On Wednesday, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) unveiled a 16-player squad for the upcoming three-match T20 International series against Bangladesh.
The selectors chose the squad based on players’ performances in the ongoing HBL PSL X, which will end on May 25. This series also marks Mike Hesson’s first official assignment after his recent appointment.
The series will see Agha Salman head the Pakistan team. Shadab Khan, Fakhar Zaman, Faheem Ashraf, and Abrar Ahmed are all part of the team. Haris Rauf, Hasan Ali, Hasan Nawaz, Hussain Talat, Khushdil Shah, Mohammad Irfan, Mohammad Haris, Mohammad Wasim Jr, Saim Ayub, Sahibzada Farhan and Naseem Shah are all discussed.
All games will occur at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on May 27, 29, and 31.
Pakistan Squad for Bangladesh Series
In Dubai, officials from the Pakistan Cricket Board had fruitful discussions with their Bangladesh counterparts, therefore verifying the Bangladesh Cricket Board for the trip.
Only three T20Is will make up the brief tour. The Pakistan Cricket Board has officially confirmed the match schedule.
Bangladesh originally planned to play five T20Is starting May 25 in Faisalabad, Pakistan. However, the PCB has cut the schedule to three matches, all set to happen at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium. Officials will reveal the revised timetable in the coming days.

India’s Foreign Secretary Denies US Role in Ceasefire with Pakistan
India’s Foreign Secretary, Vikram Misri, stated that the United States played no part in the ceasefire between India and Pakistan. Indian media reported this on Tuesday. His statement came despite US President Donald Trump’s repeated claims of having helped settle the ceasefire. Pakistan’s Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif, had also thanked Trump.
Last month, a deadly attack occurred in Pahalgam, located in Indian-administered Kashmir. India accused Pakistan of carrying it out, although no evidence was provided. Pakistan denied the allegations and called for an independent investigation. As tensions escalated, reports suggested that American intervention had helped ease the standoff.
Misri Denies Foreign Role in Ceasefire Talks
However, during a meeting with the Parliamentary Committee on External Affairs, led by Congress MP Shashi Tharoor, Misri denied any foreign mediation. “The offer for a ceasefire came from Pakistan and no other country was involved,”the Hindustan Times quoted a senior lawmaker present at the meeting as saying.
When MPs asked about Trump’s public statements, Misri responded, “New Delhi had routine talks with the US, but there was no mediation.”
This was Misri’s first appearance before the 31-member panel. The meeting lasted over three hours and included many questions directed at him.
MPs Question India’s Silence on Trump’s Claims
Press Trust of India also cited sources saying Misri “reiterated the government’s stand that the decision to stop military actions was taken at a bilateral level,” denying any third-party involvement.
Panel members questioned why India had not publicly responded to Trump’s repeated claims. One MP asked, “Trump publicly claimed at least seven times that he facilitated the ceasefire. Why was India silent?”Another asked why India had “allowed Trump to repeatedly seize the narrative.”
India Today reported that members felt “India neither involved the US in the discussions with Pakistan nor was India involved in the US’s decision to announce it.”
The Times of India added that Misri explained Trump had made his claims on social media, not through any formal channels. This, he said, made it difficult for India to respond officially.
No Signs of Nuclear Escalation
During the in-camera session, Misri also said there was no chance of “restoration of normalcy with Pakistan in the near future.”
He added that there was no “nuclear signalling” from Pakistan during the military standoff. According to the Hindustan Times, Misri said the confrontation remained “entirely in the conventional domain and involved no ‘nuclear signalling’ from the other side”.
This comes despite Defence Minister Khawaja Asif’s earlier warning of an “all-out war” and Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar’s recent remark that “a nuclear war was never an option for the government.”

