Trump Threatens Tariffs on EU Goods and iPhones

trump-threatens-tariffs-on-eu-goods-and-iphones

On Friday, U.S. President Donald Trump warned that he might impose a 50% tariffs on European Union goods starting 1 June. He also threatened a 25% levy on all imported iPhones purchased by American consumers. The statements, made on social media, disrupted global financial markets. Stock indices in the U.S. and Europe fell, the dollar weakened, gold prices rose, and Treasury yields declined due to economic concerns.

Trump’s Threat Escalates Trade Tensions

Trump’s threat followed frustration within the White House over slow progress in trade talks with the EU. He also criticised Apple, urging the company to move production to the U.S. “I expect their iPhones that will be sold in the United States of America to be manufactured and built in the United States, not India or anyplace else,” Trump said in a Truth Social post. Later, speaking to reporters, he added that the proposed tax would also apply to “Samsung and anybody that makes that product.”

He emphasised, “I’m not looking for a deal… We’ve set the deal – it’s at 50%. But again, there’s no tariff if they build their plant here.”

EU, Japan Respond; Apple Faces Pressure

EU Trade Chief Maroš Šefčovič reaffirmed the EU’s commitment to fair trade talks, saying trade “must be guided by mutual respect, not threats.” Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof said the EU would likely view the tariff threat as part of ongoing negotiations.

The White House had paused earlier global tariffs announced in April after backlash from investors. Currently, a 10% baseline import tax remains, and Chinese tariffs have been reduced from 145% to 30%.

The EU exported around €500 billion worth of goods to the U.S. last year, including cars, pharmaceuticals, and chemicals. A 50% tariff could raise prices on many of these items.

Japan’s negotiator Ryosei Akazawa said talks with the U.S. were more detailed, but warned, “In negotiations, the party stuck to a deadline usually loses.”

Apple declined to comment, but reports indicate it is shifting iPhone production to India by 2026. Analyst Gil Luria noted, “It is hard to imagine that Apple can be fully compliant with this request from the president in the next three to five years.”

Australia Floods Leave 4 Dead, 50,000 Stranded

The floods have also caused pollution and damage along the coast, with dead animals and debris washing up on beaches.

The death toll from severe southeastern Australia floods rose to four on Friday after emergency workers found a man’s body in a car submerged by floodwaters near Coffs Harbour, about 550 km north of Sydney. The discovery follows three days of continuous heavy rain that has isolated around 50,000 people, destroyed homes, and swept away livestock, according to emergency officials.

At least one person remains missing since the heavy downpours began earlier in the week. Emergency Services Deputy Commissioner of New South Wales, Damien Johnston, warned people to be cautious: “Floodwaters have contaminants, there can be vermin, snakes… so you need to assess those risks. Electricity can also pose a danger.”

Widespread Damage and Disrupted Access

Drone footage and media reports show widespread flooding in streets, sunken vehicles, and swollen rivers in the Hunter and Mid North Coast regions of New South Wales. Prime Minister Anthony Albanese had planned to visit the severely affected town of Taree but had to cancel due to road blockages. “We did try… but that was not possible due to the circumstance, which I’m sure people understand,” he said in Maitland. “We’re here to say, clearly and explicitly — you’re not alone.”

The floods have also caused pollution and damage along the coast, with dead animals and debris washing up on beaches. Researchers like Davide Faranda from ClimaMeter say that climate change is making such extreme weather more frequent: “What once were rare downpours are now becoming the new normal — climate change is rewriting Australia’s weather patterns, one flood at a time.”

Transport Chaos and Dam Warnings

A strong weather system dumped four months’ worth of rain in just three days. Sydney faced flight delays after two of its three airport runways were briefly closed due to strong winds. Train services, including the airport rail link, were delayed because of water on the tracks. Authorities are closely monitoring the Warragamba Dam, which supplies most of Sydney’s drinking water and is at 96% capacity. Emergency workers continue to help affected communities and assess the damage.

“Only a Mad Person can Think that India can Stop Pakistan’s Water”: DG ISPR

DG ISPR Dismisses India’s Water Threat As “Insane Thinking”
DG ISPR Dismisses India’s Water Threat As “Insane Thinking”

Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR) Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry has strongly rejected Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s claim that India could stop Pakistan’s water. In an interview with Al Jazeera, he called this idea “insane thinking.”

“Only a mad person can think that India can stop Pakistan’s water. It is not possible to cut off water for 240 million people,” he said. Modi had earlier stated that Pakistan would not receive water from rivers over which India claims rights. His comment came a month after a deadly attack in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), which led India to suspend the Indus Waters Treaty (IWT).

