Pakistan Honours Hussain Dawood with Hilal-i-Imtiaz
In recognition of his contributions to education and community development, Mr. Hussain Dawood has been awarded the Hilal-i-Imtiaz, one of Pakistan’s highest civilian honours.
For decades, he has supported initiatives that have transformed educational access for thousands. Dawood Public School has delivered high-quality education to girls since the 1980s. Similarly, the Karachi School of Business & Leadership (KSBL) was founded to cultivate purpose-driven leaders for the future capable of competing in a global, knowledge-based and technology-driven economy. Furthermore, through the Engro Foundation, schools in underserved areas have helped thousands of children gain access to high-quality education.

The Centre aims to close the gap between Pakistan’s education system and real-world innovation, ensuring that students are prepared to compete in a science-driven economy. In a short time, it has earned a position as one of Karachi’s top attractions, enthralling children and adults alike with its engaging exhibits.

In a groundbreaking move for Pakistan’s sustainability-focused financial sector, Parwaaz Financial Services Limited (PFSL), a subsidiary of Karandaaz Pakistan, has launched the country’s first-ever PKR-denominated Green Bond under the Parwaaz Green Action Bond initiative. The bond, which is also the first ever Green Bond to be listed on the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), aims to mobilise capital for environmentally sustainable projects and strengthen Pakistan’s green investment ecosystem.
The PKR 1 billion bond includes investment commitments from leading financial institutions—including Bank Alfalah, Bank of Khyber, Allied Bank, Pak Brunei Investment Company Ltd., Pak China Investment Company Ltd., Pak Libya Holding Company Ltd., Pak Oman Investment Company, Saudi Pak Industrial & Agricultural Investment Company Ltd., and Al Falah Insurance. The initiative reflects strong investor confidence in Pakistan’s green finance sector.
At the launch, Mr. Muhammad Aurangzeb, Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, underscored its importance: “Pakistan’s economic resilience depends on our ability to embrace sustainability in finance. The launch of this Green Bond is a testament to our commitment to fostering an investment-friendly environment for climate initiatives. This initiative not only aligns with the transformation of Pakistan’s financial sector but also paves the way for attracting green investments at scale.”
The UK has played a key role in bringing today’s Bond to market, including through specialist expertise to help structure it. PFSL received technical assistance from the UK government’s Mobilising Institutional Capital Through Listed Product Structures (MOBILIST) programme. Karandaaz Pakistan was also created with significant UK support. British High Commissioner, Jane Marriott CMG OBE, said: “This Green Bond is a brilliant example of how intelligent financial innovation can drive both private sector led economic growth and greater climate resilience. Pakistan needs $348 billion by 2030 to adapt and make the green transition, so the need to mobilise climate finance has never been more urgent. Congratulations to those who have helped to deliver today’s Bond, which is good for the economy and good for the planet.”
Karandaaz Pakistan has been at the forefront of mobilizing green finance. Syed Salim Raza, Chairperson of the Karandaaz Pakistan Board, reiterated Karandaaz’s long-term commitment to sustainability, stating, “Our vision for green finance is rooted in long-term economic resilience. This bond demonstrates that Pakistan can attract serious investment in sustainability-focused projects while ensuring that financial growth does not come at the cost of environmental degradation. The success of this initiative will pave the way for a more robust green financing ecosystem in the country.”
Speaking at the launch, Waqas ul Hasan, CEO of Karandaaz Pakistan, described the bond as “not just a milestone for Karandaaz and Parwaaz Financial Services but a defining moment for the entire financial sector of Pakistan. Karandaaz is proud to lead the way in mobilizing capital for green investments, ensuring financial instruments work for both economic progress and environmental sustainability. We will continue to strive for instruments which enable capital allocation to development outcomes of the country”
The bond builds upon PFSL’s existing track record in green financing. Mr. Javed Iqbal, CEO of PFSL, highlighted that “This bond is the result of years of strategic effort to create financial instruments that generate measurable environmental and economic impact. By directing capital into renewable energy and clean transportation, we are not only financing infrastructure but also laying the foundation for Pakistan’s green transition.”
Sindh Announces Holiday on April 4 to Honour Zulfikar Ali Bhutto
The Sindh government has declared April 4 a public holiday to mark the death anniversary of former Prime Minister and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) founder Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.
A notification from the provincial government confirmed that all government offices, autonomous bodies and educational institutions under its control will remain closed on the day.
This holiday follows the Eid ul Fitr holidays, which will end on April 2 in Sindh. The move reflects the province’s tradition of honouring Bhutto’s contributions to Pakistan.
Meanwhile, President Asif Ali Zardari awarded Nishan-e-Pakistan, the country’s highest civilian honour, to Zulfikar Ali Bhutto yesterday. The ceremony took place at Aiwan-i-Sadr, where Bhutto’s daughter, Sanam Bhutto, accepted the award on his behalf.
Zulfikar Ali Bhutto played a key role in shaping Pakistan’s politics. He served as prime minister from 1973 to 1977 and introduced major reforms in foreign policy and the economy. He also strengthened Pakistan’s nuclear programme and led the creation of the country’s first unanimous constitution in 1973.
However, his tenure ended when General Zia-ul-Haq overthrew his government in a military coup. A controversial trial led to Bhutto’s death sentence, and he was executed on April 4, 1979. Many debates over the trial’s fairness continue.
Each year, PPP leaders, workers and supporters gather at his mausoleum in Garhi Khuda Bakhsh to pay tribute. This year’s event will include party meetings, public addresses and a remembrance ceremony.
Bhutto’s influence remains strong in Pakistan’s politics, with his party still playing a key role. The public holiday in Sindh serves as a reminder of his legacy and lasting impact.

