Australia Dismantle West Indies for Just 27 in Shocking Test Collapse

australia-dismantle-west-indies-for-just-27-to-win-test

When history is made in Test cricket, it’s often through epic batting marathons or edge-of-the-seat finishes. But sometimes, it’s sheer destruction, and that’s exactly what unfolded in Jamaica, where Australia bulldozed the West Indies for just 27 runs to complete a 176-run win and seal a 3-0 series sweep.

A Collapse for the Ages

Let that number sink in: 27 all out. It’s the second-lowest total ever recorded in Test cricket and the worst since 1955. Only New Zealand’s 26 against England that year sits below it in the annals of the game’s most infamous collapses. For the West Indies, it was their lowest-ever total, crashing well past their previous worst of 47.

The third day of the day-night Test at Sabina Park turned into a horror show for the hosts. Chasing 204 for victory, a challenging but not impossible target, the West Indies were skittled in under 13 overs. The fall was fast, brutal and, in truth, hard to watch.

Starc the Destroyer

There’s something poetic about a bowler delivering his career-best spell in his 100th Test. Mitchell Starc did just that, tearing through the Windies top order with 6 for 9, a spell that included five wickets in just 15 balls.

That’s not just deadly bowling; that’s history. In fact, it’s now the fastest five-wicket haul in the history of Test cricket. His spell also carried another milestone, Starc’s 400th Test wicket.

Only three Australians have managed that before him: Shane Warne, Glenn McGrath and Nathan Lyon. And now Starc, already one of the best with the pink ball, joins the elite club in sensational style.

Boland Joins the Party with a Hat-Trick

As if Starc’s heroics weren’t enough, Scott Boland produced a hat-trick of his own, snatching three wickets in an over to dismantle what little was left of the West Indies innings. His victims included the only West Indian batter to reach double digits, Justin Greaves, who made 11. After that, it was just a matter of formality.

Captain Roston Chase didn’t hold back after the defeat. “It’s heartbreaking to be in a position where we think we can win the game and then come out and have that poor batting display,” he admitted.

What’s even more frustrating is that the Windies had earlier bowled out Australia for 121 in their second innings. Alzarri Joseph had done the damage with 5 for 27, giving his side a real sniff of a historic chase. Instead, they crumbled in spectacular fashion.

Mohammad Nawaz’s Return: A Case of Experience Over Form?

mohammad-nawaz-return-a-case-of-experience-over-form

When the Pakistan squad for the T20I series against Bangladesh was announced, one name on the list had fans scratching their heads: Mohammad Nawaz.

The left-arm all-rounder has been recalled to the national white-ball side, but the decision has triggered a fair share of debate. Given his recent form, many are asking the same question: Has Nawaz really done enough to earn this comeback?

The Numbers Don’t Favour Him

Let’s take a closer look. Mohammad Nawaz hasn’t featured in a T20I for Pakistan since January 2024, when he played against New Zealand. Since then, things haven’t exactly gone uphill.

He was released by Karachi Kings ahead of the PSL 10 draft and eventually picked up by Islamabad United. But even there, opportunities were few and far between, just four matches in the tournament.

In those limited outings, he managed 88 runs at a strike rate of 127.53 and picked up only two wickets. Not exactly eye-catching numbers.

And before that, in the Champions T20 Cup, he returned seven wickets in ten games while scoring 91 runs.

So, Why Was He Picked?

Pakistan’s T20I skipper Salman Ali Agha was quick to address the raised eyebrows on Monday. Speaking to the media during the white-ball camp, Salman said the decision to include Nawaz came purely as a like-for-like replacement for Shadab Khan, who is recovering from shoulder surgery.

“Nawaz was selected because of Shadab’s injury. Performance goes up and down — that’s why it is important to analyse the ability of a player,” Salman explained.

Experience Does Count, But Is It Enough?

There’s no denying that Mohammad Nawaz brings experience. Since making his T20I debut in 2016, he has featured in 60 matches, scoring 477 runs at a strike rate of 134.36 and taking 50 wickets at an average of 27.22.

Those aren’t world-beating numbers, but they are solid. He’s also been part of high-pressure games and understands the dynamics of international cricket, something a youngster may still be learning.

But with so many exciting all-round options in Pakistan’s domestic setup, is it fair to give another run to a player whose recent form hasn’t inspired much confidence?

Nawaz’s inclusion sends out a clear message: experience still holds weight in Pakistan’s selection room. However, it also opens up a larger discussion about how performance should be balanced with experience.

Whether or not Nawaz makes the most of this opportunity remains to be seen. But one thing is for sure, he’s on thin ice. With Shadab expected to return in the near future, and young players waiting in the wings, this could be Nawaz’s last real shot at redemption.

“No Talk of ODI Captaincy”: Salman Ali Agha Clears the Air Amid Rumours

inside-story-how-salman-ali-agha-landed-t20i-captaincy-role-play-against-big-teams-tanvir-ahmed-slams-salman-ali-agha

In a media landscape that thrives on speculation, Pakistan’s T20I skipper Salman Ali Agha has delivered a calm and candid response to recent reports suggesting he’s being lined up for the ODI captaincy.

