Blue Whale Found Dead in Arabian Sea Near Pakistan-Iran Border

blue-whale-found-dead-in-arabian-sea-near-pakistan-iran-border

A 35-foot-long blue whale was found dead on Monday in the Arabian Sea, near Gwater Bay. This remote area lies between Pakistan and Iran.

The World Wide Fund for Nature–Pakistan (WWF–Pakistan) confirmed the discovery.

A local fisherman, Ahmad Baloch, spotted the whale floating near Kuntani, a coastal area in Balochistan.

Muhammad Moazzam Khan, WWF, Pakistan’s technical adviser, explained: “It is likely that the whale may have died a few days ago in the open sea between Pakistan and Iran and drifted towards Gwater Bay due to rough seas and strong currents.”

Cause of Death and Species Classification

The cause of death is unknown. However, Khan suggested the whale might have become entangled in gillnets. These nets are widely used in both coastal and offshore fishing in the region.

The blue whale, known scientifically as Balaenoptera musculus, is listed as endangered and is the largest animal ever known to exist.

Only three baleen whale species are reported in Pakistan’s waters: the blue whale, Bryde’s whale, and the Arabian humpback whale.

There are four subspecies of blue whales. Two are commonly found in the northern Indian Ocean: the pygmy blue whale (Balaenoptera musculus brevicauda) and the Indian Ocean blue whale (Balaenoptera musculus indica).

“Considering its small size, this dead blue whale sighted at Kuntani might be a pygmy blue whale,” Khan added.

Conservation and Legal Protection

Khan expressed concern about the whale’s death and emphasised the need for urgent action.

“Now all cetaceans, including whales and dolphins, are protected under the wildlife and fisheries legislation of Sindh and Balochistan. We also need to enact federal legislation for the protection of cetaceans, including whales, in Pakistan’s Exclusive Economic Zone.”

WWF–Pakistan noted that blue whales are distributed across the tropical and subtropical waters of the Indian Ocean. Moreover, there have been many sightings in Pakistan’s marine region.

The most recent sighting before this incident occurred near Gadani, Balochistan, on 8 April 2024.

Netherlands Beat Nepal After Historic Triple Super Over

netherlands-beat-nepal-after-historic-triple-super-over

The Netherlands defeated Nepal in a thrilling Twenty20 tri-series match in Glasgow on Monday after a historic triple Super Over, a first in T20 and limited-overs cricket history.

The Netherlands scored 152 for seven in their innings and looked likely to win.

However, Nepal’s Nandan Yadav hit a boundary on the final ball of the match. The team needed 16 from the last over, which tied the scores and forced a Super Over.

Nepal batted first in the Super Over and scored 19 runs.

The Netherlands managed to match that score, with Max O’Dowd hitting a six on the final delivery, leading to a second Super Over.

In the second Super Over, the Netherlands batted first and made 17 runs.

Nepal responded strongly once again, and Dipendra Singh Airee smashed a six on the final ball.  The scores were level again, marking the first time a third Super Over was needed.

The third Super Over didn’t carry the same intensity. Nepal failed to score any runs, and Michael Levitt hit a six on the first ball for the Netherlands to finally clinch the win.

This was the first-ever match in international T20 cricket to be decided after a historic triple Super Over, making it a historic encounter.

Next Fixtures in the Tri-Series

The Netherlands, which lost their opening match against Scotland earlier the same day, will now get a break on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Nepal will return to the field to play Scotland in their next game of the series.

IndiGo Flight Diverted to Nagpur After a Bomb Threat

indigo-flight-diverted-to-nagpur-after-bomb-threat

An IndiGo flight from Muscat to New Delhi made an emergency landing in Nagpur, India, after a bomb threat. The aircraft carried 157 passengers and six crew members. It had departed from Kochi at 9:31 am IST after a scheduled layover.

According to the Press Trust of India, Cochin International Airport Ltd. (CIAL) received the bomb threat through its official email. As a result, the authorities acted quickly and alerted the crew.

Nagpur Deputy Commissioner of Police Lohit Matani confirmed that they evacuated all passengers safely. Although officials investigated the threat immediately, they didn’t find anything suspicious on board.