Pakistan and Bangladesh Drop ODIs for T20Is in Upcoming Series
Pakistan and Bangladesh decided to remove One Day Internationals (ODIs) from their upcoming bilateral series in May and July. Instead, they will play Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) to prepare for the 2026 T20 World Cup.
Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) Director of Media and Communications, Sami Ul Hasan, confirmed the change on Sunday. He stated that both teams want to focus on T20 cricket ahead of 2026 Men’s T20 World Cup, which will take place in India and Sri Lanka in February.
Bangladesh was originally set to tour Pakistan in May for three ODIs and three T20Is under the Future Tours Programme (FTP). However, Pakistan and Bangladesh boards agreed to replace the ODIs with two additional T20Is, making it a five-match T20I series.
Similarly, Pakistan was scheduled to visit Bangladesh in July for three ODIs, which were not part of the FTP. These matches will also be replaced with a three-match T20I series.
Before the T20 World Cup, both teams will also compete in the Asia Cup in India this September. The tournament will be played in the T20 format.
Currently, Pakistan is playing a five-match T20I series against New Zealand. The hosts lead the series 3-1, with one game left to play. After this, Pakistan and New Zealand will face off in a three-match ODI series from 29 March to 5 April.
Following these international commitments, Pakistan’s players will shift their focus to the 10th edition of the PSL. The tournament will take place from 11 April to 18 May, providing another platform for players to prepare for the T20 World Cup.
This shift in scheduling highlights Pakistan and Bangladesh teams’ commitment to strengthening their T20 performances ahead of the global event.

Sweeper Caught Stitching Wounds at Pattoki Hospital
Pattoki Tehsil Headquarters Hospital in Punjab has come under scrutiny after a viral video exposed shocking negligence in its emergency services. The video shows the sweeper caught stitching wounds while attending to a female patient, highlighting the poor state of emergency services at the hospital.
In the viral video, a sweeper named Abid caught stitching wounds and dressing injuries, due to the absence of qualified medical staff.
Following the video’s circulation, citizens expressed outrage over the lack of medicines and the absence of emergency staff at Pattoki Hospital. They claim that despite receiving substantial funds, the hospital remains under-equipped and mismanaged, raising serious concerns about corruption.
The Punjab government is now facing pressure to address the issue. Residents have urged Chief Minister Punjab to take immediate notice and hold those responsible accountable after reviewing the viral video.
Meanwhile, another case of medical negligence has surfaced in Lahore. In a separate incident, an infant girl suffered severe burns due to alleged negligence at Gangaram Hospital. The baby was placed in an incubator that malfunctioned, causing a temperature rise and resulting in burns.
According to the infant’s father, Rafaqat Ali, the hospital staff was uncooperative and rude when he questioned them about the incident. He alleged that they even expelled him from the nursery. He has appealed to Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz for justice and an investigation into the incident.
It is important to note that in 2023, a similar incident occurred when an infant died of burns after being exposed to overheating in an incubator at Lahore’s Children’s Hospital. The infant suffered burns due to severe negligence by doctors, nurses, and medical staff.