While addressing reporters at the ongoing white-ball camp in Karachi, Salman made it clear that no formal discussions have taken place regarding him taking charge of Pakistan’s 50-over side. In fact, he playfully called out the media for fuelling the buzz.

“It was also being said about me that I’m becoming the captain of all three formats,” Salman remarked with a chuckle. “It was reported by you guys, I mean, you can say anything. But until now, I’ve had no discussions regarding the ODI captaincy.”

Rather than delve into the recent musical chairs of leadership, including brief stints by Mohammad Rizwan and Shaheen Shah Afridi, the 31-year-old stayed focused on his current role and his vision.

“I have to think about how I can bring the best out of my team. I only do things which are better for the Pakistan team, and that is my only goal,” he added.

Senior Trio Missing

One major talking point around Pakistan’s T20I squad for the upcoming Bangladesh series is the absence of senior players: Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, and Shaheen Afridi. But according to Salman Ali Agha, fans have nothing to worry about.

“They’re all part of our core group of 25 players for the T20 World Cup,” he assured.

The trio is currently part of the training camp, sharpening their skills and staying ready, even though they won’t be boarding the flight to Dhaka for the three-match T20I series starting July 20.

Building the Bench for the World Cup

With Pakistan’s eyes firmly on the T20 World Cup 2026, the current phase is all about building a strong bench and identifying backups for every key position.

“We need to have players who can replace anyone at any given time,” said Salman. “That’s why we’ve shortlisted 25 players, and you’ll see them rotating in the national setup up to the World Cup.”

While leadership changes in Pakistan cricket have often been sudden and chaotic, Salman Ali Agha’s grounded, no-fuss approach is a breath of fresh air. He isn’t chasing power or positions, he’s focused on performance and unity.

Iran Says No Date Set for Talks With US on Nuclear Program

iran-says-no-date-set-for-talks-with-us-on-nuclear-program

Iran said on Monday that it has “no specific date” for a meeting with the United States on its nuclear program. This comes after a war with Israel  that disrupted ongoing negotiations.

“For now, no specific date, time or location has been determined regarding this matter,” said foreign ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei. The statement referred to plans for a meeting between Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and US envoy Steve Witkoff.

Iran had been negotiating with the United States before Israel started strikes on its nuclear facilities last month. Washington later joined those strikes.

Araghchi and Witkoff held five meetings since April but did not reach a deal. Before the sixth round could happen, Israel launched surprise strikes on June 13, starting a 12-day war.

“We have been serious in diplomacy and the negotiation process. We entered with good faith, but as everyone witnessed, before the sixth round the Zionist regime, in coordination with the United States, committed military aggression against Iran,” Baqaei said.

The United States launched its own attacks on June 22, targeting Iran’s nuclear program. US strikes hit the uranium enrichment facility at Fordo in Qom province and also nuclear sites in Isfahan and Natanz.

The extent of damage from these strikes is still unknown.

Israel carried out hundreds of strikes and killed nuclear scientists and senior military officers. Israel also hit military, nuclear, and other key sites.

Iran answered with missile and drone attacks on Israel. It also attacked a US base in Qatar in response to Washington’s strikes.

Israel and Western nations accuse Iran of working on nuclear weapons. Iran denies this claim.

Iran is the only non-nuclear power that enriches uranium to 60 percent purity, close to weapons grade. The UN atomic energy agency says it has no evidence that Iran is trying to turn its stockpiles into weapons.

Pakistan Railways to Launch Modern Business Train on Lahore-Karachi Route

pakistan-railways-to-launch-modern-business-train-on-lahore-karachi-route

Pakistan Railways will launch a state-of-the-art business train this week to offer passengers a modern and comfortable travel experience on the Lahore-Karachi route. Moreover, officials confirmed that this service marks a major step toward improving long-distance train travel in Pakistan.

The new business train includes 28 digitally equipped coaches. In addition, passengers will enjoy complimentary Wi-Fi throughout the journey. Furthermore, the train also offers an international-standard dining car to provide better meal options.

Pakistan Railways stated that this train meets international comfort and service standards. As a result, passengers will see a major upgrade from traditional services.

The Lahore-Karachi route connects two of Pakistan’s largest cities and attracts heavy passenger demand every day. Therefore, the new business train aims to serve this busy corridor with advanced features and a better travel experience.

Earlier, Pakistan Railways started outsourcing 11 more trains under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. According to officials, they want to improve services by involving private companies. Hence, they expect more efficiency and improved operations.

Authorities believe outsourcing will raise service quality for passengers. Additionally, they expect private firms to introduce modern amenities and improve operational standards across the system.

However, critics expressed concerns about outsourcing’s impact on low-income travelers. In fact, they warned that the move could make train fares higher and reduce affordability for underprivileged communities.

Civil society groups also raised serious questions about fare hikes. They said millions of people rely on trains as their main source of affordable travel, and any increase will affect them directly.

Rail remains the most popular and economical way for poor and middle-class passengers in Pakistan to move between cities. For example, Pakistan Railways estimates that nearly 100,000 people use trains daily. Most of them travel on major routes connecting Karachi with other parts of Punjab.

