After Suzuki and Toyota, Changan Increases Price Across All Models

Changan Pakistan hiked prices across its entire lineup from July 1, 2025. Its competitors, Suzuki and Toyota, had already raised prices in early July. Now Changan users will have to shell out extra too.

How Much Were Prices Increased?

Price increases differed by model:

  • Oshan X7: increased Rs 175,000 for Comfort (7-seater) variant, now Rs 8.474 million. FS variants increased Rs 200,000, now Rs 9.149–9.299 million.
  • Alsvin later: MT Comfort by Rs 90,000 to Rs 4.189 million. Lumiere and Black Edition by Rs 100,000 to Rs 4.899–4.999 million.
  • Karvaan Power Plus: jumped Rs 50,000 to Rs 3.249 million.
  • Sherpa Power 1.2: now at Rs 2.349 million, up by Rs 45,000.
  • All the other models also witnessed increases of between Rs 45,000 and Rs 200,000.

Source: Profit by Pakistan

Why the Increase?

The increase came after Pakistan’s 2025–26 federal budget. It imposed a NEV (climate support) duty and carbon fuel duty depending on engine size (1%–3%). That affected internal combustion models. Changan transferred the entire amount to customers.

Changan also had to deal with higher gasoline prices, forex fluctuations, and increased production costs. Those contributed to higher pricing as well.

Consumers now pay extra for SUVs, sedans, vans, and pickups. Even value offerings such as Sherpa and Karvaan went up. The hikes came soon after Suzuki and Toyota increased prices steeply. That makes buyers face harder decisions.

Those looking for value can now consider buying electric cars. EVs and plug-in hybrids continue to be exempt from the NEV tax. Models such as Changan’s upcoming Lumin EV might command interest.

Market-Wide Reaction

Changan is not alone. Other big brands—Suzuki, Toyota, Honda, Hyundai, Kia—also hiked prices. All of them either mentioned the new tax and a depreciating rupee. Prices of cars overall could increase by as much as Rs 600,000 in certain models.

Some brands absorbed portions of the levy. Changan passed on all of it. That may redirect demand to competitors or used vehicles.

What Buyers Should Do

Book now: Prices may go up again.

Think of EVs: They don’t pay NEV levy.

Compare models: Look at competitors and pre-owned choices.

Negotiate: Dealers can make offers to spur sales.

Changan’s price increase is a new car market reality. Higher taxes and expenses affect all brands. Buyers need to rethink budgets. Sellers need to sell smarter. EVs can find new owners. Pakistan’s automotive landscape is changing rapidly.

Can COVID-19 Vaccines be the Reason Behind Sudden Deaths and Heart Attacks?

can-covid-vaccines-be-the-reason-behind-sudden-deaths

Recently, something very alarming has surfaced globally. The surge in sudden deaths due to heart attacks and other reasons in youth. You may have also come across two heartbreaking videos, one from Lahore, Pakistan and another from Firozpur, India that have gone viral. They show young, seemingly healthy men collapsing and dying from heart attacks during routine activities.

Due to the sudden surge, many have suspected that it may be due to the Covid-19 vaccines. However, many experts and medical professionals are refuting these claims, stating that there is no scientific evidence to back such “conspiracies”. But what is the truth and what is cover up? Why is there a rise in sudden deaths specifically after the Covid-19 Vaccine?

View this post on Instagram

A post shared by Brandsynario (@brandsynario)

What Medical Professionals Say?

Are these claims mere conspiracy theories, or is there any underlying evidence backing them? Only experts can answer this.

The National Academies review of clinical trials and epidemiological data found no evidence of increased sudden death following vaccination with Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca, or Novavax. In one Australian study, sudden cardiac deaths remained steady even within 30 days of vaccination.

The Centres for Disease Control examined nearly 1,300 death certificates of 16 and 30-year-olds in Oregon (June 2021–Dec 2022). Only three deaths were within 100 days of mRNA vaccination, and all had other serious health issues or undetermined causes. Crucially, no deaths were attributed to the vaccines.

Even keeping in mind the autopsy reports, medical professionals claimed that in all the reports, multiple reasons indicated the cause of death and none of them was linked to vaccinations. Some cardiac arrest patients had a family history of health diseases while the others were frequent vape/cigarette smokers. Even increased levels of stress was a major indicator but not vaccination.

One notable excerpt from the report reads: “The committee found no evidence to support a causal relationship between mRNA COVID-19 vaccines and sudden death in healthy individuals.” Even then, this doesn’t mean that we vote out the vaccines completely. Vaccines do have side effects like any other medication but the risks, when they exist, are exceedingly rare.

The Myocarditis Concern

The one risk that has drawn legitimate medical concern is myocarditis. This is an inflammation of the heart muscle. It has been observed, mostly in young men, after mRNA vaccines (Pfizer and Moderna).