Tahajjud is one of the most rewarding voluntary prayers in Islam. This special night prayer holds immense significance in a Muslim’s spiritual journey. Tahajjud is performed after Isha and before Fajr in the last third of the night. However, most people often get confused about how to pray tahajjud.
The practice of waking up in the stillness of the night to pray brings believers closer to Allah and provides a unique opportunity to seek His mercy and guidance. Though Tahajjud is not obligatory it is an invite from the Almighty. Hence, many devoted Muslims try to incorporate it into their daily lives as a form of worship. The most important thing is that at this time, the door of repentance is wide open.
However, many believers often don’t know how to pray Tahajjud and overlook the importance of this night prayer. Little do they know what they are missing out on.
The Importance of Tahajjud Prayer
The Tahajjud prayer is highly emphasised in Islamic teachings. This prayer is believed to be the most virtuous among the Nafl prayers as it is part of the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). It is mentioned in the Quran and reinforced by numerous hadiths of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
Translation: ” And rise at ‘the last’ part of the night, offering additional prayers, so your Lord may raise you to a station of praise. ” (Quran, 17:79)
Reference From Hadith:
Abu Hurayra (Allah be pleased with him) reports that the Messenger of Allah, our beloved Prophet (PBUH) said,
“Our Lord (glorified and exalted be He) descends each night to the earth’s sky when there remains the final third of the night, and He says: ‘Who is saying a prayer to Me that I may answer it? Who is asking something of Me that I may give it him? Who is asking forgiveness of Me that I may forgive him?’” [Bukhari (also by Muslim, Malik, at-Tirmidhi and Abu Dawud)]
The hadith alone shows how important this phase of the night is for the believer. It is even advised by all the scholars that if one wishes to get anything, they must then ask it in Tahajjud. Otherwise, they don’t want it bad enough.
How To Pray Tahajjud: The Proper Methodology
Tahajjud is supposed to be prayed minimum of 2 Raka’ats each. The Sunnah is to pray up to 8 Raka’ats in total with 2 sets each. However, a believer can pray as many as they want until the fajr prayer given that there are at least two rak’ahs with one salutation (salam) for every two rak’ahs.
Before beginning, one must prepare themselves by performing Wudu (ablution), then find a quiet and clean space for prayer.
How to Pray Tahajjud? An Important Guide
Here are the step-by-step instructions on how to pray Tahajjud:
1. The Sunnah Tahajjud prayer starts with reciting the Niyyah (Intention) to pray. This Niyyah can be in the same way as the obligatory prayer or one can recite:
Translation: I intend to pray the Sunnah prayer of Tahajjud two raka’at for Allah s.w.t.
2. Once you have made your Niyyah, give the Takbir (Allahu-akbar) and perform two Raka’at prayers.
3. End the prayer after two Raka’at with salam.
4. Add your own prayers (dua) after you’ve completed the number of Raka’ats you set out to pray. Make sure that they are sincere, respectful and done in complete devotion to Allah. This is the ideal moment to be as vulnerable as possible.
5. Once the Tahajjud prayer is complete, it must be ended with a final Witr Salah. The Witr Prayer is the last prayer of the night.
Extra: Dua For Tahajjud
As narrated by Ibn `Abbas (R.A): When the Prophet (ﷺ) got up at night to offer the Tahajjud prayer, he used to say:

Translation: “Oh Allah, to You be praise, You are the light of the heavens and the earth, and everyone therein. To You be praise; You are the holder of the heavens and the earth, and everyone therein. To You be praise; You are True; Your promise is true; Paradise is true; Hell is true; the Hour is true; the Prophets are true and Muhammad is true. To You have I submitted; in You I put my trust and in You I have believed. To You I turn in repentance; by Your help I argue; to You I refer my case; so, forgive me for my past and future sins, what I have done in secret and what I have done openly. You are the One Who brings forward and puts back. None has the right to be worshipped but You, and there is none who has the right to be worshipped other than You.” (Sahih al-Bukhari 1120)
Tahajjud in Ramadan
During Ramadan, the significance of Tahajjud increases manifold. Many Muslims observe it in the form of Qiyam-ul-Laylor Tarawih. Here is why Tahajjud is very important to be prayed in Ramadan.
Laylatul Qadr: Praying Tahajjud during the last ten nights of Ramadan holds special blessings as it may coincide with Laylatul Qadr, a night better than a thousand months (Quran 97:3).
Extra Rewards: Since deeds are multiplied in Ramadan, praying Tahajjud becomes even more rewarding.
A Habit for the Whole Year: Ramadan trains Muslims to engage in extra prayers, and those who regularly pray Tahajjud during this month can continue even after Ramadan ends.
Tahajjud Time in Karachi
In Karachi, you can pray Tahajjud between 9:01 PM and 5:11 AM (preferably the latter). In Islamic tradition, the last third of the night is from approximately 2.30 AM to dawn, which is why this time is most recommended.
Now that you know how to pray Tahajjud, it is also important that you pray consistently so that you can maximise the benefits of this night. Make it a habit by these methods:
Avoid distractions that lead to late sleeping.
Set multiple alarms if needed to wake up on time.
Encourage a friend or family member to join you.
Make the intention to seek closeness to Allah rather than just a routine.
Remember the immense rewards promised for Tahajjud.
Attain the Most Out of this Night
There is no doubt that Tahajjud prayer strengthens faith, purifies the soul and draws one closer to Allah’s mercy. There are multiple miracle stories about this night vigil prayer that speak for themselves.
However, to attain all these benefits, you must know how to pray Tahajjud properly and by Sunnah and Hadith. Then only will you be able to avail the most of this night and attain a higher spiritual status.
May Allah grant us all the ability to consistently pray Tahajjud and accept our prayers. Ameen.

New Zealand dealt a crushing blow to Pakistan’s aspirations of levelling their T20 series, defeating them by 115 runs in the fourth game at Mount Maunganui. The Black Caps’ dominant performance in Pak vs New Zealand gave them an unbeatable 3-1 lead in the five-match series. However, there is one match remaining to be played.
New Zealand’s batting was on fire, spearheaded by Finn Allen’s 50 from 20 balls and Tim Seifert’s 44 off 22 balls. Their 59-run partnership in the opening stand put the innings on the right trajectory. Captain Michael Bracewell signed off in style, clubbing 46 not out off 26 balls to steer his side towards a strong 220-6.
Pak vs New Zealand: NZ Takes 3-1 Series Lead
Pakistan’s Batting Collapse
Pakistan’s pace attack could not hold back the hosts, though Haris Rauf did better with 3-27. The target the Kiwis left was impossible right from the beginning.
Pakistan’s collapse with the bat was nothing less than catastrophic in the Pak vs New Zealand match. The visitors were reduced to 9-3 within two overs, Jacob Duffy destroying by taking two wickets in the first over. Zak Foulkes then joined the wreckage by taking three wickets for 25 runs, reducing Pakistan to tatters at 56-8.
The lone two Pakistani batsmen who demonstrated any sort of resilience were Abdul Samad and Irfan Khan. Samad’s heroic unbeaten 44 prevented Pakistan from registering their lowest-ever T20 score. Irfan Khan scored 24, but the rest of the batting order collapsed, being unable to read the movement and turn coaxed by New Zealand bowlers.
Source: Sky Sports
Record-Breaking Defeat
Pakistan’s 105 all-out in the 17th over recorded their largest T20 loss by runs against any country, beating a 95-run defeat against New Zealand in Wellington nine years ago.
New Zealand’s triumph was thanks mostly to their accurate seam attack, which flourished under the floodlights. Even leg-spinner Ish Sodhi was able to turn the ball sharply, adding to Pakistan’s difficulty in the chase.
Talking after the match, Pakistan captain Ali Agha conceded the team had been comprehensively outplayed. “We have to give them credit, they bowled very well and they outplayed us. It was swinging and turning too. It did a lot in the second innings but we are an international team and we have to do better.”
With the last match approaching in Wellington, Pakistan is in for a tough fight to regain some dignity in a series that has already gone out of their hands.