Finally, with this launch, Pakistan Railways hopes to attract more passengers by offering comfort, digital features, and better services.

Ultimately, officials claim this move will modernise the image of Pakistan Railways and bring more convenience to travelers.

Bitcoin Makes History After Crossing $121,000 for the First Time

bitcoin-makes-history-after-crossing-121000-for-the-first-time

Bitcoin has done it again. Rewriting the record books this time by soaring past the $121,000 mark for the first time in history. The flagship cryptocurrency touched a new all-time high of $123,153 earlier today before stabilising just above $122,000, in what’s being hailed as a watershed moment for digital assets.

What’s Driving Bitcoin’s Record?

A major catalyst behind Bitcoin’s parabolic rise is the record-breaking inflow into U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs. On July 11 alone, these investment vehicles attracted over $1 billion in net inflows, marking one of the biggest single-day surges since their approval earlier this year.

Weekly inflows are now estimated at $2.7 billion, a clear indicator that institutional investors are doubling down on Bitcoin as a long-term asset.

bitcoin-makes-history-after-crossing-121000

These ETFs have not only made Bitcoin more accessible to traditional investors, but they’ve also added a layer of legitimacy that the crypto space has long craved.

Corporations aren’t sitting this one out either. Japanese hotel operator Metaplanet Inc., dubbed “Asia’s MicroStrategy,” has reportedly accumulated more than 16,000 BTC, positioning itself among the largest corporate holders globally.

Crypto-Friendly Politics and U.S. Legislation

With “Crypto Week” underway in the U.S. Congress, lawmakers are debating key legislation that could provide long-awaited regulatory clarity for the crypto industry. The proposed Clarity Act and Anti-CBDC Surveillance State Act signal a bipartisan appetite for a blockchain-friendly legal framework.

Adding fuel to the fire, President Donald Trump recently branded himself the “crypto president” and vowed to make the U.S. the global hub of digital innovation. His pro-Bitcoin rhetoric on social platforms has stirred excitement, particularly among retail investors and crypto-native voters.

The wider crypto market follows:

  • Bitcoin’s rise has had a ripple effect across the broader crypto market:
  • Ethereum (ETH) climbed past $3,050, reaching its highest level in five months.
  • Solana (SOL) and XRP saw gains of 3–5%, riding the coattails of Bitcoin’s momentum.

The global crypto market cap has swelled to over $3.8 trillion, rivalling some of the world’s largest public companies. Notably, Bitcoin’s market capitalisation briefly surpassed Amazon’s, underscoring just how mainstream the once-niche digital currency has become.

The Predictions of Bitcoin Now

Financial experts are now eyeing $125,000 to $130,000 as the next resistance zones. IG market strategist Tony Sycamore called the recent run “a reflection of powerful tailwinds,” while Nigel Green, CEO of deVere Group, suggested we might even see Bitcoin touch $150,000 before the end of the year—provided regulatory clarity continues to improve.

However, analysts also caution that the Fear and Greed Index is inching toward “extreme greed” territory, which could invite short-term corrections. Many believe this rally is sustainable, but not without volatility.

Bitcoin’s ascent to $121K confirms that:

  • Institutional acceptance is here to stay.
  • Crypto is no longer a fringe asset and has become a part of the financial mainstream.
  • Global conversations around regulation are finally catching up with innovation.

While euphoria surrounds Bitcoin’s new high, investors are urged to stay grounded. Crypto is notoriously volatile, and past surges have often been followed by steep pullbacks. Take this one as a word of caution!

Are We Buying the Planet into Crisis?

are-we-buying-the-planet-into-crisis

The planet is getting hotter and hotter day by day, and we are all its criminals. How so? Well, aren’t we all guilty of buying things we don’t need? That seventh pair of sneakers, that online order we forgot about until the delivery guy showed up, that fast fashion haul just because it was on sale.

But what if I told you that our shopping habits aren’t just breaking the bank; they’re breaking the planet?

This isn’t about guilt-tripping anyone for buying a coffee in a plastic cup or ordering takeout. It’s about a bigger, more dangerous pattern we’ve all slipped into: overconsumption.

A culture that constantly whispers “more is better” has turned into a full-blown shout. And while we’re busy chasing sales, trends and upgrades, the Earth is choking on the leftovers.

The Crisis Behind Convenience

Everything we consume comes with a hidden cost.

Did you know it takes 2,700 litres of water to make just one cotton shirt? That’s enough drinking water for one person for almost three years. And yet, fast fashion encourages us to toss that shirt after a season because it’s “so last year.”

Let’s break it down:

  • The fashion industry produces 10% of global carbon emissions, more than aviation and shipping combined.
  • It’s responsible for 20% of global wastewater, much of which ends up in rivers and oceans.
  • The average consumer today buys 60% more clothes than they did 15 years ago, but keeps them for half as long.

And it’s not just clothes.

  • 1.7 billion smartphones are produced each year, many using rare Earth minerals extracted through environmentally destructive mining.
  • Every year, 50 million metric tons of electronic waste are generated globally. Less than 20% of it is recycled.
  • According to the UN, we extract over 100 billion tons of materials annually, and only 7.2% is reused.