Kashmir’s Water Rights and Territorial Dispute

General Chaudhry noted that six rivers originate from Kashmir, a region recognised as disputed by the United Nations. “If the people of Kashmir decide to join Pakistan, all those rivers will belong to us, making India a lower riparian state,” he explained. “At that point, it will be for Pakistan to decide how to deal with that situation.”

The Indus Waters Treaty, brokered by the World Bank in 1960, was unilaterally suspended by India following the April 22 attack that killed 26 people, mostly Hindu tourists, in IIOJK.

Unity of the People and Pakistan’s Stand on Truth

Lt Gen Chaudhry highlighted the unity and resilience of the Pakistani people. “If you go into the streets and cities of Pakistan, you will find the answer written on the faces of the people,” he said. According to him, this conflict is not just military or political, but a fight for truth and principles. Calling Pakistan’s stance a just struggle, he said India used falsehoods and coercion to shape a narrative after the Pahalgam incident.

“In response, Pakistan made one simple demand: if you have evidence, bring it forward,” he said. “If there is any proof connecting a Pakistani citizen or the state to the incident, present it — not just to us, but to the international community or a neutral and trusted third party, so that transparent investigations can take place.”

India has not responded to this demand. “India had no answer then, and it still has none,” he added, noting that India’s Ministry of External Affairs recently admitted that the investigation is still ongoing.

Cross-Border Strikes and Pakistan’s Response

Lt Gen Chaudhry also commented on the missile strikes India launched on May 6 and 7. India claimed these were aimed at militant camps in retaliation for the Pahalgam attack. However, the strikes killed several Pakistani civilians, including women and children.

In response, Pakistan launched Operation Bunyan-ul-Marsoos, targeting Indian military facilities in several regions. The Pakistan Air Force shot down six Indian fighter jets, including three Rafales and dozens of drones. After 87 hours of fighting, a ceasefire was brokered by the United States on May 10.

The DG ISPR pointed out that India has a more developed film and media industry, which it uses to create and push false narratives. He reiterated that Pakistan has not used the full force of its conventional military yet, as it remains focused on countering terrorism, particularly operations in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, supported by India.

India Accused of Sponsoring Terrorism

“The world knows that India is the biggest sponsor of terrorism in this region,” he said. He made it clear that Pakistan continues these anti-terror operations without withdrawing any troops. He warned of the dangers of a conflict between two nuclear-armed states.

“Global powers understand that even imagining a war between two nuclear states is both dangerous and ridiculous,” he added. “India has been obsessed with war for years, which is like playing with fire.”

Lt Gen Chaudhry said India is creating conditions that could lead to mutual destruction. On the other hand, Pakistan has acted responsibly to avoid escalating the situation.

He raised serious concerns about human rights in India, stating, “The Indian elite believes in oppressing Muslims and minorities, which is a serious issue.” He explained that Christians, Sikhs, and lower-caste Hindus also face persecution.

“This oppression naturally triggers a reaction,” he said, “but instead of addressing the root causes, India refuses to deal with the issues and blames Pakistan.” He called this a result of extremism and the Hindutva ideology, which seeks to shift internal Indian problems outward.

He also denied India’s accusation that Pakistan targeted a religious site like the Golden Temple. He called it “the greatest lie.” He emphasised Pakistan’s commitment to protecting Sikh religious sites like Nankana Sahib, Panja Sahib and Kartarpur Sahib.

“Attacking religious or civilian sites is against our culture, our values, and our religion,” he said. “We love our Sikh brothers, and there are deep bonds between Muslims and Sikhs in Pakistan.”

Warning of Stronger Response If Provoked Again

Lt Gen Chaudhry said Pakistan has fought this war independently and expects India to do the same. “If India has any self-respect, it should also fight its own battles,” he added. He urged Indians to stop depending on falsehoods and aggression.

He stressed that Pakistan remained firm during the recent conflict and will continue to do so. “If India tries this again, our reaction will be swifter and more severe than before,” he concluded.

Thunderstorms and lightning are likely to hit regions such as Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, and Galiyat. Rain is also expected in Mandi Bahauddin, Hafizabad, Jhelum, Mianwali, Chakwal, Attock, Narowal, Sialkot, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, and Sheikhupura.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) will likely see strong winds and thunderstorms across many districts. These include Chitral, Dir, Swat, Malakand, Mansehra, Battagram, Shangla, Kohistan, Abbottabad, Haripur, Peshawar, Mardan, Swabi, Nowshera, Mohmand, Khyber, Kurram, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Kohat, Karak, and Waziristan.

