Usman Qadir Bids Farewell to Pakistan Cricket

Usman Qadir, the son of the legendary leg-spinner Abdul Qadir, has announced his retirement — from Pakistan cricket. It’s interesting that for the first time, a player did not announce retirement from international cricket, leaving the door open for international cricket but with some other team.

A Heartfelt Goodbye

Usman shared the news on his official X (formerly Twitter) account and expressed immense pride in wearing the green jersey. “It has been an immense honor to represent my country, and I’m thankful for the support of my coaches and teammates who have been with me every step of the way,” he stated.

“From unforgettable victories to the challenges we faced together, each moment has shaped my career and enriched my life. I’m deeply appreciative of the passionate fans who have always stood by me; your unwavering support has meant the world.”

A Short Career

Usman Qadir has represented Pakistan in 26 international matches since his debut in 2020 during a T20I match against Zimbabwe. He has taken a total of 32 wickets during his brief international career.

He was labelled a product of nepotism early on in his career. Imagine having to prove yourself in the shadow of a giant like Abdul Qadir! However, he proved the critics wrong by grinding hard in domestic cricket to prove his worth.

However, he still got sporadic chances in the Pakistan team. Not only that, he was also warming benches for different franchises for past few seasons in the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

Mohammad Hafeez Claims Pakistan Team Has Lost ‘Winning Formula’

mohammad-hafeez-claims-pakistan-lost-winning-formula-mohammad-hafeez-takes-a-dig-at-players-pr-agencies

It’s been a rough ride for Pakistan in Test cricket on home soil, and former captain Mohammad Hafeez has some thoughts on the reason behind this decline.

Pakistan, once known for dominating in their own backyard, seems to have lost its way. The last time Pakistan won a Test match at home was way back in February 2021.

Since then, it’s been one disappointment after another, with the most recent being a 2-0 series loss to Bangladesh. So, what exactly has happened?

Read More: Who Will Lead Pakistan After Babar Azam? Potential Options Revealed

What’s Gone Wrong?

In a recent interview, Mohammad Hafeez stated that Pakistan’s struggles at home can be boiled down due to them losing their “winning formula.” This formula, as Hafeez put it, was something Pakistan mastered when they played their home matches in the UAE.

“Unfortunately, Pakistan is missing the formula to win at home in Pakistan. We had acquired the winning formula at Pakistan’s adopted home which was UAE,” said Hafeez.

“We became the top-ranked Test team and even won the Test mace because we knew how to win in the UAE,” Hafeez pointed out. “But ever since cricket returned to Pakistan, that formula seems to have disappeared.”

It’s hard to argue with him. The UAE was like a fortress for Pakistan. Whether it was the slow, turning pitches or the ability to capitalize on their strengths, Pakistan knew how to get the job done. However, we should not forget the quality of spin bowlers Pakistan team used to have back then.

Giving Credit to Bangladesh

Mohammad Hafeez also appreciated the Bangladesh cricket team for playing positive cricket and keeping Pakistan team under pressure. “At the international level, you can’t consider any team weak,” he said.

He was impressed with their mindset, body language, and smart decisions, which earned them a well-deserved win in Pakistan.

“Bangladesh deserved to win in Pakistan because of their mindset, body language, the way they played positive cricket and their management made good decisions,” he added.

In the end, Mohammad Hafeez also highlighted the infrastructural difference between Pakistan and their adopted home UAE, terming the deplorable conditions of the pitches as one of the main reasons behind Pakistan’s inability to benefit from their home conditions like Australia, England and India.

Gary Kirsten’s Report Led To Babar Azam’s Resignation?

gary-kirsten-report-behind-babar-azam-resignation

Babar Azam shocked the world on Tuesday night with his resignation from Pakistan’s white-ball captaincy, however, there is more to the story behind his decision.

While Babar said that he wants to focus more on his batting, former Pakistan pacer Yasir Arafat thinks that white-ball head coach Gary Kirsten played a key role in Babar’s resignation.

The T20 World Cup Disaster

Let’s take a step back to the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, where Pakistan’s performance left fans pulling their hair out. Pakistan cricket team, for the first time, crashed out of the group stage.

The tournament kicked off with a disastrous loss to the USA, followed by an agonizing defeat to India. Those back-to-back losses were enough to derail Pakistan’s entire campaign and send them packing early.

who-will-decide-babar-azam-future-as-pakistan-captain

Fans and media have been calling for Babar’s resignation since the end of Pakistan’s campaign. Fast forward a few months, and Babar fulfilled their wishes by stepping as captain. The timing seemed odd, but if Yasir Arafat’s claims are anything to go by, it all starts to make sense.

Gary Kirsten’s Report

According to Yasir Arafat, the seeds of Babar’s resignation were planted when Gary Kirsten penned a detailed report after Pakistan’s World Cup disaster. This report, which was supposed to be confidential but somehow made its way to the media, highlighted several key issues within the team.