Therefore, the Bomb Threat Assessment Committee (BTAC) held a meeting and labelled the threat as “specific.” Meanwhile, the flight remained grounded during the inspection. Eventually, authorities allowed further investigation to continue on the ground.

On the previous day, a similar threat impacted Lufthansa flight LH752. This flight was heading from Frankfurt to Hyderabad when Hyderabad airport received a threatening email at 6:01 pm IST on June 15, reported ANI. Consequently, the pilot turned the plane back to Germany. In line with protocol, a threat assessment team reviewed the case.

Furthermore, on June 13, Air India flight AI 379 flying from Phuket to New Delhi also received a bomb threat. The plane carried 156 passengers. After circling above the Andaman Sea, the pilot returned to Phuket for safety. Later, officials cleared the plane after conducting checks.

Just a day before that, on June 12, an Air India plane crashed in Ahmedabad right after takeoff. This tragic event claimed the lives of at least 271 people, including nearly 30 people on the ground. Understandably, the crash raised serious concerns about aviation safety.

Separately, in Indonesia, another bomb threat targeted Saudia Airlines flight SV 5276. The aircraft was flying from Jeddah to Jakarta with 442 Hajj pilgrims on board. At 7:30 am local time, someone sent an email to Indonesian authorities threatening to “blow up” the flight.

In response, the pilot diverted the plane around 10 am and landed at Kualanamu Airport in Medan, Sumatra. The flight included 207 men and 235 women. InJourney Airports confirmed that the pilot acted after identifying a serious safety threat.

Afterwards, airport staff evacuated all passengers, and bomb disposal experts checked the aircraft. At the time of reporting, the plane was still in Medan. Both Flightradar24 data and a transport ministry official confirmed this status.

Anoushey Ashraf Raises Alarm on Social Media’s Mental Health Toll on Girls

Anoushey Ashraf recently brought attention to a significant issue: The declining mental health of teenage girls in our social media-driven world. Her insights are particularly relevant for parents, educators, and those involved in business and healthcare, as this is a pressing concern that needs to be addressed.

Research from sociologist Nicholas Christakis and political scientist James Fowler highlights the concept of emotional contagion, which is crucial in understanding how mental health issues can spread.

Girls, who tend to be more emotionally expressive and closely connected to their peers, are especially vulnerable. They don’t just pick up on the feelings of their close friends; they can also be influenced by the emotions of their friends’ friends.

anoushey-ashraf-on-social-media
Anoushey Ashraf of Social Media

This intense emotional connection can become quite perilous in today’s digital landscape. Social media platforms like Instagram and TikTok enable these emotional triggers to circulate rapidly.

Sadly, many teenagers engage with these platforms during their formative years, often without realising they’re exposing themselves to harmful content that’s cleverly masked as “relatable” or “inspirational.”

The Role of Social Media in Spreading Sociogenic Illnesses

History tells us that sociogenic illnesses, those conditions sparked by social influences rather than biological factors, have been around for quite some time. However, in our current digital age, image-driven social media platforms serve as rapid conduits for spreading these issues.

Adolescents, particularly girls, often find themselves bombarded with content that heightens feelings of anxiety, depression, and even more severe conditions like Tourette’s syndrome and dissociative identity disorder (DID).

anoushey-ashraf-on-social-media
Anoushey Ashraf on Social Media

Research has shown that some teenagers start to imitate behaviours they see online. For instance, influencers who genuinely struggle with these disorders often gain a following and recognition. This kind of visibility can lead others to identify with similar symptoms, even if they haven’t experienced them before.

This phenomenon, known as prestige bias, is further fueled by algorithm-driven content, resulting in what’s called “audience capture.” In simple terms, users may become more extreme versions of what they think their audience wants to see.

anoushey-ashraf-on-social-media

Recent reports from Germany highlight instances of teens mimicking Tourette-like tics after watching influencers. In English-speaking countries, girls have started to develop new, media-influenced forms of tic disorders.

A particular British influencer’s catchphrase, “beans, unexpectedly turned into a widespread tic among young girls around the world. These trends point to what researchers are calling a mass social media-induced illness.

From Awareness to Action: Why This Matters to Business Leaders

This issue goes beyond just being a social concern; it’s a crucial business necessity. Mental health has a direct impact on performance, productivity, and engagement in schools, workplaces, and homes.