In Balochistan, areas like Zhob, Ziarat, and Barkhan could also experience rainfall.

The PMD urged people to remain cautious and follow safety guidelines during this changing weather.

At the same time, the Punjab Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) released heatwave safety measures for cattle markets ahead of Eid ul Adha. As animal markets begin operating across rural and urban areas, the PDMA Director General instructed local authorities to arrange water supplies for animals and build temporary sheds at these sites.

They also ordered the setup of veterinary and medical health camps in all cattle markets to ensure safety for both animals and people.

The PDMA reminded the public that “with precautionary measures we can avoid the adverse effect of severe heat and the heatwave conditions expected to persist in June.”

They also urged both cattle sellers and buyers to remain careful in case of rough weather.

Another Student Martyred After Khuzdar School Bus Attack, Death Toll Rises to

Security officials confirmed on Friday that Malaika, a female student badly injured in the Khuzdar school bus attack, died during treatment. Her death raised the total number of victims to eight. Among the dead are six schoolchildren—five girls and one boy—according to security sources.

Officials called the attack an act of terrorism backed by India. They stated, “The blood of these innocent children will be avenged,” and warned, The Indian-backed instigators would be held accountable.”

The suicide bombing took place on Wednesday morning. A suspected terrorist drove a car loaded with explosives into a school bus near Zero Point, close to Rakhshan Hotel. Khuzdar Deputy Commissioner Yasir Iqbal Dashti said the bus was taking students to the Army Public School inside the Khuzdar cantonment.

The Bomb Disposal Squad confirmed the attacker used over 30 kilograms of explosives in the blast.

The military’s media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), said, “The cowardly and ghastly assault was planned and orchestrated by the terrorist state of India and carried out by its proxies in Balochistan.”

Leaders from both the civil and military government strongly condemned the attack. The United Nations Security Council also issued a strong statement against the act of terror.

The bombing has deeply shaken the area, especially due to the loss of innocent schoolchildren. Security forces are still trying to trace the handlers and those who supported the attack.

Chinese Scientists Develop Lens that can Detect Invisible Infrared Light

Chinese Scientists Develop Lens that can Detect Invisible Infrared Light
Chinese Scientists Develop Lens that can Detect Invisible Infrared Light

Chinese researchers have created contact lenses that enable users to view infrared light that is typically invisible to the human eye. What’s even cooler is that the lenses function better through closed eyelids, and future iterations may be able to help people who are colour blind.

Only a small spectrum of colours, light with wavelengths ranging from 400 to 700 nanometers, can be seen by the human eye. Even though other species can see beyond it, we refer to that as the “visible” portion of the spectrum in a typical human-centric fashion. Anything beyond that is invisible to the human eye. For example, light that falls between 800-1600 is infrared, and in a recent study, scientists have helped humans see it with the help of lenses embedded with nanoparticles that convert the infrared wavelengths into visible ones.

Infrared light is invisible to the human eye because the wavelengths are too long. The lenses help by converting them into shorter wavelengths.

Tian Xue’s Creation

The lenses do not interfere with the wearer’s ability to view visible light. In fact, wearers who tested the lenses were able to determine the direction of the visible light’s source and differentiate it from the flashing signals from infrared light from the LEDs during tests. According to Tian Xue, a neurologist at the University of Science and Technology of China, “It’s totally clear cut: the subject cannot see anything without the contact lenses, but when they put them on, they can clearly see the flickering of the infrared light.”

“We also found that when the subject closes their eyes, they’re even better able to receive this flickering information, because near-infrared light penetrates the eyelid more effectively than visible light, so there is less interference from visible light.”

Currently, the lenses only allow wearers to see radiation from an LED light source, but the researchers are working to increase the nanoparticles’ sensitivity so they can see even lower levels of infrared light.

“In the future, by working together with materials scientists and optical experts, we hope to make a contact lens with more precise spatial resolution and higher sensitivity,” Xue added.

Mahira Khan Says She’s Against ‘Bans’ and ‘Cancel Culture’

Mahira Khan Hints at Bollywood Return: ''I’m Against Bans and Cancel Culture''
Mahira Khan Hints at Bollywood Return: ''I’m Against Bans and Cancel Culture''

The famous Pakistani actors and film industry sweethearts, Mahira Khan and Humayun Saeed, touched down in Dallas to market their soon-to-be-released film Love Guru, premiering this Eid al-Adha. Love Guru’s star-studded promotional event was the talk of the town for fans and the media. Experts and social media influencers also joined the marketing frenzy.