Kirsten reportedly wasn’t convinced that Babar Azam was the right man to lead Pakistan — especially in the T20 format. He analyzed Babar’s captaincy throughout Pakistan’s tour of England and the World Cup, and his conclusions were clear: Babar might not be the ideal fit for the job.

While Kirsten still saw Babar as a good fit for ODI captaincy, he believed that Pakistan needed new leadership in T20s. However, Babar decided to take a different route as he chose to step down from both roles entirely.

Word has it that Babar had a conversation with a senior PCB official before making the announcement, signalling that he wanted to focus on his batting rather than juggling captaincy and criticism.

With Babar stepping down, the PCB has a big call to make. Mohammad Rizwan is widely tipped to be the next ODI captain, while the young and fiery Mohammad Haris is reportedly in line for the T20I leadership.

Common Weight Loss Myths That Need To Be Debunked

common weight loss myths

When it comes to losing weight, plenty of advice exists. However, typically, what you will hear will be common weight loss myths that have been repeated so many times, that everyone believes they are true. Somehow, trying them and seeing no results isn’t evidence enough that they are myths. Let’s debunk some of these weight-loss tips together!

Losing Weight Is Not A Linear Journey

First, you must understand that losing weight isn’t always a straight path. Weight loss doesn’t happen in a straight line. Some days you’ll lose weight, and other days you might gain a little. This is normal. Weight can fluctuate due to water retention or food in your system, especially for women during their menstrual cycle. The key is consistency.

Supplements Are Not Magical

Supplements won’t magically make you lose weight, even though otherwise is believed. Many weight loss supplements make big claims, but they rarely work as advertised. The reason they might seem to help is the placebo effect, as in people become more mindful of what they eat. While a few supplements may have a small impact, they’re not a solution on their own.

Obesity Is More Complicated Than You May Think

Obesity isn’t just about willpower. It’s not fair to say obesity is only about willpower. Many factors contribute to weight gain, including genetics and medical conditions like hypothyroidism and PCOS. Hormones like leptin, which controls hunger, may also be out of balance, making weight loss harder for some people. Everyone has their own journey, it’s important to be mindful of that!

common weight loss myths

Eating Less, Moving More Is Not Enough

Eating less and moving more isn’t enough. While it’s true that you need to burn more calories than you eat to lose weight, this advice often falls short. People who just eat less and move more usually regain the weight. Losing weight requires long-term changes in habits, not just temporary fixes. Moreover, weight loss via simple cardio comes back. The most important thing you need to do is train your muscles.

Carbs Are Not Evil

Carbs aren’t the enemy. Low-carb diets can help with weight loss, but carbs alone don’t make you gain weight. The real issue is eating too many refined carbs like sugar and processed grains, not whole foods that contain carbs. So, let’s not make them the enemy here. You need carbs in your lunch for energy! Avoiding them will only make you lethargic.

These are just the tip of the iceberg. When you’re on a weight loss journey, the most important thing you need to do is your research. Know right from wrong and understand what works for you best. Be mindful that your journey will be different from those around you, it may take longer or it may require more effort, but you will get there surely.

Who Will Lead Pakistan After Babar Azam? Potential Options Revealed

babar-azam-breaks-silence-on-rumors-of-dispute

Babar Azam resigned from his position as the white-ball captain of Pakistan, however, now there is only one question on everyone’s mind — Who will become the new captain?

Well, to be honest, there are not many options in Pakistan, who can seamlessly transition into the role. However, insider reports suggest that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is considering the idea of appointing different captains for ODI and T20I teams.

The Shift in Leadership

With Babar Azam out of the picture, the PCB is now looking for fresh leadership to guide the national team in the shorter formats.

Mohammad Rizwan was long considered as Pakistan’s future captain across three formats. However, the twist in the tale is that Rizwan is the front-runner for the ODI captaincy only. Rizwan’s calm demeanour and rapport within the team make him a favorite for the captaincy in ODI cricket.

However, the situation in T20I cricket is different as Rizwan is often criticized for his slow approach. Reports suggest that the PCB is considering young wicket-keeper Mohammad Haris for the role of T20I captain. It is evident that PCB has faith in him, considering the fact that he has been a regular captain of Pakistan Shaheens for the past year.

Gary Kirsten’s Vision

Word on the street is that Gary Kirsten, Pakistan’s head coach for white-ball cricket, suggested that Babar Azam should be relieved of his T20I captaincy duties after the T20 World Cup to let him focus fully on ODIs.

However, Babar wasn’t thrilled about the idea and resigned from the captaincy of both formats, opening the door for a new leader. And that’s where Mohammad Haris comes in.

why-pcb-did-not-allow-mohammad-haris-to-play-bpl

Kirsten is said to be a huge fan of Haris, seeing him as the future of Pakistan’s T20 team. Haris has shown real potential in the shorter format. His aggressive and fearless approach fits right into the direction Kirsten wants to take the team.

Haris is seen as someone who can inject fresh energy and lead Pakistan with a new mindset as they build toward the 2026 T20 World Cup.