For companies looking to connect with Gen Z or those employing younger talent, understanding these dynamics is essential.

anoushey-ashraf-on-social-media
Anoushey Ashraf on Social Media

If we don’t address it, the mental health crisis fueled by social media could turn into a long-term economic challenge. Industries such as technology, media, healthcare, and education have both a role and a responsibility in this regard.

Anoushey Ashraf has raised her voice in this regard, becoming part of the growing movement that warns against the dangers of unchecked digital exposure. She’s candid about the irony of using Instagram to critique image-centric platforms, but her message is crucial. When misused, these tools can become sources of psychological harm.

Shifting from concern to accountability demands intentional action. Business leaders need to champion ethical innovation. Mental health professionals should guide content creators. And most importantly, we must protect young girls from the subtle yet significant dangers lurking behind every scroll and swipe.

Sunita Marshall Says Her Parents Feared Her Kids Would Only Be Muslims

Sunita Marshall, a well-known Pakistani actress and model, recently caught the spotlight with her candid appearance on Freiha Altaf’s podcast. She opened up about her marriage to fellow actor Hassan Ahmed, tackling a subject that often raises eyebrows—interfaith marriage.

When asked if her in-laws ever pressured her to convert to Islam, Sunita answered with refreshing honesty. She shared that during their five years of dating, Hassan’s family never once asked her to change her faith. Their acceptance was a pleasant surprise, especially considering the societal norms in Pakistan.

Watch Here:

View this post on Instagram

A post shared by FWhy Podcast (@fwhypodcast)

Sunita recounted, “My family would say the usual things like ‘tumhare bachay Musalman honge’, and I’d explain that I’ve known Hassan’s family for years. We live in Pakistan, and I love it here. His family has never made religion a point of contention.”

To help ease her family’s worries, she brought in a respected elder, her uncle. After meeting Hassan’s family, he was genuinely impressed and played a crucial role in reassuring her parents.

“If they’re not forcing me to convert, then what else do we want?” she posed, making a strong point.

Setting Boundaries: Personal Values Over External Pressure

Sunita also delved into the issue of societal expectations, especially when it comes to how women dress. In a world where looks can lead to unsolicited opinions, she’s found a way to navigate this tricky terrain.

She shared, “Hassan has never held me back. I’ve set my boundaries. I’m aware of what society tends to judge, and I do my best to steer clear of that line not for anyone else, but for my own peace of mind.”

Even with the freedom her husband provides, Sunita is keenly aware of the conservative backdrop she’s in. Her choices aren’t about being restricted; they come from a place of self-awareness and cultural understanding.

This thoughtful approach has allowed her to flourish in both her marriage and her career.

Modern Relationships: Respect, Understanding, and Trust

Sunita Marshall’s journey goes beyond just the idea of marriage. It’s a vivid illustration of contemporary relationships grounded in mutual respect and open dialogue. For those with a business mindset, there’s a valuable lesson here:  Cultural differences can thrive when respect is at the core.

Her way of navigating family dynamics, societal views, and her professional persona highlights her emotional intelligence and strategic insight. By being open, involving trusted family members, and honouring the values of both sides, she created a nurturing environment for her relationship to grow.

Sunita Marshall didn’t pressure anyone into accepting her; instead, she approached them with empathy and earned their acceptance. That’s a powerful message, one that resonates deeply in both personal and professional realms.

Can the Global Economy Afford an Iran-Israel War?

can-the-global-economy-afford-an-iran-israel-war

On Friday, Israel launched an unprecedented aerial assault on Iran amid escalating tensions, killing top-ranking military officials and nuclear scientists. Despite enduring heavy losses, Iran retaliated with missile strikes on Tel-Aviv, sparking much chaos.

Over the next several days, both countries would trade aerial assaults, leading to significant casualties on both sides. International pressure to reduce hostilities has increased to prevent a full-blown war.

A full-fledged Iran-Israel war would do neither side any favours, with the possibility of unprecedented destruction. What’s even worse is that it could have wider implications. The fragile global economy would take a major hit from a sustained Iran-Israel war.

Iran-israel-war
The Iran Israel war continues.

The Iran-Israel War Could Create a Global Energy and Fuel Crisis

Despite no signs of production losses, oil prices rose due to the regional and global uncertainty surrounding the brewing conflict between Iran and Israel.

