A 30-Second Mystery: What Could Have Happened to the Air India Flight?

a-30-second-mystery-what-could-have-happened-to-the-air-india-flight

More than 260 people died on Thursday in a devastating Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad. The Boeing 787 Dreamliner plunged just seconds after takeoff, and only one passenger survived. Dozens on the ground also lost their lives as the plane crashed into a doctor’s hostel.

Footage of the crash shows the plane struggling to lift. Flames erupted quickly, and experts began speculating almost immediately about what had happened. One of them, Ahmed Busnaina, an aeroplane engineer and professor, believes engine failure may be the main reason.

Flap Malfunction or Thrust Issue?

According to Busnaina, the video raises questions about the plane’s flaps. Flaps extend from the wing during takeoff to create more lift at lower speeds. If the crew forgot to deploy them or if a mechanical fault blocked them, the plane would have needed significantly more thrust to get airborne.

However, Busnaina said flap issues alone wouldn’t explain the full crash. He suspects a loss of thrust as the more critical issue. It could’ve been an engine stall, a compressor failure, or something mechanical like a broken turbine blade,” he explained. “Bird strikes, overheating, or an oil leak — all are possibilities.”

Mayday Signals a Serious Problem

The pilot did send out a Mayday call right before the crash. That’s a clear sign that something went wrong. “Most likely, the engine wasn’t giving enough thrust,” said Busnaina. “That’s when you need the engine most — at takeoff.”

He added that while a plane can keep flying at high altitude with one engine, it can’t take off unless both engines work properly. “There’s no room for error during takeoff,” he said.

Could it be Human Error?

It’s possible, Busnaina noted, that the flaps weren’t deployed due to pilot error. But there’s also a chance of a fly-by-wire malfunction. Modern planes use electric motors instead of hydraulic systems. A software glitch could have prevented flap deployment.

Still, he emphasised that the flight crew usually knows if something is wrong before takeoff. The fact that they proceeded means that something may have failed after they were already in motion.

Final Answers Await Investigation

Authorities will now turn to the black box to determine what truly happened. Until then, experts like Busnaina can only make educated guesses. But engine failure remains the top theory.

“This tragedy shows how thin the margin of safety can be,” he said. “Every part of that aircraft must work — or it won’t fly.”

Iran Launches Drone Strike After Israeli Airstrikes

iran-launches-drone-strike-after-israeli-airstrikes

Friday rise in tensions as Iran launched over 100 drones toward Israel, retaliating against Israeli airstrikes that killed key Iranian military leaders and nuclear scientists. Israel confirmed the attack and said its defence systems intercepted most drones.

As a consequence, authorities shut down Ben Gurion Airport and activated underground hospital units.

Earlier, 200 Israeli jets carried out a large-scale air campaign across Iran as they confirmed that Israel would soon attack Iran. They targeted over 100 locations, including Tehran, Natanz, Isfahan, and Arak. Reports said the strikes hit nuclear research centres and various military and civilian sites.

The airstrikes killed top Iranian figures like the Military Chief Major General Mohammad Bagheri, IRGC Commander Hossein Salami, and Major General Gholamali Rashid. Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei quickly appointed General Ahmad Vahidi as the new IRGC chief. He also named Rear Admiral Habibollah Sayyari as the interim Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces.

The attack also killed nuclear scientists Dr. Mohammad Mahdi Tehranchi and Dr. Fereydoon Abbasi. Their deaths sparked fears of a regional nuclear crisis. Still, the IAEA confirmed radiation levels at Iranian nuclear sites remained normal.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi called Israel’s attack a blatant violation of the UN Charter. “Iran’s armed forces will not hesitate to show full strength,” he warned. The IRGC echoed that message, vowing to deliver a clear and forceful response.

The IRGC stated, “Despite the Zionist regime’s heinous crime, we are confident in the dignity and resistance of the Iranian people.” Iranian leaders declared their full readiness to escalate further if needed. Their statement signalled that more retaliation could come.

U.S. President Donald Trump told Fox News he knew of Israel’s plan in advance. While denying direct U.S. involvement. He said, “We will not allow Iran to acquire nuclear weapons.” He added that the U.S. hopes Iran returns to the negotiating table.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres condemned Israel’s attack and expressed serious concern over the strikes on nuclear sites. “The region is already too sensitive for another war,” he said. He urged both nations to avoid further military escalation.

Israeli officials said they expect more Iranian retaliation and remain on high alert. They warned that any Iranian strike would trigger the launch of hundreds of ballistic missiles. The Israeli military stated, “The upcoming hours will be challenging.”