One of the most notable highlights of the event was a free-flowing conversation between Mahira and Dr. Huda, who is a well-known Dallas-based doctor and blogger. She asked Mahira the much-anticipated question: Where do you see yourself in Bollywood’s future?

The Answer: Contemplative Silence Infused with Emotion

The answer was infused with mixed feelings. Taking a minute to breathe, Mahira explained why she feels so strongly about the matter and political reality. Bollywood and Pakistani cinema share a love-hate relationship, particularly during periods of heightened cross-border tensions.

Dr. Huda pointed out the growing and never-ending restrictions imposed on Pakistani performers by the Indian film industry. It was a very tense situation, and everyone had their attention on Mahira.

Mahira Khan Speaks Against Cancel Culture and Bans

“I feel like we have to look inwards,” Mahira said, her tone firm and empathetic. She talked about how important it was to develop and advance our own entertainment industry in Pakistan. She held her ground, despite the difficulties. “I am not someone who believes in cancel culture, in banning, in boycotting. … I don’t believe in bullying  or making threats in order to get your way.” Mahira added. Her sentiments reflected a general belief in unity and creativity that transcends frontiers. The actress admitted that one can go tough but also be deeply emotional in situations.

‘Love Guru’ and the Spirit of Collaboration

Mahira’s perspective reflects a growing attitude among Pakistani artists: a focus on self-sufficiency. She emphasised the need to support and invest in local talent, local stories, and local platforms. “Your country is your country at the end of the day. Their country is their country,” she added, making the case for national identity without division.

This is not just a mature perspective; it’s a sanity-preserver in our polarised world. Instead of hoping for acceptance abroad, Mahira wants Pakistani cinema to carve its own space in the world.

A Hopeful Signal for Peace through Art

While there is no official word about her signing any Bollywood feature, Mahira’s words indicate that she isn’t against working in Bollywood if peace prevails. As political differences may endure, figures like Mahira are setting the stage for peace and advancement through mutual culture and narratives.

‘Love Guru’ and the Spirit of Collaboration

Love Guru is not just a movie featuring Mahira Khan and Humayun Saeed; it’s the celebration of storytelling. It guarantees humour, romance, and a message of optimism – all aptly set for the occasion of Eid. Excitement among fans in the U.S. is building up for the promotional visit and to see these two stars once again on screen together.

And when it comes to Mahira’s response to the reporter, it was not flimsy, rather it reminded everyone of the power art has to heal and unite. By standing up against cancel culture and advocating for national growth, she proved herself not just a talented actress but a thoughtful leader in the entertainment world.

As Love Guru gets ready to make its debut, Mahira’s message is loud and clear: Let’s build, not break. Let’s Invest, Not Isolate.

India vs England: Who Could Step in for Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma?

india-england-who-can-replace-virat-kohli-rohit-sharma

With Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma stepping away from Test cricket, India now faces the inevitable task of rebuilding a red-ball core — one that can carry the team into the next phase of the ICC World Test Championship cycle.

And according to former India all-rounder and batting coach Sanjay Bangar, the future may already be knocking.

Fresh Faces for Fresh Challenges

Ahead of the five-Test series against England starting June 20, Bangar has put forward two names who could plug the massive gaps left behind by Kohli and Rohit: Abhimanyu Easwaran and Karun Nair.

Now, these aren’t random picks. These are domestic giants who’ve been grinding it out in India’s first-class scene for years — and they might finally be getting their moment in the sun.

Abhimanyu Easwaran

Let’s start at the top. Literally. Bangar believes Easwaran is the man to replace Rohit Sharma as India’s Test opener. And honestly, it’s hard to argue.

  • 7,600+ runs in first-class cricket

  • 27 centuries to his name

  • Consistently among the top domestic run-scorers year after year

He’s also been a regular part of India A tours and will lead the India A side against the England Lions, which adds even more weight to his case.

While Easwaran hasn’t debuted at the Test level yet, this could be the perfect opportunity — a long series in England, tough conditions, and a chance to prove he belongs.

Karun Nair

And then there’s Karun Nair — the man who once hit a triple century in just his third Test, but somehow vanished from the national setup just as quickly.

Now 32, Nair is knocking hard on the door again.