Voucher Payment
Voucher Payment enables customers to make transactions by paying through JazzCash Agents. Customer receives a 12 digit Voucher Number with the required amount to be paid via SMS.
Supported Card Scheme
JazzCash offers a wide range of card payment support and is integrated with MasterCard Payment Gateway Services (MPGS) to amuse its esteemed clients and merchants.
It leverages its MPGS’s features to offer banks, partners, and merchants a distinctive and excellent worldwide payments solution.
Here are a few advantages:
You have complete control over the whole payment process.
It connects to any website, call center, billing system, application, or Interactive Voice Response (IVR).
The scheme enables the merchant to interact with the MasterCard Payment Gateway directly and then use JazzCash to get a real-time answer to the API call. The payer stays in the merchant’s application during this synchronous connection.
Supports advanced MasterCard Payment Gateway operations such as capture, refund, void and queries where the payer is not directly involved.
Tokenisation
JazzCash allows merchants to store customers’ card payment details by generating a token linked to their customer profile. This token is created by the MasterCard Payment Gateway Solution (MPGS) upon a valid request from JazzCash after a complete authorisation process.
The token effectively replaces the actual card details in the transaction request sent to the payment gateway. Here are some benefits of this system:
Since the payment gateway manages the sensitive card information collected from the customer, merchants face fewer PCI compliance requirements.
If the token is saved alongside the customer’s data, it can be reused when the customer returns for another purchase.
This process improves the payment experience for customers, as they do not have to enter their complete card details each time they make a purchase.
Merchants receive notifications from the gateway regarding any significant operations performed with the token.
Merchants have the flexibility to implement additional security measures for returning customers, such as requesting the CVV or checking 3DS verification for each transaction. This includes the ability to configure 3DS limit profile rules.
3D Secure
JazzCash supports 3D Secure for added protection during online payments.
This authentication service is designed by MPGS to protect online purchases against credit card fraud by allowing the e-commerce website to authenticate the payer before submitting an Authorisation or Pay transaction.
3DS authentication works by redirecting the payer to their card issuer, where they enter a previously registered password.
Hashing Scheme
Secure Hash is used to detect whether a transaction request and response have been tampered with.
The shared secret generated for the merchant during registration is included in the transaction message. An HMAC-SHA256 algorithm is then applied to create a secure hash. This secure hash is sent to the receiving entity along with the transaction message.
Since the receiving entity is the only other party, besides the transaction initiator, that is aware of the shared secret, it can recreate the same secure hash and compare it to the one in the request message.
If the secure hashes match, the receiving entity will proceed with processing the transaction. However, if they do not match, it indicates that the transaction request may have been tampered with, and the receiving entity will halt processing, returning an error message.
This security feature is recommended to protect transactions, but it is not mandatory.
IPN Web Hook
To provide valuable features for merchants, JazzCash offers a notification system that informs them when a payment is marked as successful.
To integrate this service, merchants are required to expose a transaction status update SOAP web service that allows the Payment Gateway to update the status of transactions that are not executed immediately.
ITN Web Hook
To entertain the merchant with the useful feature of tokenisation, JazzCash provides the merchant a way to be notified about the crucial operations.
To integrate with it, the merchant will be required to expose a Rest based Api for the Payment Gateway to update the status of the token.
How to Make a Transaction Through JazzCash
These easy steps will help you make a transaction from your JazzCash account:

On May 20, 2025, the Supreme Court of Pakistan upheld the death sentence of Zahir Jaffer for the brutal murder of Noor Mukadam, a case that had deeply impacted the nation. The three-member bench, led by Justice Hashim Kakar, including Justices Ishtiaq Ibrahim and Ali Baqar Najafi, dismissed Jaffer’s appeal, affirming the decisions of the trial court and the Islamabad High Court (IHC).
Noor Mukadam, 27, was found murdered at Jaffer’s residence in Islamabad on July 20, 2021.Investigations revealed she was tortured and beheaded.Jaffer was arrested at the scene, and forensic evidence, including DNA and fingerprints, confirmed his involvement.
Legal Proceedings and Appeals
In February 2022, a sessions court sentenced Jaffer to death for murder and 25 years of rigorous imprisonment for rape. The IHC upheld the death sentence and converted the rape sentence into a second death penalty in March 2023.Jaffer appealed to the Supreme Court, arguing that the evidence was insufficient and that media coverage had influenced the trial.
During the Supreme Court hearings, Jaffer’s counsel contended that the evidence must be beyond doubt and criticised the prosecution’s reliance on incomplete footage. However, the bench maintained the death sentence for murder under Section 302(b) of the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) and reverted the IHC’s decision on the rape charge, reinstating the original 25-year sentence.
Case History
The court also addressed the appeals of co-accused Mohammad Iftikhar (watchman) and Jan Mohammad (gardener), who were sentenced to 10 years for preventing Noor from escaping.Their sentences were upheld. An appeal by Noor’s father against the acquittal of Jaffer’s parents was among the pending pleas.
Noor’s father, Shaukat Mukadam, a retired diplomat, had filed the initial complaint. He recounted that on July 19, 2021, Noor informed her parents she was travelling to Lahore with friends.Later, he received a call from Jaffer stating Noor was not with him.On July 20, the police informed him of Noor’s murder.
The case garnered significant public attention, highlighting issues of gender-based violence and the importance of justice. The Supreme Court’s decision marks the culmination of a prolonged legal process, reinforcing the rule of law.