Uh-oh! Online Shopping Just Got More Expensive with New Taxes

uh-oh-online-shopping-just-got-more-expensive-with-new-taxes

Earlier this week, the federal government announced the budget for the upcoming fiscal year of 2025/26. The salaried class and government employees were among notable beneficiaries, while many industries could incur losses due to an increase in solar panel taxes and fuel costs.

However, several e-commerce changes were also proposed to enhance Pakistan’s digital economy. These adjustments have implications for both online sellers and consumers. In fact, foreign vendors, like Temu, Amazon and others, were also not spared.

International and Local Online Shopping Platforms in Line of Fire

The finance minister, Muhammad Aurangzeb, proposed a tiered sales tax system on online purchases via local platforms, e.g. Daraz.pk and OLX. A 1% tax will be imposed on purchases below Rs 10,000. For payments between Rs 10,000 and Rs 25,000, a 2% tax will be imposed.

Surprisingly, purchases above Rs25,000 will be taxed at a reduced rate of 0.25%. Furthermore, purchases made from foreign vendors, e.g. Temu and Amazon, will be subject to a 5% tax.

purchase-made-to-foreignn-vendors-eg-temu-and-amazon-will-be-subject-to-a-50%-tax
Purchases made from foreign vendors, e.g. Temu and Amazon, will be subject to a 5% tax.

For those digital ads targeting Pakistani consumers, foreign vendors will have to pay a 5% advertising tax.

Banks will be required to deduct the taxes imposed on purchases via local and international online shopping platforms. In addition, GST registration has been mandated for all vendors. Unregistered vendors selling goods and services online will be subject to heavy fines (between Rs500,000 and Rs1 million.

What does this mean for Online Shoppers and Sellers?

Consumers should expect notable hikes in their purchases on online platforms as the overall cost of digital services and goods increases. The same platforms are likely to include a detailed breakdown of the sales tax in the checkout receipts.

This would lessen the purchasing power of many, but it causes more problems for the immobile, aged, and infirm who find it difficult to shop physically. Furthermore, discounts and special offers that you see all over right now are likely to decline as these vendors struggle to maintain steady profits.

As for the new compliance demands levied on vendors, home-based sellers and small-scale businesses which rely on online purchases are likely to bear the brunt. Stricter regulations on these vendors could impede the growth of such small set-ups, especially those with unsteady earnings.

This was the first time the government laid a strong emphasis on the digital market, imposing new taxes. While this would certainly enhance tax revenue, rising costs and the collapse of small home-based set ups presents unique challenges that the government failed to tackle.

Israel Strikes Iran’s Nuclear Facility in Natanz

israel-strikes-irans-nuclear-facility-in-natanz

As warned before by US and European officials that Israel is ready to attack Iran soon, it launched airstrikes on Iran’s nuclear and military sites on Friday 13th June, 2025.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed the strikes and said they aimed to cripple Iran’s nuclear programme. He declared, “The operation will continue for as many days as it takes.”

He also said, “Israel launched Operation Rising Lion… to eliminate the threat to Israel’s survival.” Meanwhile, Iranian media reported that Israeli missiles hit residential areas in Tehran. The attacks killed women and children, and thick smoke covered the city.

Videos showed burning buildings in several neighbourhoods. Explosions rocked Natanz city, and flames rose from a site used by Iran’s Revolutionary Guards. IRNA reported that Major General Hossein Salami, the IRGC chief, died in the strike.

Iran’s oil ministry confirmed that refineries and fuel depots remained safe. The ministry said, “No damage was caused… fuel supply is ongoing.” Despite this, Iraq closed its airspace, and Tehran’s Imam Khomeini Airport suspended all flights.

Israel also shut down its skies and declared a state of emergency. Defence Minister Israel Katz warned, “A missile and drone attack against the State of Israel and its civilian population is expected.” A senior Israeli officer said Iran might strike “any minute.”

Iran’s state TV reported more child deaths in the capital. Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said Israel had “unleashed its wicked and bloody hand” and would face “a bitter fate. Israeli forces struck dozens of nuclear and military targets, including Natanz.”

At the same time, US President Donald Trump called a National Security Council meeting. Iran accused the US of supporting the attack. However, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said, “We are not involved in strikes against Iran” and added, “Iran should not target US interests or personnel.”

the-white-house-statement
The White House Statement

The State Department told US employees in Israel to shelter in place. Oil prices surged, and Asian stock markets dropped sharply. Earlier, Trump said the conflict “could very well happen” and noted that Israeli action might “blow” or “help” a nuclear deal.

He said a “pretty good” deal was nearly ready. Still, he admitted, “I don’t want them going in… but it might help.” The US also reduced embassy staff in Iraq due to risinthg risks in the region.

After a UN nuclear watchdog accused Iran of failing to follow its obligations, Israel called for global action. In response, Iran announced plans to build a new enrichment centre in a secure area. It also planned to upgrade its Fordo site with advanced centrifuges.