These are just the immediate aftershocks of the conflict; a long-lasting, full-blown war could have serious ramifications for global fuel supplies and energy reserves. The world may see a steep and sustained rise in energy prices.

Iran is the third-largest producer in the Organisation of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC). Prolonged conflict with Israel could disrupt oil production, contributing to rising costs.

More importantly, Iran borders the Strait of Hormuz, a narrow passage that connects the Persian Gulf and the Indian Ocean. This waterway is a chokepoint of nearly 20% of global liquified-natural-gas (LNG) supply.

Although Iran has refrained from blocking the passageway in the past, it could potentially impede shipping in the face of an escalating conflict with Israel. This move will drive up oil prices significantly worldwide.

Closing the Strait of Hormuz could surge oil prices to 120-130 dollars per barrel. Simply put, when oil costs rise, everything becomes more expensive. Transportation costs will increase, adding to the costs of consumer goods and services.

The World is Still Reeling from COVID-19 and the Ukraine War

The fragile global economy was badly exposed in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, which rattled the entire planet. In addition, the Russia-Ukraine war has added to the economic misery.

Israel and Iran find themselves in a productive geopolitical region. Their war has the potential to become a massive regional conflict. The worst-case scenario would see significant rises in oil prices, energy production, transportation costs, and consumer goods.

The global economy has already endured heavy losses in recent years. A massive regional conflict would impede its recovery and add to the economic damages. In simple word: No, the world is not ready for an Iran-Israel War.

How Much Will Sydney Sixers Pay Babar Azam for BBL 15?

how-much-will-sydney-sixers-pay-babar-azam-for-bbl-15

For the first time in his decorated career, the former Pakistan captain Babar Azam will feature in Australia’s Big Bash League (BBL), and he’s doing it in style — with a pre-signing deal from Sydney Sixers that reportedly exceeds PKR 10 crore.

Platinum Class Entry

As per BBL rules, each franchise is allowed to pre-sign one overseas player before the official draft. The Sixers didn’t wait. They locked in Babar early, placing him in the top-tier Platinum category — and then sweetened the deal.

Sources say his salary will surpass PKR 10 crore, making him one of the highest-paid players in BBL history. The base price for Platinum is around PKR 7.75 crore, but when you’re Babar Azam, numbers tend to bend in your favour.

What Babar Azam Brings to the Table?

Babar’s stats speak louder than any hype. With over 10,000 international runs across formats, he’s been the backbone of Pakistan’s batting for more than a decade. From crisp cover drives to clinical match-winning knocks, he’s mastered the art of consistency in modern cricket.

Let’s not forget — he’s the fastest to 5,000 ODI runs, did it in just 97 innings. He’s also a two-time ICC ODI Cricketer of the Year (2021, 2022) and was named ICC Men’s Cricketer of the Year in 2022.

Calm, Classy, and Now a Sixer

Beyond the stats, Babar Azam is known for his calm demeanour and textbook technique. He captained Pakistan from 2019 to 2024, leading them to the T20 World Cup semi-final in 2021 and the final in 2022.

In the T20 arena, his numbers are massive — 11,000+ runs, and experience across major leagues like the PSL, CPL, and England’s domestic T20 competitions.

Now, with Sydney Sixers, he’ll bring not only runs but leadership, experience, and a bit of flair that Aussie fans are bound to love.

Available for the Full Ride

Here’s the kicker — Babar will be available for the entire BBL 15 season, including the finals. That’s rare for a top-tier overseas player and a huge plus for the Sixers as they chase another title.

The BBL kicks off on December 14, and you can bet all eyes will be on the Sixers when Babar Azam steps out to bat in his signature elegance.

Why did Russia Launch One of Its Largest Attacks on Kyiv?

why-did-russia-launch-one-of-its-largest-attacks-on-kyiv

Early Tuesday, according to the Ukrainian interior ministry, waves of missiles and drones from Russia attacked Kyiv, killing 14 and wounding 44.

Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko stated Russia hit 27 locations across the capital, destroying important infrastructure, schools, and residences. “Today, the enemy spared neither drones nor missiles,” he said, labelling it among the most significant attacks since February 2022.