Spanish PM Urges Eurovision Ban on Israel Over Gaza War
Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez has asked for Israel to be banned from the Eurovision Song Contest because of its military actions in Gaza. He pointed out that Russia was banned from Eurovision in 2022 after invading Ukraine, and said the same rule should apply to Israel.
Sánchez said during a press conference in Madrid: “Nobody was up in arms when the Russian invasion of Ukraine began three years ago and [Russia] had to leave international competitions and could not take part, as we have just seen, in Eurovision. Therefore, Israel shouldn’t either, because what we cannot allow is double standards in culture.”
Israel came second in the Eurovision final held in Switzerland and won the public vote. Spanish viewers gave Israel the highest score of 12 points. This result led Israeli Minister for Diaspora Affairs Amichai Chikli to mock Sánchez on social media, calling the vote a “slap in the face”for the Spanish Prime Minister, which they “heard in Jerusalem.”
Consistent Cultural Standards Across Europe
BBC News has contacted the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), which organises Eurovision, for a response.
Sánchez also showed his support for Palestinians, saying, “Spain’s commitment to international law and human rights must be constant and must be coherent. Europe should be too.”Last year, Spain officially recognised the state of Palestine. The Prime Minister has been a strong critic of Israel and recently called it a “genocidal state” in Congress.
Israel has rejected any claims of genocide and summoned Spain’s ambassador over Sánchez’s remarks. Despite warnings from the EBU to avoid political messages, Spain’s broadcaster RTVE showed a message supporting Palestinians before the Eurovision final. RTVE has also asked for an audit of the votes after Spain awarded 12 points to Israel. Spain’s own entry, “Esa Diva”by Melody, finished 24th.

Pakistan Denies Indian Claims of Using Shaheen Missile Amid Military Tensions
Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has forcefully dismissed India’s assertion that it had employed a Shaheen missile in Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos. In a release on Monday, the Foreign Office described the allegation as “entirely unsubstantiated” and accused India of spreading misinformation during recent military tensions.
The allegation came from a since-deleted tweet by the official X handle of the Indian Army, which had posted a video purportedly showing Pakistan test-firing a Shaheen missile. Within hours, the tweet was deleted without comment, but not before Indian media had spread it far and wide.
Pakistan Denies Indian Claims of Using Shaheen Missiles Amid Military Tensions
Islamabad Pushes Back
“Pakistan categorically rejects the deployment of any Shaheen missile,” read the Foreign Office statement, referencing official military records. The May 12 ISPR press release corroborated that Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos utilised Fatah-series missiles, precision drones, and long-range artillery—but no Shaheen.
The Foreign Office denounced the Indian Army for providing “neither clarification nor retraction” after removing the video, describing the silence as “unprofessional and deliberate.”
Strategic Distraction?
Analysts in Islamabad believe the misinformation serves a deeper purpose: to mask India’s losses during Operation Sindoor. “This false claim is part of New Delhi’s broader attempt to rewrite the narrative,” one analyst said, referring to allegations of “nuclear blackmail” and fabricated threats.
The FO added that such misinformation “undermines regional stability” and erodes trust in diplomatic processes.
Rising Tensions
The missile misinformation follows a perilous escalation that started on April 22 with the attack at Pahalgam that left 26 civilians dead. India blamed Pakistan right away, causing a rapid deterioration of diplomatic relations. India suspended the Indus Waters Treaty, shut down border crossings, cancelled visas, and recalled diplomats.
Source: Arab News
Tensions boiled over on May 7 as Indian missile attacks killed dozens in Punjab and Azad Jammu and Kashmir. Pakistan reacted forcefully, downing three Rafale aircraft and launching Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos on May 10, destroying key Indian military infrastructure.
A Fragile Ceasefire
Later that day, U.S. President Donald Trump negotiated a ceasefire. Within minutes, the two sides confirmed the deal. But with false information continuing to emerge and confidence dwindling, peace is far from assured.
As a diplomat said: “Truth is the first casualty of war. But accountability must be the first step to peace.”