Iran now enriches uranium to 60%. This level stays under the 90% needed for a nuclear bomb, but it clearly breaks the 3.67% limit from the 2015 deal. Iranian officials said they would keep expanding the program despite the attacks.

For Rom-Com Lovers: “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before” (Trilogy)

Let’s be real: Lara Jean and Peter Kavinsky gave us butterflies we did not expect. These films are sweet, nostalgic, and full of the kind of “aww” moments that are so much better when watched with someone who will pause to scream at the screen with you.

Snack pairing: Chocolate-dipped strawberries and orange juice. Obviously.

For When You’re Feeling a Twisty: “Behind Her Eyes”

One word: wild. This psychological thriller starts slow, then completely flips the script by the end. If you’re into shows that make you text each other “WAIT WHAT JUST HAPPENED?!” Yea this is it.

Warning: Don’t Google it. Just press play.

For Comfort Vibes: “Derry Girls”

Short episodes. Thick Irish accents. Zero chill. “Derry Girls” is pure chaos in the best way possible, following a group of teens growing up in 90s Northern Ireland. You’ll be quoting it after one episode (“I’m not being an individual on my own!”).

Bonus: You can easily binge it in a night. You will want to.

For the Fantasy Fanatics: “Shadow and Bone”

It’s like Harry Potter meets Game of Thrones, with a dash of swoony romance and dark magic. Even if fantasy isn’t your usual go-to, this one’s visually stunning and surprisingly addictive.

Bestie tip: Watch it together and pick your “emotional support Grisha.” It’s a thing.

For Cry-Laughing: “Dead to Me”

Christina Applegate and Linda Cardellini are the messy, ride-or-die best friends we all secretly aspire to be. With dark humour, mystery, and emotional gut-punches, this show is a rollercoaster and your bestie will be glad to be strapped in with you. Netflix has quite some good comedy shows.

Optional but recommended: Tissues.

For Dancing in Your PJ’s: “Someone Great”

This underrated rom-com is about heartbreak, friendship and healing. All set for a killer playlist. Gina Rodriguez is charming, funny, and totally relatable as a woman trying to move on and move forward.

Must-do: Post-movie group karaoke to Lizzo’s “Truth Hurts.” Trust us.

For the Crime Junkies: “The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window”

Is it a satire? Is it a thriller? It’s both and it’s hilarious. Kristen Bell absolutely nails the over-the-top drama in this cheeky mystery that pokes fun at the genre while still keeping you guessing.

Suggested activity: Try to solve the mystery before your bestie does. Loser refills the snacks.

How to Check PTA Approved in Pakistan

How-to-Check-PTA-Approved-in-Pakistan

You know what troubles our people more than buying a new phone? It’s PTA approval. Why? Perhaps because it appears to be an additional expense. But what does it really mean? And most importantly, how to check the PTA-approved status to avoid the frustration of a blocked phone?

Make no mistake, the PTA’s approval of a phone is very important. It is a basic precaution/protocol that prevents our phones from being used in illegal activities. Here is how anyone can check it, no matter the device they have.

Quick Steps to Check PTA Approved Status for your Mobile

Checking your phone’s PTA status is simpler than you think. Whether you’ve bought a phone locally or brought one in from overseas, you can verify its status through any of these three reliable methods:

1. VIA SMS

How much more convenient can it get than a quick text? For the ease of the users, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has released a code for SMS checking.

  1. Open your phone’s dial and type *#06#. It will show you a 15-digit IMEI number of your device (there are multiple ways you can check the IMEI number of a phone.
  2. Type your phone’s 15-digit IMEI number.
  3. Send it to 8484.
  4. You’ll instantly receive a reply from PTA telling you whether your device is compliant (approved), non-compliant, or blocked.

2. PTA Device Registration System (DRS) Website

Want a more detailed report? The PTA has a dedicated portal:

  1. Visit the PTA Device Registration System (DIRBS)
  2. Scroll down and enter your IMEI number in the check status of your device section.
  3. Click on Check.
  4. The website will display the device’s status.
Note: It is always suggested to use a PC or laptop for checking IMEI registration.

If your phone is not PTA-approved, you can register it via DIRBS to make it legal.

  • Sign in with your CNIC and password
  • Provide your phone’s IMEI, model, and passport (if applicable).

Why is Mobile PTA Approval Important?

People often underestimate the importance of PTA approval in mobiles, until their numbers get blocked (no calls, no texts, no internet). Because using non-PTA smartphones is illegal and an act of carelessness.

Pakistan Telecommunication Authority introduced this system to curb smuggled and counterfeit phones, ensuring only verified devices are operational. It’s their way of protecting both consumers and the telecom ecosystem by adding security.