Convenience has become our compass. We want quick deliveries, one-click checkouts and products wrapped in layers of plastic. Meanwhile, landfills are overflowing, and global temperatures are hitting new highs every year. Coincidence? I think not.

From Landfills to Melting Ice Caps: The Domino Effect

We live in a culture where things are designed to be used quickly and discarded even faster. Everything is disposable.

The result?

  • 2.12 billion tons of waste are dumped globally every year. That’s roughly 800,000 Olympic-sized swimming pools worth of trash.
  • One garbage truck of textiles is landfilled or burned every second.
  • Plastic pollution is so widespread that microplastics have been found in rainwater, human lungs, and even the placenta of unborn babies.

Here’s the brutal truth: we’re living on ecological credit. If everyone on Earth consumed like the average person in the developed world, we’d need three planets to keep up.

From the Amazon rainforest being cleared for cattle grazing to microplastics being found in human bloodstreams (yes, really), the red flags are everywhere.

deforestation-in-brasils-cerrado_-‘If-one-system-crashes-it-is-likely-to-drag-others-down.
Deforestation in Brazil

Floods, droughts, wildfires, and heatwaves are making headlines, but we’re too busy scrolling past them to notice the pattern.

In 2023 alone:

  • Over 43 million people were displaced by climate-related disasters.
  • 1 in 4 species globally faces extinction by 2050 if current consumption and emission trends continue.
  • July 2023 was declared the hottest month ever recorded in human history.

So, What Now?

This isn’t a call to go live in a cave or give up modern life. But maybe it is a call to pause. To ask ourselves: Do I really need this? Can I borrow instead of buying? Can I buy less, but better?

Here are some small but powerful shifts:

  • Buy less and buy better so that you choose quality over quantity.
  • Support circular economies that rent, repair, reuse and resell.
  • Demand transparency and ask brands where and how their products are made.
  • Cut down on waste and say no to single-use plastics.

The system won’t shift unless we demand it. The supply won’t slow unless we curb our demand. Governments and corporations play a huge role, but consumers hold the real power. The power to stop fueling a machine that’s running the planet into the ground.

Let’s just not depend on one Greta Thunberg to save the planet when we all have an equal duty to fulfil.

The Secret to a Lovable Car? Forget the Tech, Check the Cup Holders

the-secret-to-a-lovable-car-forget-the-tech-check-the-cup-holders

In today’s modernised era dominated by technological innovation and artificial intelligence, the automobile industry is in a competitive race to pack their models with cutting-edge gadgets.

However, do these extraordinary gadgets and innovations attract customers?

Autopilot features, panoramic screens, and voice-activated assistants all make cars attractive, but it appears that the real beauty lies in the small, mundane features.

Technology may enhance comfort, but practicality and convenience carry equal weight. That’s where the simple things enter the equation. Amid all the fancy tech innovations, an unlikely hero is the humble cup holders that stands out as the X-factor.

Cup Holders Matter More than Car Makers Think

Cup holders might seem like an afterthought, after all, there is nothing inherently fancy or innovative associated with them. Most, if not every, automobile has a space designated for your cups. However, they epitomise human-centred car designs.

Morning coffee is every working man’s need. If they’re running late, they would have to enjoy the warm beverage on their way to work. It’s an everyday need, and drivers would want a secure, appropriately-sized space allocated for their coffee mugs.

cup-holders-matter
Cup holders matter

This doesn’t apply to every working man. Almost every person carries a water bottle, and not having a secure place to put their bottles would cause unnecessary inconvenience.

Soft seats, neck support, and autopilot features enhance comfort. However, imagine the distraction and stress you would have to endure if you had to hold your coffee cup or water bottle in one hand while driving.

A well-placed cup holder reduces stress and allows the driver to focus on the road. More importantly, these simple drink carriers speak volumes about the manufacturers’ understanding of customers.

Cup holders are thoughtful additions, which show that manufacturers are well-acquainted with daily routines, practical applications, and user requirements.

It’s About the Small Details

In the quest to innovate, automakers sometimes forget that the road to a driver’s heart runs through the cup holder. A thoughtfully designed space to keep a hot latte secure during rush hour might generate more goodwill than the latest AI-powered dashboard feature.

So next time you’re shopping for a car, ignore the hype for a moment and think about your morning routine. If your coffee fits, it’s a good choice.

Apply Online for New Ajrak Number Plates in Karachi

apply-online-for-new-ajrak-number-plates
Apply Online for New Ajrak Number Plates

With the launch of Ajrak-themed number plates by the Sindh Excise and Taxation Department, Karachi has spiralled into a maze of utter confusion. No one properly knows what documents are required, what the process is, where to apply, etc., and the wrong people are feeding off it.

Don’t fall prey to the hands of third-party scammers or traffic police officers who are just trying to drive money out of your pockets. Know better.

Why are these Ajrak number plates even necessary? How does one apply for the new number plates online? Behold, all your worries will be solved in this article.

What are the New Ajrak Number Plates?