Drones overhead and missile sounds were heard by Reuters correspondents in Kyiv. The air raid warning persisted for more than seven hours. Attacks damaged a region near Kyiv, injuring one person, and the southern district of Odesa, where 13 were hurt, in other parts of Ukraine.

According to Klymenko, a ballistic missile damaged a nine-story structure in the Solomianskyi neighbourhood of Kyiv. Survivors are being searched for in the wreckage by rescue teams.

According to Mayor Vitali Klitschko, while medical personnel were tending to others, an American 62 years old passed away in a neighbouring building. Klymenko corroborated that the man perished from shrapnel wounds.

Direct peace negotiations have lately started again between Ukraine and Russia. Although they have agreed to trade prisoners and repatriate soldiers’ bodies, there has been little additional advancement.

On Telegram, Andriy Yermak, chief of staff for Ukrainian President Zelensky, stated, “More hits by Russian drones on residential buildings in Kyiv. Russia persists in its war on civilians.”

Meanwhile, Russia reported shooting down 147 Ukrainian drones overnight, including some close to Moscow. This statement was published on Tuesday by the Russian Defence Ministry.

What is Iran’s Unbreakable Quds Force?

what-is-irans-unbreakable-quds-force

When most of the world hears “Quds Force,” it’s usually filtered through headlines laced with fear, suspicion, or outright hostility. To the West, it’s Iran’s shadowy elite. To its allies, it’s a lifeline. But beneath the geopolitics and propaganda, the Quds Force is more than just a military unit.

So, what is the Quds Force? And why is it called “unbreakable secret military empire of Iran”?

The Backbone of Iran’s Foreign Defence Policy

The Quds Force is the special operations arm of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). Unlike conventional military units, it operates beyond Iran’s borders, often in hostile environments, offering military, intelligence and strategic support to allies across the Middle East.

Founded in the wake of the 1979 Islamic Revolution and solidified during the Iran-Iraq War, the Quds Force was shaped by fire and idealism.

To its supporters, the Quds Force isn’t some rogue band of warmongers. It’s the force that stood against ISIS when much of the world turned a blind eye. It’s the reason Daesh didn’t reach Baghdad or Damascus.

While Western airstrikes grabbed headlines, Quds boots were on the ground, fighting shoulder to shoulder with local fighters, often taking the heaviest losses.

Why “Quds?” A Name That Carries a Cause

The very name “Quds” (Arabic for Jerusalem) is not accidental. It reflects a pan-Islamic vision that transcends borders and sects — a commitment to the liberation of occupied lands and oppressed peoples, particularly in Palestine.

Whether you agree with Iran’s foreign policy or not, you cannot deny that the Quds Force is driven by something more powerful than politics: an unrelenting belief in justice.

In a world where international law appears to be selectively applied and human suffering is often overlooked unless it serves Western interests, the Quds Force presents an alternative narrative. They’re not waiting for the United Nations to act. They’re not watching genocide from the sidelines.

The Martyrdom of Qassem Soleimani: A Turning Point

The man who shaped and embodied the soul of the Quds Force was General Qassem Soleimani. To many in the West, he was demonised. To millions across the Middle East, he was a man who spent decades building networks of resistance against occupation and extremism.

When the U.S. assassinated Soleimani in 2020, it wasn’t just the killing of a military commander; it was an attempt to decapitate a symbol. But what Washington failed to understand is that Soleimani’s martyrdom only solidified the Quds Force’s mythology.

the-martyrdom-of-qassem-soleimani_-a-turning-point
Qassem Soleimani

The West’s Double Standards and the Right to Resist

It’s ironic how Western nations celebrate their elite forces. From Navy SEALs to the SAS — as noble defenders of freedom. But when a Middle Eastern force rises to protect its people, its neighbours and its sovereignty, they are instantly labelled a terrorist organisation.

Iran’s enemies, especially the United States and Israel, have tried sanctions, assassinations, cyber warfare, and diplomatic isolation to dismantle the Quds Force. But here’s the thing: you can’t break a force built on belief.

What makes the Quds Force “unbreakable” is not just their military capability. It’s their ideological backbone. In a region ravaged by war, occupation and betrayal, they represent something few forces can claim: consistency.