Moreover, the revenue generated from PTA approvals aids in tax revenue generation.

According to the latest statistics, PTA has blocked over 5000 mobile phones in the fiscal year 2023-24, as the authority claimed that the cell phones have been used in illicit activities. Hence, for uninterrupted connectivity, PTA approval is vital.

Benefits of Having Mobile PTA-Approval

Here’s why it’s worth checking your PTA status:

  • Full access to all mobile services and their features.
  • Better resale value of your device as people prefer paying for a phone that has it’s PTA verification done.
  • Registering your high-end gadget with PTA will allow you to use any local SIM card and secure your data from being misused in case your mobile is stolen
  • Assurance that your device is neither counterfeit nor stolen; it’s officially registered, and all its components are verified and monitored.
  • Compliance with Pakistan’s telecom regulations

How to Register Non-PTA Mobile Phones?

Figured out your device isn’t PTA approved? Here is how you can register it.

Disclaimer: Before moving forward, know that you will have to pay some amount of tax (dependent on the phone’s model and price). So don’t think this process is free. The tax can be calculated using the PTA tax calculator.

PTA Device Registration – Dial *8484#

Consumers can easily register their non-PTA mobile phones by dialling the code *8484# and simply following the instructions.

PTA Device Registration Visiting the Link

You can also register your mobile through the PTA DIRBS portal:

  1. Go to: https://dirbs.pta.gov.pk/drs
  2. Sign up with your CNIC and contact details.
  3. Provide your phone’s IMEI, model, and passport (if applicable).
  4. Pay the applicable PTA tax/duty.
  5. Get your mobile PTA-approved within days!
Note: Before opting for registration on your mobile phone, read the instructions carefully. Beware of scammers who tell you they can do it cheaper.

Final Verdict

Understanding how to check PTA approved status is crucial for every mobile user in Pakistan, especially given the surge in imports of smart phones.

With a costly phone comes bigger responsibilities. Cut down on the flexing and get your beloved phone PTA-approved first. It will save you from long-term hassle!

Elon Musk Regrets Trump Tweets, But How Did It Go So Far?

musk-regrets-trump-tweets-but-how-did-it-go-so-far

Elon Musk and Donald Trump, two highly egoistic, powerful men, clashed with each other recently. Not much of a surprise, honestly. But how did it come to this? Especially when this relationship/friendship was mutually beneficial for the two.

On one hand, you have Musk: the Tesla/SpaceX/X (Twitter) tycoon who is also the richest man in the world currently. On the other hand, Trump: the political wrecking ball who is also the president of USA right now.

You’d think they’d bond over their mutual disdain for convention. For a time, they did. Until, well… they didn’t.

Now, Elon regrets the tweets.

The Bromance that Never Was

Let’s rewind a bit. Musk wasn’t always anti-Trump. In fact, when Trump first took office, Musk joined his advisory councils. There was talk about collaboration on infrastructure, job creation, and even climate policy (which feels almost laughable in hindsight).

Musk, fresh off Tesla and SpaceX success, even served in Trump’s “Department of Government Efficiency” (DOGE) to cut down on government expenditures.

But cracks started showing.

Tensions hit a high point when Musk slammed Trump’s signature fiscal package—the so-called “One Big Beautiful Bill” by calling it a “disgusting abomination,” blasting debt and EV subsidy cuts.

From Mutual Benefit to a Battle of Insults

After that, things got wildly dramatic (and to think they said women were too emotional to lead).

Musk accused Trump of being implicated in the Jeffrey Epstein files (a claim later deleted), called for his impeachment, and humiliated him through meme warfare on X. Trump, not one to take it lying down, hit back on Truth Social and threatened to revoke government subsidies and contracts worth billions.

The result? Tesla shares plummeted 14%, wiping out over $150 billion in market value. SpaceX was briefly dragged into the chaos, with Musk threatening to “decommission” the Dragon spacecraft — a threat he later retracted.

So, Why Did it Go So Far?

Simple answer? Ego. Complicated answer? Ego, ideology and overestimation.

And now? Elon Musk is reportedly expressing regret. Not for disagreeing with Trump but for turning it into a public spat that alienated both conservative allies and moderates who saw the beef as childish and unnecessary.

He’s lost influence on both sides of the aisle and gained little in return.

If anything, this saga has shown us one thing. These billionaires are very well aware of each other’s crimes, but their anger is never out of goodwill and is more based on their personal benefit.

Israel Ready to Attack Iran Soon, Says U.S. and European Officials

israel-ready-to-attack-iran-soon-say-u-s-and-european-officials

US and European officials believe Israel is preparing to launch an attack on Iran soon, a move that could escalate tensions in the Middle East and undermine efforts by the Trump administration to reach a nuclear deal with Tehran.