These number plates hold profound significance in a bid to make the city safer. According to Sindh’s Excise and Taxation Minister, this rule is part of the Safe City Project that began in 2018. Under this project, 12,000 surveillance cameras have been installed in the megalopolis.

It is stressed that unless vehicles and bikes are registered and properly transferred in the name of the rightful owner, crime in the city cannot be effectively controlled.

How will this help? The new number plates have barcodes on them, which are even readable at night, allowing better surveillance.

Important Features of the New Excise Number Plate

  • The plates include threads in the background, 3D holograms and barcodes.
  • The number plates are readable at night.
  • The number plates are in three different colours: white plates for private vehicles and bikes, yellow plates for commercial vehicles, and green plates for government vehicles.
  • The fee for a wheeler vehicle number plate is Rs 2,450, and the fee for bike plates is Rs 1,850.
  • The registration process is not limited to cars and bikes, but those with trucks and dumpers could also apply.

However, people have complained that the Sindh government should have launched an awareness campaign to educate citizens about how to acquire the new retro-reflective number plates.

How to Apply Online For New Number Plates

Here’s how to apply for registration for a vehicle’s new Ajrak design number plate in Sindh:

  • Open this link: https://taxportal.excise.gos.pk/home/quick_pay
  • Choose vehicle type: four-wheeler or two-wheeler
  • Enter your mobile number and vehicle registration number (Your motor vehicle tax should be clear till date)
  • Enter the captcha code
  • Click on Vehicle Details
  • Select the nearest branch
  • Click on Calculate Amount
  • Click on deliver challan to me via courier
  • Fill in your address, name and other details there
  • Generate PSID, then the amount will be shown there (fees for number plate and Rs100 for receiving challan copy via courier).
  • A 12-digit PSID will be generated, and it will be sent to your mobile phone number as well
  • Then you can pay the charges over the counter at designated banks, through EasyPaisa, ATM or online banking.
  • After submitting the requisition, follow the instructions on how to get new number plates from the Excise department office in your city (from the Civic Centre in Karachi)

Things to Know Before Applying

  • Before applying, first clear motor vehicle tax dues
  • Options for e-transactions is also available so drivers can save themselves from being exhausted by clustered department visits.
  • Transfer of Ownership (which can either be downloaded from the official website or obtained at the facility) must be submitted along with copies of valid CNICs of both buyer and seller, and a Rs1,000 sale deed or e-stamp, which can be acquired from any branch of Sindh Bank.
  • The driver must carry the receipt of replacement with them while driving (physically).
  • You normally need to wait for about three months for the new plates to be prepared. However, know that officials have admitted that backlog at excise and taxation offices is yet to be cleared, which is causing delays.
  • When the plates are ready, you’ll be notified and can collect them, surrendering the old plates (this part is necessary).
  • You will need to bring the original file and old number plate, regardless of whether it is in any condition. However, if you have lost your old number plate, then you need to apply for a duplicate number plate.
  • The biometric verification and physical presence of the buyer are required.

Beware of These Problems

Ever since this new announcement has been made, some fallout has occurred that might possibly hold back the target it was supposed to achieve.

People are now selling pseudo-number plates (in Saddar, etc.) that don’t have any barcodes or features that allow surveillance to be possible. This will result in vehicle-led crimes still being carried out despite the checks and balances. Don’t fall for this trap; pay some fee and be on the radar.

Due to lack of correct information among the public regarding the required process and documentation for the issuance of new number plates, transfer of ownership, and smart cards, many vehicle owners are either compelled to make multiple visits to government offices or fall prey to “agents” operating near these facilities due to overcrowding at information desks.

With the above steps, you can apply for the new Ajrak number plate and keep yourself safe from third-party scammers and make things easy for both yourself and the officials.

Gaza’s Sidra Gets a Prosthetic Arm from Bioniks, Pakistan

gazas-sidra-gets-a-prosthetic-arm-from-bioniks-pakistan

Since the beginning of a ruthless war in October 2023, Gaza has bled profusely as Israel has committed a series of genocidal acts that have put the region on the brink of utter ruin.

Innocent children have also had to bear Israel’s relentless brutality and viciousness. Among the 50,000+ Palestinians killed, nearly one-third of the victims were children.

Gaza also has one of the highest child amputation crises per capita in recent history. However, it appears that meaningful aid and relief have finally arrived courtesy of Pakistan.

Pakistan’s Bioniks, a Karachi-based tech startup, delivered a 3D prosthetic arm to Gaza’s Sidra Al Bordeeni, a heartwarming gesture that has restored a young girl’s childhood.

Bioniks Delivered Prosthetics to a War Zone For the First Time

According to Bioniks’ CEO, Anas Niaz, the startup has built 1000+ custom-designed prosthetic arms in Pakistan since 2021, but the delivery to Sidra was their first in a conflict-torn region.

The 3D prosthetic limb was custom-built for Sidra more than 4000km away in Karachi. Bioniks uses a smartphone app to take pictures from multiple angles for their design.

Via remote consultations and virtual fittings, an arm, tailored to Sidra’s measurements and skin tone, was manufactured and shipped from Karachi through Jordan to Gaza.