Pakistan Rejects Indian Allegation of Attack on Golden Temple
Pakistan has categorically rejected India’s allegations regarding an alleged attack on the Golden Temple in Indian Punjab.
In a statement, the Foreign Office of Pakistan said India made a misplaced and misleading allegation.“Pakistan has the highest respect for all religious shrines and would never even think of attacking a shrine as holy as the Golden Temple,”said the spokesperson.
The FO spokesperson also stated that on the night of May 6-7, India targeted places of worship in Pakistan. The statement further added, “These allegations are a clear attempt by India to shift focus away from its own unacceptable behaviour against religious places.”
The statement also continued, “Pakistan is a proud guardian of Sikh religious heritage,” underscoring its respect for religious heritage, especially Sikh heritage. The Foreign Office said thousands of Sikh pilgrims come to Pakistan every year. It added that Pakistan supports their religious journey by allowing visa-free travel through the Kartarpur Corridor.
Statement by the Foreign Office of Pakistan
The spokesperson again clarified that the Indian claims regarding the Golden Temple are absolutely baseless and false. The official stated that the Indian side is attempting to divert attention from its own activities and create a propaganda atmosphere by making such serious allegations.
The news also mentioned yet another development. Sikhs for Justice declared the Khalistan Referendum-II in Surrey, Canada, according to the original source.

Trump reported that the Vatican extended an offer to host the peace negotiations. He referred to it as a site of “symbolic power” and reported that the Pope himself invited the move. “Let the process begin,” Trump posted on Truth Social.
European leaders Macron, Merz, and Meloni welcomed the Vatican’s role and expressed being prepared to facilitate efforts to cease the war.
Zelenskyy Responds
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy wasted no time. “We’re ready,” he declared. “Our delegates can negotiate today. But we want a full and unconditional ceasefire.”
Zelenskyy suggested Switzerland and Turkiye as other possible locations but invited the Vatican too—if Russia is genuine. “We don’t need convincing,”he added. “What we need is Russia’s honesty.”
Russia Moves, But Slowly
Putin stated the negotiations are “on the right track,” and that Moscow would be prepared to sit down and write a peace memorandum. Yet the Kremlin is not hurrying. Spokesman Dmitry Peskov warned, “There are no deadlines. The devil is in the details.”
In recent Istanbul meetings, Russia insisted Ukraine retreat from lands that Moscow considers its own—something Kyiv categorically refuses.

Trump Takes Centre Stage
Trump has taken the role of chief negotiator. Following the call with Putin, he briefed Zelenskyy and senior EU officials. He also hinted at a subsequent meeting with Putin. “He didn’t go to Istanbul because I wasn’t there,” Trump stated. “When we meet, we’ll either solve it or we won’t. But we’ll know.”
This boastful statement, characteristic of Trump’s brash demeanor, implies he believes he is the sole individual able to seal the deal.
What’s Next?
No dates. No promises. Just an unusual instance of agreement between two belligerent nations—and a one-time U.S. president determined to influence the result.
The world looks on for now at the Vatican. The hope: that this time, talk becomes peace.