Due to these concerns, the US has withdrawn diplomats from Iraq and authorised the voluntary departure of military family members from the region.

It is unclear how large an Israeli strike might be, but tensions have been mounting. Prime Minister Netanyahu has been urging President Trump to take advantage of what Israel perceives as a moment of vulnerability for Iran.

President Trump had previously halted an Israeli strike, stating he wanted to pursue negotiations. He recently told the New York Post that he is now “less confident” about reaching a deal, following Iran’s supreme leader’s rejection of a US proposal to halt uranium enrichment.

Talks between American and Iranian officials are scheduled for Sunday in Oman, with Trump’s envoy Steve Witkoff expected to attend.

Iran has already prepared a response in the event of an Israeli strike, reportedly aiming hundreds of ballistic missiles at Israel. Iran’s Defence Minister, General Aziz Nasirzadeh, warned that the US would face heavy losses if conflict were to break out.

“America will have to leave the region because all its military bases are within our reach, and we will, without any consideration, target them in the host countries,” he stated.

General Michael Kurilla said he had presented Trump with several military options. Iran’s mission to the United Nations described Kurilla’s remarks as “militarism.”

Resolution to Censure Iran’s Nuclear Programme

The IAEA Board is meeting in Vienna, where the US, UK, France, and Germany have submitted a resolution to censure Iran for advancing its nuclear programme.

If passed, this could lead to the reimposition of heavy sanctions under the 2015 nuclear deal, which Trump withdrew from in 2018. Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, stated that the censure “will compel Iran to react strongly.”

Meanwhile, military dependents are also being withdrawn from Bahrain, and analysts suggest Iran is nearing the capability to produce nuclear weapons-grade material.

Overdid the Meat this Eid al-Adha? Simple Ways to Reset and Detox

overdid-the-meat-this-eid-al-adha-simple-ways-to-reset-and-detox

Eid al-Adha is a festive occasion marked with joy and celebration. Sacrifices and congregational prayers bring everyone together, but the immediate aftermath of this eid often sees thousands flocking into hospitals with gastrointestinal (GIT) distress.

Diarrhoea, cholera, severe abdominal pain, and excessive vomiting send many to hospital emergencies. Overconsumption of kaleji, paya, beef nihari, and mutton korma, among other local delicacies, is the culprit behind it all.

Add in poor meat storage practices and inadequate refrigeration often exacerbate the potential health drawbacks of meat consumption. However, most problems have a solution, and the post-Eid al-Adha GIT distress can be managed effectively.

Here are a Few Ways to Detox After Eid al-Adha

Go Vegan for a While

Meat, especially when consumed in excess, takes a toll on the digestive system and associated organs like the liver. In contrast, vegetables, beans, grains and other vegan food tend to be more GIT-friendly causing faster and better digestion.

Mixed sabzi, daal, and khichdi should give your digestive metabolic processes a much-needed reprieve, allowing time for recuperation.

Load up on the Fibre

Red meat, which includes mutton and beef, is low in fibre. Low fibre is associated with reduced GIT motility, increases the chances of bloating and constipation. Hence, Pakistanis typically run low on fibre in the aftermath of Eid al-Adha.

load-up-with-fibre
Load up with fibre

Again, green vegetables and grains are the best sources of fibre. Adding more fruits, some spinach, carrots, and oats to your plate should serve you well.

Say No to Sugar

Most meals don’t end with just meat, they’re often finished with sweets and desserts to satisfy those post-meal cravings. On Eid al-Adha, many prefer classics like sheer korma and kheer to complement their savoUry meat dishes

Excess sugar is also detrimental to the GIT as it increases inflammation, and can disrupt the normal balance of bacteria in the gut. Thus, take a break from adding sugar to your tea, and stay away from bakeries.

Light Exercise and Good Rest will Serve You Well

Sleep well for at least seven hours. Also, when awake, it is better to stay moderately active in periods of excessive food consumption. Sitting on the couch and watching Netflix may not help, but light and brisk walks after meals will do you good.

Try Natural Digestive Aids

Excess meat can strain the GIT system, but nature provides a convenient solution for controlling the digestive turmoil induced by meat. Sipping green tea and ginger water are good natural remedies for improving gut health and tackling GIT distress.

If you’re feeling overly full after Eid, these remedies can help manage mild digestive discomfort. However, in more serious cases, it’s important to consult a qualified physician. Persistent vomiting or diarrhea can lead to dehydration, so seeking medical attention at a hospital is strongly recommended.

Either way, in the future, carefully monitor and observe meat consumption during Eid al-Adha. It is easy to lose sight of one’s health in such festive occasions, but the potential consequences could be serious.