  • 863 runs in the Ranji Trophy

  • 779 in the Vijay Hazare Trophy

  • Consistent form across formats this season

Bangar is spot on: if Indian cricket really believes in rewarding domestic performances, Nair is long overdue for a recall. With Kohli’s No. 4 spot open, the timing couldn’t be more perfect.

The Captaincy Conundrum

Of course, new faces also mean new leadership. With the BCCI set to announce the squad by May 24, all eyes are on the captaincy. Shubman Gill appears to be the frontrunner — young, composed, and already part of the Test setup.

But don’t count out Jasprit Bumrah just yet. His name has surfaced too, though recurring injuries could make that a risky bet.

Final Thoughts

The likes of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have carried Indian Test cricket for over a decade. Their absence will be felt — in the dressing room, at the crease, and in the hearts of fans.

But the beauty of the sport lies in its cycle. As legends fade, new stars rise.

Abhimanyu Easwaran and Karun Nair aren’t just “replacements” — they’re the start of a new story. And if they get their chance this summer, England 2025 could mark the beginning of India’s next great Test era.

India’s 2025 England Tour – Full Schedule

Here’s what the road ahead looks like:

  • 1st Test: June 20–24 (Leeds)

  • 2nd Test: July 02–06 (Birmingham)

  • 3rd Test: July 10–14 (Lord’s)

  • 4th Test: July 23–27 (Manchester)

  • 5th Test: July 31–August 04 (The Oval)

Donald Trump Ends Harvard’s Foreign Student Programme

Doland Trump Ends Harvard’s Foreign Student Programme
Doland Trump Ends Harvard’s Foreign Student Programme

In a bold decision, the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump has stopped Harvard University from enrolling foreign students. This decision affects more than a quarter of the university’s student population. It also shows a serious conflict between Trump and one of the most respected universities in the country.

Trump says Harvard refused to follow the government’s rules. He claims the university allows an unsafe campus for Jewish students and supports radical views. Trump is angry with Harvard for not agreeing to his request for oversight of the school’s hiring and admissions. He accuses the university of being a centre for anti-Semitism and “woke” liberal ideas.

Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said in a letter to Harvard, “Effective immediately, Harvard University’s Student and Exchange Visitor (SEVIS) Programme certification is revoked.” The SEVIS system is what allows foreign students to study in the U.S.

Last month, Trump warned Harvard that it could lose the ability to enrol foreign students if it did not meet the government’s demands. These demands would place the private university under political supervision.

Noem wrote, “As I explained to you in my April letter, it is a privilege to enrol foreign students. All universities must comply with Department of Homeland Security requirements, including reporting requirements under the Student and Exchange Visitor Programme regulations, to maintain this privilege.”

She added, “As a result of your refusal to comply with multiple requests to provide the Department of Homeland Security pertinent information while perpetuating an unsafe campus environment that is hostile to Jewish students, promotes pro-Hamas sympathies, and employs racist ‘diversity, equity, and inclusion’ policies, you have lost this privilege.”

In the 2024–25 academic year, over 27 percent of Harvard’s students were from other countries, according to university data.

Harvard has not yet responded to requests for comment.

US Test Launches Minuteman III Missile to Showcase Force and Readiness

US Test Launches Minuteman III Missile to Showcase Force and Readiness

The US Air Force has successfully launched an unarmed Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) test from Vandenberg Space Force Base, California, less than twenty-four hours after US President Donald Trump announced the $175 billion Golden Dome missile defence project. Launched on May 21, 2025, at 12:01 local time, the missile travelled roughly 4,200 miles to the Ronald Reagan Ballistic Missile Defence Test Site in the Marshall Islands, confirming the land-based leg of the US nuclear triad’s ongoing operational readiness and dependability.

In a statement, Global Strike commander Gen. Thomas Bussiere said, “This ICBM test launch highlights the nation’s nuclear deterrent strength and the readiness of the ICBM leg of the triad.” He also added, “Devoted airmen—missileers, defenders, helicopter operators, and the teams that support them—maintain this potent safeguard, which ensures the security of the nation and its allies.”

The 377th Test and Evaluation Group at Vandenberg oversaw the launch, which took place at the base’s Western Test Range. To make sure the Minuteman III, which is over 50 years old and nearing the end of its life, continues to operate safely and as intended, the Air Force frequently tests it at night. Since February, the service has carried out over 300 tests of this kind.