Beyond the Narrative

The Quds Force isn’t perfect; no force is. However, reducing them to a caricature of evil is both dishonest and dangerous. If we are to understand the true dynamics of the Middle East, we must step out of the Western echo chamber and listen to the stories told by those who live and die in these conflicts.

Amid the ongoing war on Iran, let’s not forget that sometimes forces like “Quds” are the only means of self-defence for the people constantly attacked.

India Was Once a Strong Palestinian Ally; then What Changed?

india-was-once-a-strong-palestinian-ally-then-what-changed

India once stood firmly with Palestine. In 1947, it voted against the UN plan to partition Palestine. It recognised the Palestine Liberation Organisation (PLO) in 1974 and acknowledged the State of Palestine in 1988,  before many other nations did.

For decades, India’s foreign policy was rooted in anti-colonial ideals and pan-Third World solidarity.

But that has changed.

Today, India is closer to Israel than ever before. During the recent Gaza conflict, India voted against a UN resolution calling for a humanitarian truce. Prime Minister Narendra Modi swiftly condemned the 7 October attacks by Hamas and expressed support for Israel, without issuing a counterbalancing statement on the Palestinian civilian toll.

So, What’s Driving this Shift?

The reasons are complex, but at the heart of it lies the rise of Hindu nationalism. The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) under Modi has long admired Israel’s hardline stance on terrorism and its identity as a Jewish nation-state.

This resonates with the BJP’s vision of a Hindu-first India. Both Hindutva and Zionism draw on majoritarian ideologies grounded in history, religion, and the notion of reclaiming “lost” homelands.

India’s alliance with Israel

Another reason is that India views Israel as a vital military partner, purchasing over $2 billion worth of Israeli weapons annually. Since the establishment of full diplomatic relations in 1992, collaboration has expanded in defence, surveillance, and agriculture. U

Under Modi, this relationship has deepened further into what many now call a strategic alliance.

Domestic Politics also play a Significant Role

Pro-Israel sentiment serves to reinforce the BJP’s anti-Muslim rhetoric. Labelling Hamas as “Islamic terrorists” bolsters Islamophobic narratives within India. While pro-Palestine protests have been banned, pro-Israel rallies have gone ahead with government backing.

Meanwhile, right-wing social media accounts continue to circulate anti-Palestinian misinformation online.

Aligning with Israel also strengthens India’s ties with the United States and distances it from China. Amid strained relations with Canada and ongoing concerns about Western criticism over human rights, India is doubling down on its “anti-terrorism” narrative to align more closely with Western powers.

But Not Everyone in India Supports this Realignment

Despite the government’s sentiment, many citizens privately sympathise with the Palestinian cause. Scholars like Ashok Swain and Pamela Philipose argue that this shift is not just about foreign alliances, it reflects a broader attempt to rewrite India’s anti-colonial and secular foundations.

Ultimately, India’s embrace of Israel signifies a deeper transformation. It is not merely geopolitical, it is ideological. The shift reveals much about India’s evolving identity, its priorities on the world stage, and the domestic forces driving this change.

Did the Saudi Sleeping Prince, Al Waleed, Wake Up After 20 Years?

A recent viral video claimed that Saudi Arabia’s “Sleeping Prince,” Al Waleed, had awoken from a 20-year coma. The internet lit up with tearful tributes and messages of celebration. But the story, while it may be touching, is simply not true.

Prince Al-Waleed bin Khaled bin Talal has been in a coma since 2005, following a traumatic brain injury sustained in a car accident while he was a student at a military college. Since then, he has remained unconscious, kept alive by machines and his family’s unwavering hope.

So, Where Did the Video Come From?

The video that sparked the rumour shows a man waking up in a hospital bed, greeted with cheers and embraces. The accompanying text falsely claims the man is Prince Al-Waleed, regaining consciousness at last. That is not the case.

The footage actually features billionaire rally driver Yazeed Mohamed Al-Rajhi, recovering from a crash during the Baja Jordan rally. In April, his team—Yazeed Racing—released an official statement confirming that both Al-Rajhi and his co-driver had been hospitalised but were stable and conscious. Al-Rajhi sustained two spinal fractures; his co-driver, four.

After Al-Rajhi was discharged, a video of his recovery began circulating. Someone paired it with a photo of Prince Al-Waleed and fabricated the story, triggering a viral storm of misinformation.