South Korea’s Constitutional Court Reinstates Prime Minister Han
South Korea’s Constitutional Court has overturned the impeachment of Prime Minister Han Duck-soo, allowing him to resume his role as acting president. This ruling adds another twist to the political turmoil caused by the impeachment of President Yoon Suk-yeol.
In a 7-1 (a judicial ruling where seven judges voted in favour of one side, while one judge voted against it, resulting in a 7-1 majority decision) decision on Monday, the court dismissed Han’s impeachment. Five justices ruled that there was not enough evidence to justify his removal. Two others argued that the impeachment lacked legitimacy, as only 192 out of 300 lawmakers supported it—short of the required two-thirds majority.
Han became acting president after Yoon’s impeachment in mid-December. However, he was soon suspended for refusing to appoint three new justices to the Constitutional Court. But now with this ruling, he is now back in office.
After the verdict, Prime Minister Han thanked the court and vowed to focus on South Korea’s geopolitical challenges. He called for national unity, stating, “There is no place for division now. Our country’s priority is to move forward.”
Meanwhile, the Constitutional Court is still reviewing Yoon’s impeachment. A decision is expected soon, determining whether he will remain removed from office or be reinstated. If the court upholds his impeachment, a presidential election must take place within 60 days.
Yoon also faces criminal charges, including insurrection, linked to his brief imposition of martial law on December 3, 2024. If convicted, he could receive a life sentence or even the death penalty.
As South Korea navigates this crisis, the political landscape of the country remains uncertain. The final decision on Yoon’s future will shape the country’s leadership and political stability in the coming months.

The Saudi Red Crescent has successfully tested an emergency Marrkah air ambulance landing on a newly built helipad at the Masjid Al Haram (Grand Mosque) in Makkah, Saudi Arabia. This helipad is part of the third Saudi expansion of the holy mosque, which was recently completed. It has been designed to enhance emergency medical response and provide immediate medical assistance to millions of pilgrims who visit every year.
The newly constructed helipad is specifically made to support air ambulance operations, ensuring quick patient evacuations and transportation to nearby hospitals. This initiative is especially important during peak pilgrimage periods like Ramadan and Hajj when a large number of visitors can put pressure on medical resources. The dedicated air ambulance service aims to reduce response times and offer urgent care when needed.
According to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA), the health system provided over 40,000 health services to Umrah pilgrims during the first half of the holy month. The Ministry of Health stated that these efforts align with the Health Sector Transform Program and the Pilgrim Experience Program under Saudi Vision 2030.
Apart from focusing on pilgrims’ health and safety, the Ministry of Health also announced health requirements for the upcoming Hajj. It stated that pilgrims must be free from illnesses that could prevent them from safely performing Hajj. The Ministry recommended that pilgrims with chronic diseases carry documents verifying their health conditions and bring an adequate supply of their medications in their original packaging.
The Ministry further advised that pilgrims should update their vaccinations against essential diseases, including diphtheria, tetanus, whooping cough, polio, measles, chickenpox and mumps, in addition to the mandatory vaccines.

Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab has called on Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to fulfil his promises regarding various development projects for Karachi. He also asked the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) to clarify its position on local government powers.
Speaking at the inauguration of development work near Macchi Miani Market, Murtaza Wahab stressed the need to improve Karachi’s Old City area. He called it the foundation of the metropolis and promised to address its problems. Deputy Mayor Salman Abdullah Murad, PPP leader Javed Nagori, and other officials also attended the event.
Wahab said that they have now fixed the biggest issue in the city, which was sewerage. He urged Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori to go beyond attending Sehri and Iftar gatherings and visit different parts of the city.
Mayor stated that he has received a letter from Sindh Governor Kamran Khan Tessori, and will reply soon. He also reminded the governor that he has a role as a federal representative. “Being a representative of the federation, I hope that he will fulfil the promise of getting Rs100 billion from the federation for the city’s development,” he said. Wahab stressed that federal support is necessary to improve the city’s infrastructure.
Criticising MQM-P’s stance, Murtaza Wahab noted that they once supported decentralisation but now prefer the Pakistan Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (PIDCL) to handle projects instead of the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC). He urged the party to explain the reason for this change.
Murtaza Wahab officially concluded his speech with a statement that Karachi’s development must be a priority and that Pakistan’s national interests should never be compromised.