Imad Wasim Backs Babar Azam, Rizwan for T20I Comeback

imad-wasim-backs-babar-azam-rizwan-for-t20i-comeback

In a time when Pakistan cricket seems to be caught in a whirlwind of change, former all-rounder Imad Wasim has stepped forward to back two of the team’s biggest names — Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan.

While the cricketing world debates their future in the T20I setup, Imad has one simple message: “Trust them, they’ve got what it takes.”

A Vote of Confidence, Not Criticism

In a recent interview with a local sports platform, Imad cleared the air on the growing narrative around Babar and Rizwan’s roles in Pakistan’s T20 future. His comments were refreshingly honest — but also respectful.

“I’m specifically talking about T20 cricket,” Imad said. “They’re such big players and such big names — not just for Pakistan but for the fans. People want to see them evolve and succeed in this format.”

While some interpreted his earlier remarks as criticism, Imad explained that his views were meant to spark introspection, not stir controversy.

Babar’s ODI and Test Legacy is Untouchable

Imad Wasim made it crystal clear — Babar Azam’s place in ODI and Test cricket isn’t up for debate.

“Babar has one of the best ODI records in the world. He’s not going anywhere. In 50-over cricket, you need anchors, you need players who can build innings, and Babar does it better than most,” he stated.

In essence, Imad’s point wasn’t about whether Babar belongs, but where his game needs to evolve, especially in the high-paced, ever-changing world of T20 cricket.

T20 Is a Different Beast

With T20 cricket demanding constant innovation, intent, and adaptability, Imad believes it’s the right time for senior players to reflect.

“If they’re willing to change — if they want to adapt — I’m happy for them. They have the skill. I know they can do it. And if they turn up and prove everyone wrong, I’ll be the first one to praise them,” he added.

This isn’t criticism. It’s a challenge from a teammate who’s seen the grind, felt the pressure, and knows the demands of modern T20 cricket.

A Team in Transition — But Not Without Its Pillars

With Pakistan cricket seemingly heading toward a generational shift, conversations about the roles of established stars like Babar and Rizwan are inevitable.

But Imad’s voice stands out — not because it’s loud, but because it’s measured, fair, and rooted in belief. He isn’t asking for blind loyalty. He’s calling for patience, perspective, and the kind of support that true champions deserve when they’re down.

Imad Wasim, a T20 specialist himself, isn’t asking fans to ignore flaws. He’s asking them to trust in the process — and in the players who’ve already brought them countless moments of joy.

On Thursday, an Air India plane carrying 242 passengers crashed close to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad. “Air India confirms that flight AI171, from Ahmedabad to London Gatwick, was involved in an accident today after takeoff,” the airline confirmed.

A Boeing 7878 aircraft was used to carry out the flight. It had 10 cabin crew members, two pilots, and 230 passengers. Though not disclosing the number of wounded, Air India stated the injured were being delivered to nearby hospitals.

According to Air India, the travellers included 169 Indians, 53 British, seven Portuguese, and one Canadian. The statement ignored the nationalities of the other 12.

According to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), 242 people were on board along with 12 crew members.

Air India said it was completely cooperating with the officials. The airline also launched a hotline for passenger support: 1800 5691 444.

Gatwick Airport in London verified that the Air India flight that was involved in the accident was due to arrive later today. According to X, more changes will be made public.

According to flight tracking site Flightradar24, the plane’s signal vanished within a minute following departure. At local time 1:38 pm (1:18 pm PKT), the flight departed from Ahmedabad airport.

Wasim Akram Comments on His Hilarious Statue at Niaz Stadium

wasim-akram-comments-on-his-viral-statue-at-niaz-stadium

Cricket fans on social media had a field day this week, but it wasn’t about a match or a fiery spell—it was about a statue. Yes, a statue of legendary Pakistani pacer Wasim Akram, placed outside Hyderabad’s iconic Niaz Stadium, went viral for all the wrong reasons.

While the intention was to honour a national hero, the execution left fans confused—and well, amused.

The Statue that Sparked a Meme Storm

The statue, meant to immortalise Wasim Akram in his classic left-arm bowling action wearing the 1999 World Cup jersey, caught fire online—but not in the way the creators had hoped.

The biggest gripe? The face didn’t resemble Wasim Akram—not even remotely. Social media users didn’t hold back, comparing the sculpture to everything from wax museum fails to horror movie characters.

Memes flooded the timelines, and once again, the internet did what it does best: turn a tribute into trending content.

Wasim’s Response?

While many in his place might’ve been offended, Wasim Akram showed exactly why he’s a legend—on and off the field.

Taking to social media, the Sultan of Swing posted a side-by-side picture of his statue and a meme-worthy tiger sculpture, cheekily writing:

“Lots of talk about my sculpture being erected at Niaz Stadium, Hyderabad. Mine is definitely better than the tiger.”