Although the Pakistani tech company’s limbs are less advanced, a prosthetic arm costs $2,500, significantly less than American-made designs, which cost between $10,000 and $20,000.

Designing limbs for children in war-torn regions is a hassle. They need to be replaced every 12-18 months as kids may outgrow them, increasing costs. Furthermore, adult designs are more readily available.

Niaz is exploring future funding opportunities to finance future replacements for Sidra, adding that the cost would be kept low.

Pakistan Has Made a Massive Difference in Sidra’s Life

Last year, 8-year-old Sidra Al Bordeeni was injured during an Israeli strike at Nuseirat School, a shelter for refugees. Gaza’s collapsed healthcare system resulted in inadequate care, and her arm had to be amputated.

Bioniks’ 3D prosthetic life has restored her childhood and brought her close to normalcy for a girl her age.

Expressing gratitude, Sidra’s mother, Sabeen Al Bordeeni, said:

“She’s out playing, and all her friends and siblings are fascinated by her arm…I can’t express how grateful I am to see my daughter happy.”

Gaza needs help, and it’s a refreshing sight to see Pakistan contribute to the noble cause of making life easier for Gazan children.

GTA 5 Finally Arrives in Saudi Arabia and UAE After a 12 Year Ban

Saudi and UAE gamers have a reason for celebration. Grand Theft Auto V will finally make its official debut in both nations on July 17, 2025, after a 12-year ban! This breakthrough opens a curtain on one of the largest entertainment transformations in the Gulf.

Why the Ban Lasted So Long?

Since its 2013 release, GTA 5 was stuck behind a block in the UAE and Saudi Arabia. Officials considered its violence, drug abuse, and adult content against cultural norms. Though gamers imported physical copies or utilised overseas accounts, official digital support disappeared.

The ban, however, ended this summer when both countries gave it a strict 21+ rating to bring the game in line with regional age regulations. Regulators also made slight tweaks out of regard for cultural sensitivities prior to giving clearance.

The fans will receive the full “Expanded & Enhanced” next-gen version. This version has full mission lines, dialogue, and visuals in place. The players also get the benefit of ray tracing, HDR, texture improvements, and reduced loading times.

Best of all, GTA Online is included, enabling local players to play with each other for heists, races, and community events with the global player base as well.

A Turning Point for the Region

This regulatory release indicates increasing Gulf openness. The UAE has recently embraced world entertainment such as Formula 1, WWE, boxing, and esports. Saudi Arabia followed suit. Approving GTA 5 is an indication of increased tolerance for adult gaming under regulated circumstances. It’s a message that entertainment and regulation can peacefully coexist.

What It Means for Players

Local players can now buy GTA 5 directly from authorised digital retailers without hacks. No more dealing with foreign accounts or importing discs. The game bridges them to international servers, enhances streaming and content creation, and ignites fresh fan cultures.

Twitch streams, YouTube series, and local fan events will surely follow this wave of enthusiasm.

It’s not a coincidence in timing. With GTA 6 coming out, opening up GTA 5 now sets the stage for regional availability for the next instalment. Developers most probably regard this as a test case. Favourable response here increases the chances of the sequel’s release in the Gulf at or around the international launch.

From Fringe to Mainstream

While grey-market copies have been around for years, official approval makes all the difference. It legitimates local players and makes them part of the wider gaming ecosystem. It provides retailers and platforms with legal backing to retail mature games. That could result in a more diverse slate of games for Gulf players.

For the moment, regulators didn’t choose drastic cuts, but specifics are hazy. Plans to cut the casino from GTA Online illustrate constant cultural high-wires. Future games, such as GTA 6, may be subject to further edits.

For the moment, however, the message is unmistakable: official outlets can handle it, provided age limits and minor changes are in place.

After 12 years, GTA 5’s launch in Saudi Arabia and the UAE is a cultural turning point. It demonstrates that mature entertainment can safely skirt local standards. For players, it brings an end to waiting. For the region, it means a new era of entertainment availability.

PSX Crosses 135000-Point Mark for the First Time as Investors Continue Favouring Equities

psx-crosses-135000-point-mark-for-first-time-as-investors-continue-favouring-equities

The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) began the trading week on a strong note on Monday, continuing its bullish momentum and crossing an intraday high of 135,000 points.

This was driven by improving investor sentiment and a better economic outlook.

The market opened at 134,299.76 points and surged by 1,170 points in early trading to cross the 135,000 mark.

As of 12:15 PM, the benchmark KSE-100 index had gained 1,841.11 points (1.37%) and was trading at 136,119.27, and a total of 134,882,053 shares were traded, with a value of Rs11.12 billion.

Prime Minister Acknowledges Market Performance

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed satisfaction over the PSX’s strong performance and historic rise.

According to the Prime Minister’s Office, he said, “The significant achievement by the PSX is a clear reflection of the business community’s growing confidence in Pakistan’s economy.”

He added, “The recent positive economic indicators are a testament to his government’s policies moving in the right direction,” and reiterated that ensuring a business-friendly environment is the government’s top priority.