Signs of Change

The writing was on the wall when Babar wasn’t named captain for any team in the Champions One-Day Cup. Instead, he played under the leadership of Mohammad Haris in the Stallions team.

Pakistan is set to tour Australia in November for three ODIs and three T20s. The new captain will be announced before the tour, most probably around the end of October. With Rizwan’s experience and Haris’ potential, Pakistan seems to be ready for a new chapter.

Cristiano Ronaldo, arguably the greatest footballer of all time, has hinted that he might be approaching the final chapter of his legendary career. After leading Al-Nassr to a 2-1 victory over Al Rayyan in the AFC Champions League, the 39-year-old superstar dropped some heavy hints about his future.

“I’m Just Enjoying Football Now”

After the match, Ronaldo seemed reflective. When asked about what’s next for him, he didn’t dodge the question. “I’m just enjoying playing football now as I know I don’t have much time left on the pitch,” he said, with that familiar confidence we’ve seen throughout his career.

Ronaldo made it clear that his focus has shifted from personal accolades to simply savoring his remaining time on the field. “It’s not important to me now to be the best player or win awards. What’s important is to enjoy and help my team,” he added.

Now, if you’ve been following Ronaldo’s career, this is a big shift. We’re talking about a guy who’s built his entire legacy on winning Ballon d’Ors and Champions League titles.

And now, he’s just happy being on the field? It feels like the GOAT is finally at peace with the idea that his time in the spotlight may soon be over.

Still Dominating at 39

He might be nearing 40, but he’s still putting up numbers that would make players half his age jealous. Since joining Al-Nassr in January 2023, after that high-profile exit from Manchester United, he’s been nothing short of spectacular.

With 64 goals and 17 assists in 71 matches, he’s proving that age really is just a number. But while there’s talk of a potential contract extension with Al-Nassr, Ronaldo hinted that this could be his last deal.

Ronaldo’s been dropping subtle hints for a while now. Earlier this month, ahead of Portugal’s Nations League clash with Croatia, he talked openly about the prospect of retirement.

“When the time comes, I’ll move on,” Ronaldo said, not mincing words. “It won’t be a difficult decision to make.” He went on to explain that he’ll know when it’s time to hang up his boots. “If I feel like I’m no longer contributing anything, I’ll be the first to leave.”

The 29-year-old made the announcement on Wednesday night through his social media, much to the delight of a large portion of Pakistan cricket fans, who were demanding his resignation ever since T20 World Cup 2024.

Babar Azam’s Announcement

In a candid and emotional statement, Babar explained why he decided to give up the captaincy. “I’m sharing some news with you today. I have decided to resign as captain of the Pakistan men’s cricket team, effective as of my notification to the PCB and Team Management last month.”

“It’s been an honor to lead this team, but it’s time for me to step down and focus on my playing role,” he shared, admitting that the weight of the responsibility had started affecting both his performance and personal life.

“Captaincy has been a rewarding experience, but it’s added a significant workload,” he wrote. “I want to prioritize my performance, enjoy my batting, and spend quality time with my family, which brings me joy.” It’s pretty clear that Babar Azam has finally realized that the major reason behind his below-par batting form is his involvement in leadership role.

He ended his message by thanking his fans, who have stood by him through thick and thin. “I’m proud of what we’ve achieved together and excited to continue contributing to the team as a player.” His words had a certain finality, but also a hint of optimism for the future.

What’s The Real Reason?

While Babar’s resignation seems like a personal decision, there are rumors that paint a different picture. Sources suggest that this move wasn’t entirely voluntary. Word is that Babar wasn’t forced out, but white-ball coach Gary Kirsten wanted him to stay on as ODI captain only.

There was talk about making a change in T20 leadership after Pakistan’s disastrous T20 World Cup campaign. Apparently, Kirsten even brought up captaincy changes during a meeting in July when he presented his T20 World Cup report. Despite his efforts to keep Babar as ODI captain, Babar reportedly started feeling a disconnect with the team.

After the World Cup, communication between Babar and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) reportedly became sparse, only adding to his growing sense of isolation. Sources say Babar wasn’t included in key decisions after the tournament, which likely pushed him closer to stepping down.

A Look At Babar Azam’s Second Tenure

Babar’s second run as Pakistan’s white-ball captain was even worse then his first one. He only captained in T20I matches during this tenure but Pakistan cricket team suffered historic losses under him.

In his first series, Pakistan managed to draw a home series against a second-string New Zealand team. After that, during their tour of Ireland, Pakistan faced a historic loss in their first-ever T20I against the Irish, though they managed to win the series 2-1.

Things took a turn for the worse after that. Pakistan lost a T20I series 2-0 against England, and their T20 World Cup 2024 campaign was nothing short of a disaster. In the World Cup, Pakistan crashed out during the group stages after suffering a shock defeat to the USA and a heartbreaking loss to India.

Now that Babar Azam has stepped aside, the big question is: who’s going to lead the team? With the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 and other major tournaments coming up, Pakistan needs a strong leader to step up and take the reins.