The Sentinel system will eventually take the place of the Minuteman programme, which was first created in the 1970s. The Air Force has reiterated its commitment to ensuring the Minuteman III “remains a viable deterrent” until the Sentinel achieves full operational capability.

England’s Joe Root Becomes Fastest to Score 13,000 Test Runs

joe-root-becomes-fastest-to-13000-test-runs

Nottingham – On a quiet Thursday morning, Joe Root did something loud. With a simple nudge off his pads for a single, the former England captain etched his name in cricketing history — becoming the fastest batter ever to reach 13,000 runs in Test cricket.

No fireworks. No fist pumps. Just Root doing what he’s done for over a decade: timing a ball with elegance and walking into the record books without breaking a sweat.

13,000 and Counting – In Style

The landmark came during England’s one-off Test against Zimbabwe at Trent Bridge, when Root flicked Victor Nyauchi for a run in the 80th over, taking his personal score to 28.

He would eventually depart for 34 off 44 deliveries, caught by Blessing Muzarabani in the 83rd over. But by then, the job was already done — at least the historic one.

With that 28th run, Root overtook the legendary Jacques Kallis to become the fastest player to 13,000 Test runs, getting there in just 153 innings — a full six fewer than Kallis’s 159.

Fastest to 13,000 Test Runs — A League of Legends

Here’s how the top five stack up:

  1. Joe Root (England) – 153 innings
  2. Jacques Kallis (South Africa) – 159 innings
  3. Rahul Dravid (India) – 160 innings
  4. Ricky Ponting (Australia) – 162 innings
  5. Sachin Tendulkar (England) – 163 innings

That’s some serious company. These names are not just cricketing legends — they’re the backbone of their respective Test teams for decades.
And now, Joe Root leads them all when it comes to the pace of scoring these mountainous runs.

The Only Active Batter on the List

What makes Root’s feat even more remarkable? He’s the only active player in the 13,000+ club.

Here’s where he stands among the all-time greats in terms of total Test runs:

  1. Sachin Tendulkar (India) – 15,921
  2. Ricky Ponting (Australia) – 13,378
  3. Jacques Kallis (South Africa) – 13,289
  4. Rahul Dravid (India) – 13,288
  5. Joe Root (England) – 13,006 (and counting)

He may be the youngest member of this elite list, but don’t be surprised if he ends up topping it. With fitness on his side and form not slowing down anytime soon, Root looks set to chase down Tendulkar’s record — something that once felt almost untouchable.
More Than Just Numbers

What makes Root special isn’t just his stats — it’s how he scores his runs. He’s been the anchor in England’s batting line-up, often scoring tough runs when others falter. His adaptability across conditions and his mental strength have set him apart in the modern red-ball game.

Pakistan, India Likely To Be In Separate Groups For T20 World Cup 2026: Reports

pakistan-stance-after-india-champions-trophy-refusal-fusion-formula-pcb-to-release-additional-champions-trophy-2025-tickets-sarfaraz-ahmed-saqlain-mushtaq-asia-cup-2025

Brace yourselves, cricket fans, the most anticipated clash in world cricket — Pakistan vs India — might not light up the group stage of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026.

Yep, you read that right. If reports from Indian media are to be believed, Pakistan and India could be placed in separate groups for the upcoming tournament. And for once, it’s not about strategy — it’s about politics.

A Rivalry Bigger Than Cricket

Let’s be honest — an India-Pakistan clash isn’t just a cricket match. It’s an event.
A global spectacle. The kind that stops time, from the streets of Lahore to the living rooms of Delhi.

Since bilateral cricket between the two nations ended in 2013, the only stage we get to see this fierce rivalry unfold is during ICC events and the Asia Cup.

Naturally, the organizers usually make sure they’re drawn in the same group. It’s good business — for broadcasters, for sponsors, and for the fans. But this time? Things could be different.

Why the Change?

Well, it all goes back to the latest diplomatic fallout. India’s refusal to tour Pakistan for the 2025 Champions Trophy — hosted jointly by Pakistan and the UAE — hasn’t gone down well with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

In response, a “fusion formula” was proposed: neither country will tour the other’s home soil for ICC events for the next three years. Neutral venues only.

Now, with political tensions still simmering, the ICC is reportedly considering separating the two in the group stage draw to avoid early drama and logistical nightmares.

According to sources close to the BCCI, the matter will be taken up at the ICC Annual Conference, set to be held from July 17 to 20 in Singapore.

What Does This Mean for Pakistan-India Fans?