He stated that the country has progressed from economic stability to a path of growth and said the government is working with full dedication for national development and public welfare.

Moreover, he added, “This positive outlook follows a period of concerted efforts to stabilise the economy and implement structural reforms, which appear to be gaining traction and restoring investor trust.”

Key Economic Indicators

Last week, the PSX had already crossed 134,000 points amid consistent buying from local mutual funds and strong macroeconomic indicators.

Investor optimism has been backed by several positive developments, workers’ remittances rose to a historic $3.4 billion in June, an 8% year-on-year increase.

However, full-year FY25 remittances hit a record $38.3 billion, up 27% from the previous year.

The State Bank of Pakistan’s foreign exchange reserves also jumped by $1.8 billion to $14.5 billion as of July 4, the highest level in 39 months.

Auto Sector Performance

Another boost came from the auto sector.

According to the Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association (PAMA), car sales in June rose 64% year-on-year and 47% month-on-month to 21,773 units.

For FY25, total car sales increased by 43% to 148,000 units, driven in part by advance purchases ahead of a proposed GST hike on small cars.

Turn Photos Into 8-Second Videos: Google Rolls Out New Gemini Feature

turn-photos-into-8-second-videos-google-rolls-out-new-gemini-feature

Google has launched a new tool in its Gemini AI platform. It allows users to turn photos into eight-second videos with sound. The feature is powered by Veo 3, Google’s latest video generation model.

Currently, the tool is available to AI Pro and Ultra subscribers in over 150 countries.

David Sharon, Multimodal Generation Lead for Gemini Apps, said, “We launched our state-of-the-art video generation model Veo 3 in May, and last week, we expanded access to Google AI Pro subscribers in over 150 countries. Now, with a new photo-to-video capability in Gemini, you can now transform your favourite photos into dynamic eight-second video clips with sound.”

To use the feature, users must select “Videos” from the tool menu. Then, they upload a photo, describe the scene, and add audio ideas.

“You can get creative by animating everyday objects, bringing your drawings and paintings to life or adding movement to nature scenes. Once your video is complete, tap the share button or download it to share with friends and family,” said Sharon.

Since launch, the response has been strong. Sharon said, “The explosion of creativity from users has been truly remarkable, with over 40 million Veo 3 videos generated across the Gemini app and Flow over the last seven weeks.”

“From reimagining fairy tales through the eyes of a modern influencer, to ASMR videos exploring what it would sound like to cut through a piece of cooling lava, your imagination is the limit when you create videos with Gemini.”

Meanwhile, Veo 3 continues to impress with its video quality. It generates HD video clips with synchronised sound and lifelike motion. Each clip is eight seconds long and doesn’t need editing afterwards.

Businesses can also benefit from Veo 3. Through Google Cloud Vertex AI, companies utilise the tool to accelerate production, create marketing assets, and prototype content. As a result, creative work becomes faster and more flexible.

In terms of safety, Google emphasises the responsible use of AI. Sharon explained, “When you use our video generation tools, we want you to feel confident in the results. That’s why we take significant steps behind the scenes to make sure video generation is an appropriate experience.” These include “extensive ‘red teaming’” and testing to prevent misuse.

Additionally, all generated videos have a visible watermark and an invisible SynthID digital tag. Sharon encouraged feedback, saying, “Use the thumbs up and down buttons on your generated videos to give us feedback, which we’ll use to make ongoing improvements to our safety measures and overall experience.”

Finally, the photo-to-video tool is also available in Google’s Flow platform. The rollout will continue to reach more regions soon.

Cole Palmer Steals the Show as Chelsea Dismantle PSG to Lift Club World Cup

cole-palmer-chelsea-dismantle-psg-to-lift-club-world-cup

Cole Palmer delivered a breathtaking first-half performance, scoring twice and setting up another as Chelsea thumped Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) 3-0 to clinch the FIFA Club World Cup title in style on Sunday night.

After the first whistle, it didn’t take long for Chelsea to find their groove, and at the heart of it all was Palmer. After coming close in the eighth minute, he made sure his next chance counted.

In the 22nd minute, Malo Gusto’s persistence paid off. After a clever run into the box and a blocked shot, the ball fell kindly to Palmer, who coolly slotted it into the bottom corner with his left foot.

Just eight minutes later, Palmer struck again. This time, it was all him. Levi Colwill launched a long ball, and Palmer took it in stride, danced across the penalty area, and unleashed another low finish past Gianluigi Donnarumma.

Pedro Joins the Party

With PSG on the ropes, Palmer wasn’t done yet. In the 43rd minute, he sliced through their defence with a delicious through ball to Joao Pedro, who cheekily chipped it over a diving Donnarumma to make it 3-0 before half-time.

That was the knockout punch. PSG, despite their star power and recently crowned UEFA Champions League status, never recovered.

While Palmer stole headlines, Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sanchez quietly turned in a heroic shift. With six vital saves, including a diving stop from a Joao Neves header in stoppage time, Sanchez made sure the clean sheet stayed intact.

It was, by far, his best performance of the tournament.