There’s something brewing at the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), and this time, it might just be more than cosmetic. The board has officially kicked off its search for a new, specialized coaching staff for the men’s national team.
They’ve opened applications for multiple roles including a batting coach, bowling coach, fielding coach, and even a strength & conditioning coach.
A Step Toward Specialisation
After years of makeshift solutions, overlapping job descriptions, and “interim” everything, this feels like a more structured approach from the PCB.
The move follows the appointment of Mike Hesson as the white-ball head coach — a name that brings credibility thanks to his successful stint with New Zealand and involvement in high-pressure T20 leagues.
With the Asia Cup 2025 on the horizon, Hesson won’t be enough on his own. Pakistan needs a tight, tactical support crew, and this hiring spree could be PCB’s way of saying: “Let’s get serious.”
If you followed Pakistan’s recent tour to New Zealand, you’d know that there was no bowling coach. For a country that has produced Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis, Shoaib Akhtar, and a conveyour belt of lethal pacers, going without a bowling coach was baffling.
During that tour, the trio of Mohammad Yousuf, Mohammad Masroor, and Drikus Saaiman formed the core of the coaching setup. While they all have solid credentials, none are specialist bowling coaches.
Who Can Apply?
The PCB has kept the process transparent, inviting applications from qualified professionals, and yes, even encouraging women to apply. A nice touch on the inclusion front, at least in theory.
Applicants have until 5 p.m. on June 6, 2025, to throw their hat into the ring. Detailed job descriptions are available on the PCB website, and as expected, only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
Is This the Real Deal or Just Another Spin?
Let’s be honest — Pakistani fans have heard it all before. “Resets”, “overhauls”, “five-year plans” — and then comes the merry-go-round of familiar names returning in slightly tweaked roles.
So, naturally, there’s a healthy dose of skepticism in the air. But here’s the flip side: this could work.
If Hesson is truly given the freedom to build his own support staff, and if selections are made on merit instead of connections, we might finally see a coaching structure that matches international standards.
And with Pakistan’s talent pool, that’s all we’ve really needed — consistency, clarity, and competence.

Schedule For Pakistan-Bangladesh T20I Series Revealed
After weeks of back-and-forth, last-minute meetings, and tense uncertainty, the cricketing clouds have finally cleared, as the Bangladesh team is coming to Pakistan! And cricket fans can breathe a sigh of relief.
Yes, it’s official. The Bangladesh men’s team will tour Pakistan for a three-match T20I series, and Lahore’s historic Gaddafi Stadium will host all the action.
A Diplomatic Masterstroke
When it comes to pulling off something under pressure, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi just delivered a match-winning performance, off the field.
Reports confirm that Naqvi flew to Dubai on a one-day emergency trip, meeting Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) Chairman Nazmul Abedeen and President Farooq Ahmed.
The talks, as sources put it, weren’t just casual handshakes and smiles. It was a several-hour-long meeting, full of negotiations, reassurances, and cricket diplomacy at its finest.
Naqvi’s direct intervention salvaged the tour, which was on the verge of being scrapped altogether due to multiple concerns.
Pakistan-Bangladesh Series Shortened
Initially, Pakistan and Bangladesh were to play a five-match T20I series, kicking off in Faisalabad on May 25. But that itinerary has now been trimmed. Instead, we’re getting a three-match series, with all games to be played in Lahore.
While some fans may feel a bit short-changed, this compromise ensures that the series actually happens, which, given the recent uncertainty, is a win in itself.
The exact schedule will be announced in the coming days, but the message is clear: cricket wins.
What Was the Hold-Up?
Sources suggest that regional tensions, particularly between India and Pakistan, and negative propaganda, played a role in delaying the tour confirmation. There were even whispers of player reluctance within the Bangladesh squad.
Add to that the logistical shuffle following the mid-season pause in PSL 10, and the entire plan was hanging by a thread. But Chairman Naqvi’s hands-on approach helped cut through the noise. His message was simple: “Let’s play cricket.”
And credit to the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB)—they responded positively, showing faith in Pakistan’s ability to host safely and professionally.