Sindh Cancels Eid Holidays for Transport Department
The Sindh government has cancelled all holidays for transport department officers and staff to prevent fare overcharging during Eidul Fitr. Officials will remain on duty throughout the festive period to monitor fares and enforce official rates.
Senior Minister for Transport Sharjeel Inam Memon announced the decision on Saturday. He stated that transport authorities would conduct a province-wide crackdown on transporters charging excessive fares. He assured the public that the government would protect citizens from unfair pricing.
“Overcharging is a common issue during Eid, and we will not allow transporters to exploit passengers,” Memon said. He warned that authorities would take strict action against violators.
The Sindh Transport Authority, along with regional and district transport bodies, will deploy officers at major transport hubs, bus terminals, and highways. These officers will inspect ticket prices, monitor transport companies, and penalise those who violate fare regulations. Officials will impose fines and suspend permits for repeat offenders.
Memon urged passengers to report fare overcharging through the government’s helpline and transport offices. “Public cooperation is crucial. If you experience overcharging, report it immediately, and we will take action,” he stated.
The government has instructed transport companies and bus operators to display official fare lists at terminals. Authorities will penalise any service that fails to comply.
Additionally, Memon directed officials to ensure enough vehicles are available to manage the Eid travel rush. The transport department will work with law enforcement agencies to prevent any disruptions in public transport.

March 23rd is celebrated across the nation as “Pakistan Day.” However, many people don’t know that it is more than just a “holiday” and has a very major historical context behind it. In fact, many are even divided on the day’s origin. So, let’s revisit the history and see what this day signifies.
Origin of Pakistan Day: The Lahore Resolution
To understand the significance and the origin of Pakistan Day (Pakistan Resolution Day to be more precise), we must first revisit the Lahore Resolution. The Lahore Resolution was initially drafted on March 23rd 1940 but was later publicised as the Pakistan Resolution.
The 27th annual session of the All India Muslim League was held in Lahore from 22nd March 1940 to 24th March 1940. In this session, the Lahore resolution was tabled and passed the following day, on March 24, 1940. It was in this resolution that the Muslim League officially demanded a separate independent homeland. Pakistan’s name was proposed this day and its idea was officially declared to the cabinet. Moreover, Muhammad Ali Jinnah showed to the whole world that he was the sole representative of the Muslims of the Subcontinent.
The “Lahore Resolution” was presented by the A.K. Fazal Ul Haque. The resolution stated that “No constitutional plan would be workable in this country or acceptable to Muslims unless it is designed on the following basic principles, namely, that geographically contiguous units are demarcated into regions which should be so constituted … that the areas in which the Muslims are numerically in the majority, as in the northwestern and eastern zones of India, should be grouped to constitute independent states in which the constituent units shall be autonomous andsovereign”.
Basically, Muslims finally agreed to the Two Nation Theory, that Hindus and Muslims are two separate people and that they cannot live in a single nation.
Earlier, the poet-philosopher, Allama Muhammad Iqbal, in his address to the Muslim League at Allahabad in 1930, had envisioned a separate homeland for the Muslims. Since then, the idea has touched millions of Muslims.