And it wasn’t just the keeper holding the fort. Marc Cucurella made a crucial interception in the 16th minute, cutting off a dangerous PSG move and helping Chelsea settle into control early on.

PSG’s Collapse

PSG looked nothing like the side that had stormed through the tournament, conceding just one goal in six matches before this final.

Defensively, they were shaky. Offensively, they were disjointed. And when frustration boiled over in the 85th minute, Joao Neves saw red for pulling Cucurella by the hair after a VAR review.

Things got even uglier after the final whistle, with head coach Luis Enrique and goalkeeper Donnarumma confronting Chelsea players in a heated exchange. At one point, Enrique appeared to grab Joao Pedro by the neck, an unsightly end to a night PSG will want to forget.

Haseebullah Khan Comments On England Allegiance Rumours

Asad Shafiq Clears the Air on Haseebullah’s Exclusion-haseebullah-khan-comments-on-england-allegiance-rumours
Asad Shafiq Clears the Air on Haseebullah’s Exclusion

Pakistan’s emerging wicketkeeper-batter Haseebullah Khan has recently found himself at the centre of a rumour mill, one that he was quick to shut down with clarity and grace.

Over the past few days, speculation began swirling online that the 22-year-old was on the verge of switching allegiance from Pakistan to England.

Some posts even claimed Haseebullah had met with England Cricket Board (ECB) agents, allegedly frustrated after missing out on recent selections for the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB)’s skills camp and the Pakistan Shaheens squad.

Setting the Record Straight

But on Sunday, Haseebullah took matters into his own hands, and straight to Instagram Stories, to clear the air. With the rumour mill in full swing, his statement came as a much-needed reality check.

“I would like to inform you all that I have arrived in England in connection with my domestic county contract and sponsorship obligations,” he wrote.

He was clear, composed and firm. There’s no England switch in the works. No betrayal. No drama.

“I remain fully committed to representing my country, Pakistan, with utmost dedication and passion,” he added.

Dealing with Disappointment

To be fair, there’s a reason why the rumour picked up traction. Haseebullah has not featured in recent national plans, missing out on PCB development camps and not getting much game time in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) either.

During the PSL 10 season, he was part of Quetta Gladiators, playing just one match and scoring only seven runs. That, paired with whispers of “frustration” and “disappointment”, fuelled the false narrative.

However, instead of sulking or reacting impulsively, Haseebullah chose to stay professional and focused on what matters.

“I kindly request everyone to refrain from spreading false rumours. Thanks for your continued support. Pakistan Zindabad,” he concluded.

Still Early Days in His Career

Let’s not forget, Haseebullah is only 22. His international experience may be limited, three T20Is with 36 runs to his name, but he’s got potential.

In domestic T20s, he has played 35 matches, scoring 599 runs, including three half-centuries. His strike rate sits at 118.37, and while there’s work to be done, the raw material is there.

For now, Haseebullah is doing what he should be, focusing on cricket, seizing domestic opportunities and waiting for his next international break. The distractions around him, especially those bordering on baseless accusations, do no one any good.

Jannik Sinner Defeats Carlos Alcaraz To Clinch His First Wimbledon Title

jannik-sinner-defeats-carlos-alcaraz-to-clinch-wimbledon-title

Centre Court witnessed a changing of the guard on Sunday as Italy’s Jannik Sinner etched his name into history, beating defending champion Carlos Alcaraz in a gripping four-set final to claim his first-ever Wimbledon title, and fourth Grand Slam overall.

In doing so, the 23-year-old became the first Italian to win the Wimbledon singles crown, bringing an end to Alcaraz’s reign with a composed and commanding performance.

Electric Start, Shifting Momentum

From the outset, it was clear this wasn’t going to be just another final, this was a battle between two generational talents born in the 2000s.

Sinner broke early to go up 3-2, but Alcaraz, never one to back down, came roaring back to take the opening set 6-4.

As he pointed to his ear, soaking in the roaring crowd, it felt like déjà vu, another Alcaraz comeback brewing. But Sinner had other plans.

In the second set, Alcaraz blinked, and Sinner pounced. A break in the opening game allowed the Italian to take control. Despite Alcaraz’s lightning footwork and signature shot-making, Sinner matched him stroke for stroke.

He covered the court like a hawk and sealed the second set with a ripping cross-court winner. The third set saw Sinner elevate further. A stunning net volley gave him a break for 5-4, and an unreturnable ace soon closed the door.

The Fourth Set

By the time the fourth set rolled around, Sinner had his foot on the gas. Another early break gave him a 3-1 lead, and the usually fiery Alcaraz started to show rare signs of frustration.

Sinner, ever the cool customer, didn’t let up. A massive serve sealed the deal at 6-4, and the Italian dropped to his knees as he became the Wimbledon champion.

In the post-match presentation, Sinner showed the same class he displayed during the match.

“Carlos, thank you for the player and person you are. It’s so difficult to play against you,” Sinner said, smiling. “This was a dream when I was a kid. To be here, lifting the Wimbledon trophy… It’s just amazing.”

The win also served as poetic revenge after Sinner fell to Alcaraz in the French Open. This time, it was his moment.