And just like that, Wasim turned the laughter with him instead of at him.

“Full Marks for the Effort”

Rather than ridiculing the sculptor or the authorities behind the tribute, Wasim chose empathy and appreciation. He acknowledged the gesture and appreciated the intention behind the statue.

“It’s the idea that matters. Credit to the creators, full marks for the effort and thanks to everyone involved,” he added.

It’s this humility and grace that continue to make Wasim one of the most respected figures in Pakistan cricket, even long after his retirement.

“You Don’t Need to Lose 40 Kilos…”Imad Wasim to Azam Khan

imad-wasim-shares-key-advice-for-azam-khan

In the world of modern cricket, fitness isn’t just an add-on—it’s a must. And former all-rounder Imad Wasim isn’t shying away from saying it like it is, especially when it comes to Pakistan’s talented but struggling wicketkeeper-batter Azam Khan.

In a recent interview on a local sports show, Imad gave fans a peek into a heart-to-heart conversation he had with Azam. No drama, no headlines—just some old-school, brotherly advice laced with realism and concern.

“You Don’t Need to Lose 40 Kilos…”

Imad made it clear that Azam Khan doesn’t need to undergo a dramatic transformation. But a little commitment to fitness, especially trimming down just a bit, could make all the difference.

“It was me and Azam, sitting and talking about cricket. He loved it. There were things that I advised him to sort out. You don’t need to lose 40 or 30 kgs—you just need to lose a bit,” Imad said, keeping it real.

That’s the kind of candid honesty you’d expect from a teammate who genuinely cares.

Talent Isn’t the Problem—Discipline Might Be

There’s no denying Azam Khan’s raw talent. Anyone who’s followed his domestic and franchise cricket journey knows that he can turn games around. But as Imad rightly pointed out, one season of poor form shouldn’t define a player, and it definitely shouldn’t end a career.

“Just get his head right towards the game… He’s a phenomenal talent, showing it all over the world. One season doesn’t make you a bad player.”

Imad believes that with the T20 World Cup done and dusted, Azam now has 3-4 months of downtime—a golden opportunity to hit the reset button.

A Wake-Up Call for Azam Khan

Azam’s recent numbers tell a painful story. In PSL 10, playing for Islamabad United, he managed just 66 runs in 7 matches—an average of 11.00 with a strike rate of 101.53.

At the international level, it hasn’t been much brighter either. 14 T20Is, 88 runs, average of 8.80. His last international outing? That forgettable match against the USA in Dallas, where Pakistan suffered a shocking defeat in the 2024 T20 World Cup.

It’s been rough. But it’s also the kind of phase that builds character—if a player is willing to learn and bounce back. And Imad seems to believe Azam is.

Can Azam Khan Turn It Around?

The message is loud and clear: Azam Khan has the talent, but now he needs the discipline. Fitness isn’t just about aesthetics—it affects reflexes, movement, and mental sharpness, especially for a wicketkeeper. And while losing weight might not be the only solution, committing to self-improvement is.

Imad’s advice wasn’t harsh—it was human. A reminder that behind every underperforming stat is a player trying to find his way back. And if Azam can channel this low phase into motivation, Pakistan might just get back a better version of the explosive hitter they hoped for.

Is Pakistan Facing Two Different Seasons at Once?

is-pakistan-facing-two-different-seasons-at-once

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), portions of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) are expected to experience rain, thunder, and strong winds on Thursday.

Strong and dusty winds are foreseen in the plain regions of Punjab, the Met Office stated. Talagang, Jhelum, and Rawalpindi are likely to face light rain. Isolated showers with thunder might strike Murree, Galiyat, Attock, and Chakwal mainly in the late evening and night.

During the day, Islamabad and the surrounding areas will remain quite hot. The PMD said, “Thunderstorm-driven rain is possible at a few sites overnight.”

Strong and dusty winds will also strike the plains of KPK. In upper regions like Chitral, Dir, Swat, and Malakand, nocturnal lightning accompanied with rain occur. Thunder-showers in Mansehra, Shangla, Kohistan, and Abbottabad can also be anticipated.

Dry and very hot temperatures will linger over most of Sindh. Cities like Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, and Larkana will stay warm. The PMD said that Balochistan areas would also experience above-normal temperatures with similar dry and hot conditions.

The meteorological office cautioned that there would be ongoing heatwave-like weather in these southern regions. People must stay hydrated. During peak afternoon hours, particularly in locations under extreme heat, the public should limit outside activity.

For Sindh and Balochistan, there are no indicators of imminent weather change. For the moment, thunder and rain are limited to central and northern Pakistan.