How Pakistan Day Became Republic Day
Many remember this day as “Republic Day” too but why? Well, once our country came into existence, this day was celebrated as Pakistan Day. This was because, even after Pakistan came into being, in the start, it wasn’t entirely independent. At least not until it had its own constitution. During this period, Pakistan had the status of a “dominion” — one of the self-governing territories of the British Commonwealth. Basically, we were still under our colonisers in a subtle manner.
To explain this further, if the Pakistani government had to make an important appointment or decision, it would require an approval from the Queen of the United Kingdom. Even in the most important decisions our cabinet would send the nominations for the Queen’s approval. It was then in 1956 on March 23, that Pakistan promulgated its first Constitution and formally became a “Republic” — severing the formal link with Britain.
As is the norm in the developed world, the day was celebrated as Republic Day to mark the promulgation of Pakistan’s first Constitution.
In honour of this auspicious day, the Republic Day Parade is held annually on March 23rd. It is a grand military and cultural event that is organized in Islamabad.
The parade features the Pakistan Armed Forces, including the Army, Navy and Air Force, showcasing their strength through march-pasts, aerial displays and advanced military equipment. It also includes performances highlighting Pakistan’s diverse culture, with floats representing various provinces. Foreign dignitaries and high-ranking officials often attend, and the President of Pakistan delivers a special address. This event symbolises national unity, patriotism, and the country’s defence capabilities.
After the parade, the President confers national awards and medals on the awardees at the Presidency. Wreaths are also laid at the mausoleums of Muhammad Iqbal and Muhammad Ali Jinnah founder of Pakistan.

Strategic Use of Pakistan Day
However, March 23 was celebrated as Pakistan Day until 1958. Later, on October 7, 1958, President Iskandar Mirza revoked the Constitution and appointed General Ayub Khan as the Chief Martial Law Administrator. So, now in the absence of a Constitution, it would be pretty incongruous to celebrate a day which marked the promulgation of the said Constitution.
Hence, to save their face the authorities changed the name and kept celebrating it on the same date. Basically, they twisted a very important chapter of our country’s history. They mixed it in such a way that now people don’t know the truth of this day’s origin at all.
People are Lost About Pakistan Day
A major question here arises as to what exactly prevented the elected governments from restoring the Republic Day? Once martial law was lifted, it could have been celebrated easily. Even in educational institutions the significance of the day is not taught in its complete form, or perhaps we find it too convenient to forget.
The Final Message For Pakistan Day
Even though, the people in charge don’t pay much attention to this day we as a nation must reflect upon its significance. We must understand that this day allowed us the gift of Pakistan. It allowed us the privilege of a separate homeland while many countries in the world face great turmoil, some of them even civil wars and disintegration. Our ancestors fought for this day for our sake and the least we can do is remember their efforts and hence remember this day.
This Pakistan Day, we must try to getvthe new generation aware about the struggles of the Muslims. We must reignite the spirit of the historic Lahore Resolution of 1940. We can do this by rejuvenating enthusiasm and spirit among our countrymen!