In one word: disappointment. Let’s not pretend — India vs Pakistan is the jewel in ICC’s crown. Remember the 2022 T20 World Cup clash at the MCG? A packed crowd. Virat Kohli’s masterclass. Goosebumps for days.

Now imagine a World Cup without that kind of showdown in the group stage. Sure, the two sides could still meet in the knockouts — but that’s not guaranteed. Group stage games offer that one must-watch fixture every fan circles on the calendar.

Skipping that? It feels like a lost opportunity — not just commercially, but emotionally.

The final decision on group placements will rest with the ICC’s executive council, and fans will be watching closely. Because, frankly, this isn’t just a scheduling decision — it’s a statement on where cricket is headed in an increasingly complicated world.

Maryam Nawaz Opens Nawaz Sharif Flyover in Sargodha

Maryam Nawaz Sharif, Chief Minister of Punjab, formally opened the Nawaz Sharif Flyover on Thursday, the largest project in Sargodha. Officials claim that the flyover, which stretches 1.3 km, was finished in only eight months, which is a record time. Thousands of daily commuters are expected to see traffic reduction and connectivity enhancement.

CM Maryam Nawaz toured the newly built Nawaz Sharif Flyover during the ceremony and praised the quality of its construction. Provincial Minister Sohaib Ahmad Bharth briefed her in detail about how the project will support regional transit. The Rs2.2 billion flyover aims to ease travel for people coming from Bhakkar, Khushab, and Mianwali. Officials expect more than 30,000 vehicles to use the route daily.

In addition to the main structure, the project includes service roads and a sewer channel box. These additions are designed to improve traffic flow and support more efficient city planning. Officials believe this initiative will not only improve connectivity but also encourage economic activity in Sargodha and nearby areas.

Google Introduces ‘Flow,’ an AI-Powered Filmmaker with Veo 3

Google Introduces ‘Flow,’ an AI-Powered Filmmaker with Veo 3

Google has just introduced Flow, an AI director that collaborates with its new Veo 3 camera. This game-changing tool enables anyone to make professional-level videos with a few words. No cost equipment, no software skills—just tell Flow what you want, and it makes it happen.

How Flow and Veo 3 Work Together

Flow employs Veo 3, Google‘s latest video creation AI, to convert plain text into beautiful visuals. Whether you want a movie-style trailer, a product demo, or a social media video, you simply write a description, and Flow produces high-definition video. The AI manages lighting, camera shots, and even seamless cuts—spending hours less on editing.

As opposed to older AI video software, Veo 3 generates longer, more continuous scenes that are smoother to look at. It gets sophisticated prompts, so you can ask for certain styles such as “80s neon-lit cyberpunk” or “sunset beach drone shot,” and the AI gets it right.

Why this Matters for Creators

Prior to Flow, producing high-quality videos demanded costly equipment and editing expertise. Today, small businesses, marketers, and hobbyists can all create professional content within minutes. Picture writing a YouTube opening, a TikTok promotion, or a training video without employing a production crew—Flow makes it real.

Google also prevents malicious use by watermarking AI-generated content. It makes it easier for viewers to identify between human-created and AI-enriched videos.

The Future of AI Filmmaking

Flow is only in the initial stages of testing, but initial demos are promising. With Veo 3 getting better, we may witness AI-made films compete with Hollywood blockbusters in the near future. Until then, it’s an effective tool for marketers, educators, and writers who can reduce time and cost constraints.

Google hasn’t revealed pricing, but given the trend for AI tools like Gemini, we can anticipate free and premium options. One thing’s for sure: AI video-making just became a whole lot more accessible, and the creative potential is limitless.

Ready to give it a go? Watch out for Google’s AI Test Kitchen—Flow might arrive sooner rather than later!

Syrian Couple Names Son “Trump Ahmed” to Celebrate Sanctions Relief

Syrian Couple Names Son "Trump Ahmed" to Celebrate Sanctions Relief

In a headline-grabbing gesture, a Syrian couple from the central province of Homs has named their newborn son Trump Ahmed Al Sattouf. The naming honours former U.S. President Donald Trump, following reports that he moved to ease sanctions on Syria.

The decision came after Trump’s high-profile visit to Saudi Arabia and the Gulf region. During the visit, he reportedly announced the easing of some U.S. sanctions on Damascus.

The couple’s choice has sparked widespread attention in Arab media, generating a mix of admiration, satire and debate. “In many parts of the Arab world, naming a child after a political figure can be a symbol of hope or appreciation,” the report noted.

