the runway plays.

Early Theories and Focus of Investigations

Initial reports speculated that a bird strike might have caused the crash. However, attention has shifted to potential landing gear failure and the interaction between the aircraft and the airport’s infrastructure.

The South Korean authorities have launched a special inspection of all Boeing 737-800 models in operation within the country. According to local media reports, the landing gear had deployed properly on the first attempted landing but failed during the second attempt, resulting in a disastrous crash.

Experts are also analysing the localiser system—a guidance aid mounted on the concrete structure involved in the accident—to establish if it heightened the intensity of the impact.

Tragedy for Victims and Families

Victims were comprised of families, friends, and travellers who were mostly South Korean nationals returning from holidays in Thailand. Only two flight attendants survived, dragged out of the burning wreckage.

The identification of victims has been a painful process for grieving families, as significant damage to the bodies complicated the work of forensic teams. The authorities announced that all victims have now been identified, and their families can hold funerals.

Next Steps

The joint probe with South Korean authorities, investigators from the U.S., and Boeing is going to provide an overall view of the crash. Analysis of black boxes, aircraft mechanical systems, and runway infrastructure will form the basis of the final report.

Altars for memorials are being erected across South Korea for the victims and have become an epitome of national mourning on the tragedy, which has indelibly engraved its mark into the country’s history of aviation. As this probe unfolds, the authorities want to ensure it never happens again in the future.

Elon Musk Changes His Name On X to ‘Kekius Maximus’

Elon Musk Changes His Name On X To 'Kekius Maximus'

The world’s richest man, Elon Musk, has sparked speculation after changing his name on his social media platform X to “Kekius Maximus.” The close confidant of US President-Elect Donald Trump offered no immediate explanation for the name or his new profile image that depicts the character Pepe the Frog – a meme that has been used by far-right groups.

The move has sent ripples through the cryptocurrency world, sending the value of a memecoin – a digital currency inspired by internet memes – skyrocketing. In the past, Mr Musk has influenced crypto prices with his social media commentary. However, it was not immediately clear if he had any involvement in this particular memecoin.

“Kekius” appears to be a Latinisation of “kek,” a word roughly equivalent to “laugh out loud” popularised by gamers. It is now often associated with the alt-right. “Kek” is also the name of the ancient Egyptian god of darkness, sometimes depicted with the head of a frog.

Many people would link “Maximus” to the name of Russell Crowe’s heroic character in the film Gladiator, Maximus Decimus Meridius. Mr Musk’s new profile image depicts Pepe in Roman military dress holding what appears to be a game console.

Astrologer says THIS Person will be the Next Prime Minister of Pakistan

Astrologer says THIS Person will be the Next Prime Minister of Pakistan

With the beginning of the new year, astrologer Saima Khan has predicted that Pakistan People’s Party’s Chairman, Bilawal Bhutto may become the Prime Minister of the country as well as a groom in 2025.

Bilawal Bhutto
Bilawal Bhutto

Saima recently appeared on a Khabar, an ARY News program, where she revealed that Shehbaz Sharif, Imran Khan and Maulana Fazlur Reman have the strongest stars currently in motion. Saima further revealed that in February 2025, Khan’s isolation will come to an end. In 2023, Saima was the same person who predicted that Imran Khan would be heading towards isolation.

Among the most pleasing predictions Saima made was that the country’s situation would improve. Moreover, 2025 is expected to be beneficial for the current Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif. As per the prediction related to Bilawal Bhutto, Saima said that his political stars seem to be very strong right now and she envisions him being rewarded soon.

Baba Vanga

Earlier, we saw the predictions of the blind psychic Baba Vanga make rounds regarding 2025. Vanga predicted that there would be a third world war in the following year. She even said that the disagreement between China and the United States would eventually turn into global conflict. Europe would be caught in the crossfire. The result, she predicted, might be catastrophic, with severe destruction and a sharp decrease in the global population.

Michel de Nostredame

Another set of predictions came from the enigmatic French astrologist and seer Michel de Nostredame. Earlier, Nostredame’s predictions have been linked to the rise of Napoleon, the World Wars, and even modern technological advances. One of his predictions for 2025 reads, “When those from the lands of Europe, see England set up her throne behind. Her flanks, there will be cruel wars. The kingdom will be marked by wars so cruel, foes from within and without will arise. A great pestilence from the past returns, no enemy more deadly under the skies.”

This suggests that there could be a possibility of England facing a dual crisis in 2025: brutal wars and the resurgence of plague. On the more positive side, he also predicted great strides in the medical field, similar to Baba Vanga’s predictions.

While no one really knows what 2025 has in store for the world or Pakistan, these predictions sure do stir curiosity and debate among people. Only time will tell what will happen.

WHO Urges China to Share More COVID-19 Data

WHO Urges China to Share More Covid-19 Data

China has defended its COVID-19 transparency after the World Health Organisation (WHO) called for more data and access to understand the origins of the pandemic. The disease first emerged in Wuhan in December 2020 and has since caused millions of deaths globally.

Responding to WHO’s statement on Monday, which called it a “moral and scientific imperative” for China to share more information, Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Mao Ning said China had made the “largest contribution to global origin tracing research.” She added, “Without holding anything back, we shared our prevention, control and treatment experience.”

Over the years, the WHO has criticised China for lacking transparency. The joint investigation in early 2021, conducted by WHO specialists and Chinese colleagues, favoured the hypothesis that the virus jumped from a bat to a human via an intermediary animal. However, WHO officials have not been able to return to China and continue asking for more data. Mao stated that “more and more clues” suggested COVID-19’s origins had a global scope and that China was “willing to continue working with various parties” to advance scientific origin tracing.

WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus warned that the world remains vulnerable to new pandemics. Despite lessons learned from COVID-19, countries face challenges in negotiating a treaty on pandemic prevention and response. Key issues include obligations to share pathogens and equitable access to vaccines. The treaty’s deadline is May 2025, as 194 members aim to strengthen global defences against future pandemics.