Mustafa Amir Murder Case: Armaghan Denies Confession
Armaghan Qureshi, the prime suspect in the Mustafa Amir murder case, has denied confessing to the crime, telling a court that police are attempting to force a statement from him.
Armaghan was produced before a magistrate by Karachi police on Saturday. In court, he refused to admit guilt and claimed authorities were pressuring him into making a confession.
“The police are trying to make me give a statement under duress,” he told the court. Earlier, co-accused Shiraz aka Shavez Bukhari also refused to confess during his own appearance before the magistrate.
The two suspects are under investigation in connection with the killing of Mustafa Amir, a case that has drawn public and media attention in recent weeks. Police have not yet commented on the allegations of coercion, and the case remains under judicial scrutiny as investigators continue to collect evidence.
The court has yet to determine whether any confessional statements provided earlier are admissible under the current claims.
Last week, police submitted a charge sheet in the court of the Judicial Magistrate (South) regarding a case against accused Armaghan for threatening a lawyer, representing plaintiff in cases filed against him.
According to the charge sheet submitted by the police, Armaghan has confessed to his crime. The report states that Advocate Saif Jatoi was representing the plaintiff in cases registered against Armaghan at Gizri and Darakhshan police stations.
Armaghan had abused the lawyer and his family on WhatsApp in April 2024. He also threatened them using the army to pick them from their home.
A case was registered against the accused at Boat Basin police station. Challan was submitted for the non-arrest of the accused. On February 17, police obtained permission from ATC Clifton to interrogate Armaghan. During the jail interrogation, the accused confessed to his crime.
Details of Mustafa Amir murder case
According to the details of the case, Armaghan ran a call center at a bungalow in Defence’s Khayaban-e-Momin area, where 30 to 40 boys and girls worked, along with 30 to 35 security guards stationed at the premises. The bungalow also illegally housed three lion cubs.
The interrogation report also shed light on Armaghan’s involvement in business and drug use. Prior to Mustafa’s murder, Armaghan, along with his friend Shiraz, planned to burn Mustafa’s car, and had previously intended to harm him.
The report revealed that in 2019, Armaghan was involved in a case regarding drug importation, but he had secured bail in that matter.
According to the investigation, Armaghan himself was a drug user. On New Year’s Eve, Armaghan hosted a party at the bungalow, where Shiraz was also present until 3 am. However, Mustafa did not attend the party.
The following day, Armaghan and Mustafa had a personal dispute, which escalated into a violent confrontation. On January 6, Armaghan invited Shiraz to the bungalow to consume drugs together, and Mustafa arrived at around 9 pm. During this encounter, Armaghan assaulted Mustafa with an iron rod.
Armaghan and Shiraz stripped Mustafa of his clothes, bound his hands and feet with a white sheet, and dragged him down the stairs.
Mustafa’s car was parked in the bungalow’s parking lot, and they placed his body in the trunk of the car, after which they took him to Hub.
The report further details that Armaghan instructed two employees to clean blood stains from the room. Armaghan also took Mustafa’s clothes, mobile phone, and internet device. When they could not find fuel in the car, Armaghan took a fuel can from the bungalow. The report explains that Armaghan discarded Mustafa’s mobile phone and other belongings on the way.
They arrived in Hub around 4:30 am, poured petrol on the car, and set it on fire. Armaghan and Shiraz then walked to a hotel for breakfast. A hotel employee noticed a weapon, and the two men fled the scene. After walking for several hours and hitching rides, they made their way back to Karachi.

Foreman was one of the most dominant heavyweight boxers in history. He won his first world title in 1973 after knocking out Joe Frazier. However, he became widely known for his 1974 fight against Muhammad Ali, famously called the “Rumble in the Jungle,” where he suffered his first professional loss.
Born in Texas in 1949, Foreman grew up in a challenging Houston neighbourhood. He dropped out of school at 15 but later joined the Job Corps, where he was introduced to boxing. His talent quickly became evident, and by 19, he won a gold medal in boxing at the 1968 Olympics in Mexico City. This achievement launched his professional career.
After a successful boxing run, Foreman retired in 1977 following a life-changing near-death experience. However, he shocked the world by making a comeback a decade later, at the age of 38. Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja announced on Friday that satellite-based internet provider Starlink has been granted temporary registration in Pakistan. The decision was made following the directives of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
In an official statement, she said that all security and regulatory bodies had given their approval, allowing Starlink to receive a temporary no-objection certificate (NOC). The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) will oversee compliance with licensing requirements and fee payments by the company.
Shaza Fatima emphasised that under Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s leadership, Pakistan is making significant progress in digital transformation. She further stated that introducing modern solutions like satellite internet will enhance connectivity, especially in remote and underserved areas.
According to well-placed sources, this temporary registration will help Elon Musk’s company secure a formal licence from PTA. Clearance from the Pakistan Spectrum Allocation and Review Board (PSARB) is a key requirement for satellite-based internet providers before they can operate in the country. The sources added that the regulatory body had already finalised important technical aspects, including frequency allocation, power settings, and earth gateway stations.
The sources also revealed that PTA is expected to issue Starlink’s official licence within four weeks. After obtaining the licence, the company may require up to one year to start its services in Pakistan.
To ensure high-speed internet, Starlink’s Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites will operate at an altitude of 250 to 500 kilometres. These satellites are designed to offer faster and more stable connectivity compared to traditional broadband networks.
The government has also hired an international consultant to help finalise regulations for satellite-based internet providers. This step aims to ensure smooth operations while maintaining compliance with Pakistan’s telecommunications laws.
This decision is considered a major milestone in Pakistan’s efforts to improve its digital infrastructure. Starlink’s entry is expected to provide better internet access, improve communication networks, and support digital transformation, particularly in regions with limited broadband services.
Experts believe this will create new opportunities for economic growth.