The weather systems imply that some relief would come for Punjab and KP only by nighttime and evening storms. The PMD’s warning also reminded residents to take safety measures.

2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers: Who’s In and Who’s Out?

2026-fifa-world-cup-qualifiers-whos-in-and-whos-out

The 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying path is warming up. Some are in. Others are out. And for a select few, the dream is still on the cards.

Brazil Locks It Up with Vinicius Strike

Brazil qualified officially following a tight 1-0 victory over Paraguay in São Paulo. Vinicius Jr scored the solitary goal at halftime, sending the home fans of 46,000 at Corinthians Arena into jubilation.

The victory was Brazil’s first with the newly appointed coach Carlo Ancelotti, and it made them part of the World Cup roster.

They now join Argentina and Ecuador as confirmed South America representatives.

Heartbreak for Palestine

In Amman, Palestine saw their hopes crushed by a 97th-minute penalty. They led Oman through Oday Kharoub’s first-half goal but couldn’t hold on. Essam al-Subhi equalised from the spot, and the 1-1 result knocked Palestine out of contention for the next round.

Palestine has been hosting all of its qualifiers in neutral locations because of the Gaza war. Home grounds are still out of reach. The team was spirited and tenacious, but the goal at the dying minutes squandered their World Cup hope. Oman now takes their place.

Who’s In So Far?

Below is a glance at the teams that have secured their spot at the 2026 tournament:

Asia: Iran, Japan, South Korea, Australia, Jordan, Uzbekistan

South America: Brazil, Argentina, Ecuador

Oceania: New Zealand

The North American teams: USA, Canada, Mexico (as co-hosts)

Europe and Africa have not yet confirmed any teams. Their qualifying campaigns run on into late 2025.

Who’s Out?

Chile, a third-place finisher at the 1962 World Cup, will not be in the 2026 tournament. China, hoping to return after a 2002 elimination, also did not qualify.

Who’s Still in the Running?

Some big-time contenders are still in the running:

Asia: Qatar, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Indonesia

South America: Uruguay, Colombia, Venezuela, Paraguay, Bolivia

North America: Panama, Costa Rica, Jamaica, Honduras, and others

Oceania: New Caledonia (bound for intercontinental playoffs)

What’s Next?

March 31, 2026, is when the 48-team final roster will be determined. June 11, 2026, will see the beginning of the tournament in Mexico City, while July 19 will host the final at New Jersey. In the meantime, the war for the remaining tickets continues.

Billionaire Walmart Heiress Joins Anti-Trump Movement

billionaire-walmart-heiress-joins-anti-trump-movement

It’s not just the common men but also the billionaires. Walmart heiress Christy Walton has lent her support to a nationwide protest campaign against American President Donald Trump.

The 76-year-old silently sponsored a full-page advertisement in The New York Times this week, calling on Americans to take to the streets on June 14—the same day Trump intends to stage a military parade in Washington, D.C.

The advertisement, which has the headline, No Kings,” pairs Walton with a rapidly expanding political movement that is mounting more than 1,800 protests nationwide. The movement calls outs authoritarianism and demands a turn toward democratic ideals.

NO KINGS

“We Don’t Do Kings”

The No Kings movement won’t take to the streets of D.C. Rather, it seeks to make waves in cities across the country. “In America, we don’t do kings,” says the group on its website.

Walton’s advertisement identifies eight guiding principles, such as defending civil rights, taking care of veterans, and being defiant towards dictators. “The honour, dignity, and integrity of our country are not for sale,” the message says.

This is the second time Walton has placed such an advertisement. In March, she ran a comparable one encouraging civic engagement, though without the No Kings identification.

Walton’s Quiet Political Moves

While Walton hasn’t criticised Trump directly, she did make her position known. She co-hosted a fundraiser for Kamala Harris last year in Wyoming and gave more than $700,000 to Democratic efforts.

That includes $100,000 to WelcomePAC, an organisation that targets moderate voters, and $200,000 to The Lincoln Project, an anti-Trump conservative organisation.

Walton inherited her wealth when her husband, John Walton, passed away in 2005. She holds 1.9% of Walmart but has no position in the operations of the company. Walmart stated that Walton’s political positions are hers alone and have nothing to do with the retail giant.

Billionaire Pushback Grows

Walton is not the only billionaire criticising the Trump Administration. Citadel founder and former Trump ally Ken Griffin criticised the president’s economic policies at a recent summit.

JB Pritzker, Hyatt heir and Illinois governor, has also demanded protests, deeming the Trump administration “authoritarian.” Even JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon warned of Trump’s tariff policy and its effect on consumers.

As the protests gain steam on the eve of Saturday, Walton’s message is elegant in its simplicity and force: protest peacefully, voice your objection, and defend democracy.