What’s the Real Status of the Prince?

Prince Al-Waleed remains in a coma, despite turning 36 this past April. His family continues to care for him, holding out hope for a miracle. His father, Prince Khaled, has repeatedly refused doctors’ recommendations to withdraw life support, steadfast in his belief that his son can recover.

Prince Al-Waleed is a great-grandson of Saudi Arabia’s founding monarch, King Abdulaziz. Over the years, rare videos have shown minimal movements, but according to medical professionals, he has not regained consciousness.

The Bottom Line

The “Sleeping Prince” has not woken up. The viral video is a case of mistaken identity—and deliberate misinformation. While hope for his recovery endures, the facts remain unchanged: he is still in a coma, and his future is uncertain.

Always verify your sources. In the age of viral content, not everything is as it seems.

Did Israel’s Missiles Turn on its Own Cities?

did-israeli-missiles-turn-on-their-own-cities

Iranian and Israeli forces are striking each other as the conflict continues into the fifth day. IRNA shared unconfirmed reports which suggest the Iron Dome failed at key moments. It claimed the system was possibly hacked, and some Israeli missiles may have changed course and hit Israeli targets. The claim has not been verified.

Some videos also showed Iranian missiles getting through Israeli air defence easily and striking without much resistance. These were shared widely by eyewitnesses on social media.

Earlier on Monday, Israel’s National Cyber Directorate confirmed a cyberattack. Civilians got fake emergency alerts, telling them not to use public bomb shelters. This added more fear and confusion in cities already on edge.

These events come after Israeli airstrikes on June 13 hit residential parts of Tehran and other cities in Iran. The strikes killed civilians and also senior Iranian military officers. In response, Iran’s leaders promised revenge and warned of more attacks.

U.S. President Donald Trump made a statement urging Iranian citizens to leave Tehran. He said this was because Iran had refused a deal to limit nuclear weapons. His warning came just before more attacks started.

The White House said Trump would leave the G7 summit in Canada one day early due to the conflict in the Middle East.

There are still no official confirmations of the Iron Dome being hacked, and Israeli officials have not commented on the footage. But Iranian media and social networks continue to circulate the claims, raising questions about the strength of Israel’s defences in cyber warfare.

Can Trump’s Warning Prevent a Nuclear Crisis?

can-trumps-warning-prevent-a-nuclear-crisis

Iran and Israel continued their attacks for the fifth day on Tuesday. Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump urged Iranians to evacuate Tehran and blamed Iran for rejecting a nuclear weapons deal.

At the same time, world leaders at the G7 summit in Canada called for peace. They stressed that Iran must never develop nuclear weapons. Moreover, they defended Israel’s right to protect itself.

French President Emmanuel Macron confirmed Trump’s proposal for a truce. “There is an offer being made, especially to get a ceasefire and to start more general dialogue. And I believe this is a wonderful thing,” Macron said.

Soon after, Trump posted a warning on Truth Social. “Iran ought to have agreed to the ‘deal’ I told them to sign. What a pity and a loss of human life. Simply said, Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon. I said it again and over. Everyone should leave Tehran right now!”

In addition, Axios reported that the U.S. might set up a meeting between envoy Steve Witkoff and Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi. However, Reuters couldn’t confirm the story. Meanwhile, Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth said that Trump still wants a nuclear deal.

Early Tuesday, Iranian media reported explosions in eastern Tehran and Natanz. These areas include important nuclear sites. Asriran confirmed that air defences quickly responded in both places.

In Tel Aviv, sirens rang out, although no missiles struck the city. Still, fear spread rapidly among residents. Iran reported 224 civilian deaths; meanwhile, Israel said 24 people died and 3,000 were evacuated.

According to Reuters, Iran asked Oman, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia to urge Trump to pressure Netanyahu into a ceasefire. In return, Iran promised flexibility in nuclear talks. Abbas Araghchi posted, “Next steps are significant if President Trump is sincere about diplomacy and wants to halt this war.”

Furthermore, he warned, “Israel has to stop its violence, and without a complete stoppage of military aggression against us, our answers will persist.” Iran claims it only seeks peaceful nuclear energy under the NPT agreement.

In contrast, Israel never signed the NPT and won’t confirm or deny having nuclear weapons. Still, many believe it does.