A Personal Act of Optimism

For the Al Sattouf family, the naming was deeply personal. “We’ve suffered for too long. Maybe this is a sign that things will change,” the baby’s father said in a local interview. Naming his son after Trump, he explained, was a hopeful gesture in the face of years of hardship and uncertainty.

Though symbolic, the act has drawn attention to the long-standing plight of Syrians living under U.S. sanctions. These sanctions began in 1979 and escalated after Syria’s civil war broke out in 2011.

The restrictions reached a peak with the Caesar Syria Civilian Protection Act in 2019, which led to sweeping measures that crippled the country’s economy.

Syria now suffers from hyperinflation, poverty and shortages of basic necessities like food, fuel and medicine. Whether Trump, Ahmed Al Sattouf will one day understand the global politics behind his name remains uncertain. But for now, he stands as a symbol of one family’s hope and the struggles of a nation seeking relief.

We’re Doing a Big Deal With Pakistan: Trump

We’re Doing a Big Deal With Pakistan Trump

President Donald Trump claimed credit once again for mediating a ceasefire between India and Pakistan. He said his government helped reduce tensions through trade talks with both nuclear-armed nations.

During a White House meeting with South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, Trump stated, “If you look at what we only accomplished with Pakistan and India, we resolved that whole thing and I think I settled it via trade.”

He added, “We’re doing a big deal with India. We’re doing a big deal with Pakistan.”

Commenting on the India-Pakistan tensions, Trump said, “You know, someone had to be the last one to shoot. But the shooting was getting worse and worse, bigger and bigger, deeper and deeper into the country. We contacted them and… we arrived at it. Two days later something else occurred and they claimed it was Trump’s fault.”

Trump also praised Pakistan’s leadership. He said the country has “some really good leaders and some really nice people.”

Meanwhile, the meeting with Ramaphosa took a tense turn. Trump repeated false claims about white genocide and land seizures in South Africa. The meeting echoed his controversial session with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy in February.

Despite most violent crime victims in South Africa being Black, the country has one of the highest murder rates globally.

Ramaphosa aimed to rebuild relations with the U.S. after Trump had cut aid to South Africa. Trump had also welcomed white Afrikaner refugees, expelled South Africa’s ambassador, and criticized its genocide case against Israel.

To manage trade discussions, Ramaphosa came prepared for a tough meeting. He even brought along famous white South African golfers. South Africa is the U.S.’s second-largest trading partner. Under Trump’s suspended tariffs, the country faces a 30% import tax.

Pakistan Will Not get Water Over Which India has Rights: Narendra Modi

Pakistan will not get Water over Which India has Rights: Narendra Modi
Pakistan will not get Water over Which India has Rights: Narendra Modi

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Thursday that Pakistan will not get water from rivers over which India has rights. His statement came a month after an attack in Indian-controlled Kashmir led India to suspend the Indus Waters Treaty. This treaty, signed in 1960 with help from the World Bank, manages water sharing between the two countries.

On April 22, an attack killed 26 people, mostly Hindu tourists. India blamed Pakistan for supporting the attackers, though Pakistan denied it. In response, India took several steps, including suspending the water treaty. This led to the worst military tension between the two countries in almost 30 years. A ceasefire was agreed on May 10.

At a public event in Rajasthan, Modi warned: “Pakistan will have to pay a heavy price for every terrorist attack … Pakistan’s army will pay it, Pakistan’s economy will pay it.”

Water Treaty’s Importance to Pakistan

The Indus Waters Treaty gives Pakistan access to water from three rivers that flow from India. These rivers support 80% of Pakistan’s farmland. Despite the suspension, Pakistan’s finance minister said earlier this month that the move would not have “any immediate impact.”

The ceasefire is mostly holding. Indian Foreign Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar told Dutch outlet NOS, “There is no exchange of fire currently and there has been some repositioning of forces accordingly.”

He added, “The (military) operation continues because there is a clear message…that if there are acts of the kind we saw on April 22, there will be a response, we will hit the terrorists. If the terrorists are in Pakistan, we will hit them where they are.”

Pakistan has not yet responded to the latest comments by Modi and Jaishankar.

Long History of Tension

India and Pakistan have had a troubled relationship since their separation in 1947. They have fought three wars—two of them over Kashmir. Both countries claim the region fully, but control only parts of it.

India also accuses Pakistan of backing Islamist separatists in its part of Kashmir. Pakistan denies this. Since April, both countries have taken strict steps. These include halting trade, closing land borders, and stopping most visa services.