Apple Launches Accessibility Tools to Support Vision and Hearing-Impaired Users
Tech giants are now aligning themselves with people of all abilities, trying to make themselves easily accessible. Apple has revealed a revolutionary new range of accessibility tools specifically for users who are visually and hearing impaired, reaffirming its mission to make technology more inclusive. Revealed on the eve of Global Accessibility Awareness Day, the new features include live captions, braille support, voice duplication, and screen magnification on iPhone, iPad, and Mac products.
Source: Apple
Accessibility: Built-In, Not Add-On
Apple’s Senior Director of Global Accessibility Policy, Sarah Herrlinger, underscored that accessibility is not something that Apple can afford—it’s the norm.
“All of this is open to you straight out of the box at no extra cost,” Herrlinger said. “It’s more cost-effective for users to have several tools integrated into one device instead of purchasing individual aids.”
Apple devices now come with a new feature named “Personal Voice,” which enables users whose speech is at risk of being lost to recapture their own voice by simply using 10 recorded phrases. The feature is fully on-device, providing both control and privacy.
Powerful Features for Everyday Use
For those with weaker eyesight, Apple has added screen magnification to Macs and iPhones. Zooming in on physical objects such as whiteboards and presentations is now possible with users having the ability to customise contrast, brightness, and colour.
Braille support has also been greatly improved, with the addition of note-taking, mathematical input in Nemeth braille, and better device compatibility.
Apple Launches Accessibility Tools to Support Vision and Hearing-Impaired Users
Individuals who are hearing-impaired will also get a boost from Live Listen, which enables AirPods to act as hearing aids by boosting sound in public places such as auditoriums or classrooms. This is an extension of an earlier update that made AirPods assistive listening devices.
App Stores Get Accessibility “Nutrition Labels”
In a significant policy change, developers must now include accessibility nutrition labels on their apps. The labels will tell users whether an app is compatible with VoiceOver, large text, voice control, or other inclusive features.
“It gives developers a real chance to get it, to really get what it means to be accessible,” Herrlinger said.
Impact Beyond Tech
Vision Australia’s blind Chris Edwards praised the move. “This is not just about convenience. It’s about inclusion,”he said.
There is no doubt that the Apple accessibility tools will create a massive impact on the life of users who wish to be included.

DG ISPR Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry has clearly stated that Pakistan depends on its own strength and will. Speaking to China’s CGTN, he said, “The most important thing is Pakistan’s resolve and its own strength. After Allah, we rely on ourselves and our own power. So only if we are resolute and have a strong commitment, which we have already shown [in the recent powerful response to Indian aggression], the international community will also play its complete role.”
He pointed out that the world today faces bigger problems like climate change, misinformation and growing populations. In this context, he questioned India’s attempt to dominate others without evidence. “In such a situation, should a country try to impose hegemony on other countries around it on the basis of a false narrative, for no reason and without any evidence?”
Military Response and Casualties
After India’s continued unprovoked aggression, Pakistan responded with “Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos” on May 10, targeting several Indian military sites. The operation, described as “precise and proportionate,” came after New Delhi blamed Pakistan for an attack in IIOJK that killed 26 tourists. No evidence was provided.
Pakistan downed six Indian fighter jets, including three Rafale and dozens of drones. A ceasefire was reached after 87 hours with the help of the United States. According to ISPR, 53 Pakistanis — 13 armed forces personnel and 40 civilians — were martyred in the Indian strikes.
Lt Gen Chaudhry said,“The Pakistani nation, we have never bowed down nor ever will. Because I have said it before and will say it again — for us, the wish to embrace martyrdom is more beloved than living.”
Commitment to Peace and Cooperation
He emphasised Pakistan and China’s shared focus on peace, saying, “The prosperity and well-being of the people come from peace and stability.” He called terrorism a major hurdle in progress and said, “We are making efforts against it, on our own and with the help of our friends.”
On internal security, he concluded, “We now have to turn this iron wall [Bunyan-um-Marsoos] — that includes the people, armed forces and all elements of national power — towards the menace of terrorism.”

World-renowned astronomers have expressed that the moon for the month of Zil-Hajj in Islam will not be observable on May 27 in Pakistan. Astronomer Dr. Faheem Hashmi reported that the new moon will not be visible on that evening. He clarified, “The moon will be just 11 hours old when it rises at sunset—a time that is deemed too young to be visible to the naked eye.”
This indicates that Zil-Hajj can begin on May 29. According to this, Eid-ul-Adha is bound to be celebrated on June 7. This will, however, be subject to the official announcement made by the moon sighting committee.
Dr. Faheem Hashmi also stated that the moon will probably be visible on May 28 rather than 27. He added, “The moon will be over 35 hours on May 28.” This raises the hopes of the moon being visible, and thus Zil-Hajj will probably start on May 29. Hence, Eid-ul-Azha may be celebrated on Saturday, June 7.
These words of Dr. Hashmi indicate a high likelihood that Eid-ul-Adha will not fall on June 6, as was previously presumed by some. Rather, owing to the moon’s age, there are greater chances that the day of Eid will be June 7.
The last dates, however, will be ascertained by the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee after sighting of the moon in the country. In the meantime, such predictions by experts such as Dr. Faheem Hashmi provide an approximate idea of the lunar calendar.
These are crucial remarks for individuals who are getting ready to observe Eid-ul-Adha, especially those organising Qurbani and travel bookings. Nevertheless, it will be confirmed later through the official channels once the committee sits and gathers evidence from moon sightings from all over Pakistan.