Meanwhile, the Chinese embassy in Israel told its citizens to leave through land borders. Israeli airspace remains closed due to the war. As a result, both countries are now in their most intense aerial conflict ever.

On Monday, Israeli forces attacked uranium enrichment sites. According to IAEA head Rafael Grossi, Natanz suffered serious damage, likely destroying 15,000 centrifuges. However, he said the Fordow plant remained mostly intact.

Previously scheduled U.S.-Iran talks for June 15 in Oman were also cancelled. Tehran explained it cannot negotiate while under attack.

Now, Israel claims full control over Iranian airspace. It also plans to expand its military operations further. Trump insists the war can end quickly if Iran accepts strict nuclear rules.

Is the UAE Smuggling Sudan’s Gold and Giving it a Legal Makeover?

is-the-uae-giving-sudans-stolen-gold-a-legal-makeover

If you’ve ever strolled through Dubai’s Gold Souk, you’ve seen the endless rows of dazzling jewellery, bricks of gold and wealth on full display. But what if I tell you that almost 2/3 of that gold isn’t even Dubai’s own gold?

It’s Sudan’s gold. Sudan is almost certainly the largest producer of artisanal gold in Africa. But when a miner in Sudan or an artisan in the DR Congo extracts gold to feed their family, it gets whisked across borders (through Burkina Faso, Mali, or Rwanda) and ends up in Dubai. Then, the traders and refiners in the UAE treat this gold as if it had always been above board.

Boom. What was once “dirty” is now “Dubai gold.”

This isn’t just a clever loophole; it’s a system, and it’s being exploited on an industrial scale. It has also started a civil war in Sudan.

Sudan’s Gold: A Legal Makeover or a Golden Cover-Up?

To be fair, the UAE has made some noise about cleaning up its act after stealing Sudan’s gold for so long. They’ve rolled out new rules requiring refiners to do due diligence, file reports, and follow Know Your Customer (KYC) procedures. It all sounds great on paper. However, let’s be real: enforcement is another story.

We’re still seeing massive quantities of untraced Sudanese gold ending up in UAE markets.

So, if the new laws are in place, why isn’t anything changing?

That’s because what’s happening isn’t accidental. The system benefits the middlemen, the refiners, the global buyers and ultimately, the Emirati economy. Crack down too hard, and you kill the golden goose. Or you could become a victim of Sudan’s ongoing genocide.

Facts from Investigations & Reports

Several eye-opening studies corroborate the video’s claims:

  • 435 tonnes of Sudan gold (valued at $30 billion) were smuggled in 2022, mostly entering the UAE; Dubai alone handled an estimated 93%.
  • Over the past decade, about 2,500 tonnes worth $115 billion passed informally into the UAE, fueling concerns about laundering and illicit earnings.
  • The New York Times, a confidential report submitted to the United Nations Security Council in November concluded that $860 million worth of gold had been extracted during 2024 from RSF-controlled mines in the Darfur, Sudan alone.

The Human Cost in Sudan

While Dubai polishes gold bars for the global elite, who’s paying the real price?

Small-scale miners in Sudan and Congo (many of whom are just kids) work in life-threatening conditions for crumbs, with no health protections, no labour rights and no future. Their lands are pillaged, and their governments rob them of billions of dollars.

If they stand up? They will get burned alive and their women will be raped by the very military that is supposed to protect them.

And for what? So, a country that doesn’t even have a single gold mine of its own can plaster itself as the biggest gold supplier in the world?

Melting another country’s gold and moulding it doesn’t make it your own.

Sudan’s Gold War is a Global Crisis

Dubai’s system is opaque by design. It lets gold flow in from anywhere, be it conflict zones, smuggling rings or routes linked to sanctioned countries. Once it’s been “refined” in the UAE, it’s ready for global export.

sudans-stolen-gold
Sudan’s stolen gold

Let’s call it what it is: a legal makeover for dirty gold. Shiny on the surface, rotten at the core. You can’t be standing up for one genocide and leave the other one out just because it is “between their people.” It is a proxy, and it is being exploited due to blood gold.

So, the next time you see a glittering necklace in a Dubai window, tell yourself: its Sudan’s gold, the nation that is too poor to afford it themselves.