After India Suspends Indus Water Treaty, China Fast-Tracks Mohmand Dam in Pakistan
The past month has been quite intense politically for both Pakistan and India. After the Pahalgam Attack on 22 April, India retaliated by suspending the Indus Water Treaty as the country blamed Pakistan for the deadly terrorist attack, which killed 26 people in Indian Illegally Occupied Kashmir. India, despite having no evidence against Pakistan, threatened to stop its water supply, affecting millions of civilians. Following this, the two countries have had a military standoff, which has affected the armed forces as well as civilians.
Even though the tensions have cooled down for now, thanks to US President Donald Trump, the threat of water constantly looms over Pakistan’s head. While India will need significant infrastructure to stop water flowing to Pakistan, in the short run, this means that India is no longer obliged to adhere to the outlines of the treaty, like sharing hydrological data, which is crucial for flood forecasting and planning for irrigation, hydropower, and drinking water. The treaty in the long run will cause a shortage of water and also affect the agriculture of Pakistan.
China Responds with Fast-tracking the Mohmand Dam.
China has long been a trustworthy ally to Pakistan. After the illegal suspension of the Indus Water Treaty, China has announced plans to accelerate work on a “flagship” Mohmand dam in Pakistan to ease pressure related to water. The dam was originally planned to be completed in 2026 by the China Energy Engineering in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa; however, in light of recent tension between Pakistan and India, China has taken the much-needed step to accelerate the building process.
Swat River in KPK
On Saturday, Chinese Broadcaster CCTV reported that one of the major steps in completion of the dam, concrete filling, has commenced. It is being described as a “critical construction milestone” which officially marks the fast-tracking of the national flagship project of Pakistan.
The main aim of the Mohmand Dam, being constructed over the Swat River, is to mitigate flood risks, irrigated agricultural land of over 16,737 acres, generate hydropower, and economically uplift Pakistan’s economy. Given the recent times, the timely construction of the dam has become even more important.

Navy Stopped Threat From Indian Aircraft Carrier_ Shehbaz Sharif
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif arrived in Karachi on Monday to appreciate the Pakistan Navy’s efforts. During his visit to the Pakistan Naval Dockyard, naval officials briefed the prime minister on the navy’s strategy. They also discussed its operations and role in the recent conflict.
The prime minister praised the navy for its strong defence at sea. He said it had protected the country’s sea routes through a solid, layered defence system. He also added that the navy was fully prepared and hence would have given a powerful response if India had attacked from the sea.
While speaking to naval officers, PM Shehbaz said, “Indian Navy’s (aircraft carrier) Vikrant came close to Pakistan, about 400 nautical miles away. But after taking heavy losses from the Pakistan Air Force and Pakistan Army elsewhere, Vikrant pulled back, knowing the Pakistan Navy was ready to strike back with full force.”
He spoke about the navy’s history of successful operations. He said, “Strong coordination among the armed forces is a golden chapter in the country’s history.” Sharif recalled the 1965 ‘Operation Dwarka,’ highlighting that the navy still has the strength to carry out similar high-level missions whenever needed.
The Prime Minister stated that ground troops contributed significantly to the recent conflict by accurately striking enemy targets with Fatah missiles and other weapons. He commended the navy for its vigilance, skill, and ability to defend against maritime threats. He also acknowledged the navy’s efforts in maintaining the security of maritime trade routes throughout the conflict.
“I congratulate Pakistan Navy for the achievements it achieved over the past 15 years with indigenous technology,”he said.
PM Shehbaz made it clear that Pakistan is ready to give a stronger reply if India violates the ceasefire again.