According to a Nordic research on 23 million people, most of the myocarditis patients were those that were vaccinated. The more the vaccine dosage increased, the more Myocarditis cases were to be found.

But here’s what often gets lost in translation:

  • The rate is about 0.3 to 5 cases per 100,000 vaccinated individuals.

  • Most cases are mild, resolve on their own, and don’t result in death.

  • The risk of myocarditis from an actual COVID-19 infection is significantly higher.

In fact, a 2022 CDC report revealed that those infected with COVID-19 are up to 16 times more likely to develop myocarditis than those who received a vaccine.

When the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) investigated a cluster of sudden cardiac deaths in Karnataka, India, the panic was palpable. Yet their multi-agency probe, which included AIIMS, WHO, and CDC representatives, found no causal connection between vaccines and the deaths. Instead, poor lifestyle choices, smoking, genetics, and post-COVID complications were more likely factors.

The Role of Fear and Misinformation

Unfortunately, social media thrives on outrage and shock value. The now-debunked film “Died Suddenly” and similar narratives take real tragedies and wrap them in a conspiracy narrative, implying a global cover-up.

Grief doesn’t need a conspiracy to be valid. Losing someone suddenly, especially someone young is devastating. But we do them no justice by jumping to conclusions without evidence.

As a cardiologist quoted, “Correlation isn’t causation. The burden of proof lies in the data; not in what scares us.” Medicine isn’t perfect. And transparency matters. But it’s equally important to resist the pull of fear-based misinformation.

Many experts are recommending these steps to address such concerns:

  • Delaying strenuous physical activity for a few days after vaccination, especially in younger males.
  • Monitoring symptoms such as chest pain, shortness of breath, or palpitations post-vaccine.
  • Encouraging open discussions with doctors about personal risk factors.

If vaccines were truly causing large-scale cardiac deaths, we’d see a global pattern in data, emergency rooms, and insurance claims. We aren’t.

So yes, stay informed. Ask your doctor. Get the facts. But don’t let fear dictate your health choices. Because in the end, facts heal better than fear ever could.

Zayn Malik Confronts Racism in New Song ‘Fuchsia Sea’

zayn-malik-confronts-racism-in-powerful-new-song-fuchsia-sea

Zayn Malik opened up about his past in a new music teaser. On Instagram, the 32-year-old shared a clip of his upcoming track called ‘Fuchsia Sea’. In this rap, he discusses racism, tokenism, and feeling erased during his time in One Direction.

He raps, “I worked hard in a White band, and they still laughed at the Asian.” He continues, “Got my back against the wall so much they think I got a brick fascination… I’ve got a round trip to the constellation.” These lines sparked strong reactions online.

Zayn was the only South Asian in One Direction. He was in the band with Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson, Niall Horan, and the late Liam Payne. They rose to fame in 2010 after forming on The X Factor UK. Malik left the group in 2015, shocking fans.

Although he has talked before about mental health and wanting privacy, this is the first time he has hinted at racial reasons for leaving. The song suggests racism may have played a role in his exit. Many fans, especially South Asians, praised him for speaking up.

His lyrics were quickly linked to his past experiences. Fans said they always saw Zayn as a rare brown face in mainstream Western pop. Now, they feel his words confirm what many suspected all along.

Earlier this year, Zayn performed a One Direction song for the first time in 10 years. He sang ‘Night Changes’ during his ‘Stairway to the Sky’ tour in Mexico City. He told the crowd, “It’s the first time I’ve sung that song in 10 years. Thank you, that was f****** amazing. I almost cried.”

Zayn has mostly stayed away from the spotlight since 2015. But in November 2024, he reunited with Styles, Tomlinson, and Horan at Payne’s funeral. That moment brought old memories back for fans.

‘Fuchsia Sea’ is still unreleased, but the short preview already has fans talking. It feels like a long-overdue look into Zayn’s truth.

ICC Yet to Approve World Club T20 Championship as Rumours Swirl

sikandar-raza-leads-lahore-qalandars-to-psl-10-glory-imad-wasim-icc-yet-to-approve-world-club-t20-championship-as-rumours-swirl

The cricketing world may be buzzing with excitement over a potential World Club T20 Championship. But according to sources familiar with the matter, it’s still too early to jump to conclusions – especially about any team being left out.

No Green Light Yet

Contrary to recent rumours, no official decision has been made about launching a global T20 tournament featuring domestic league champions. More importantly, Pakistan’s PSL champions haven’t been excluded, because there’s no confirmed tournament to be excluded from in the first place.

“There has been no decision to hold a tournament involving T20 league-winning teams. Therefore, the question of excluding Pakistan doesn’t arise,” said a source close to the matter.

No Talk of the Tournament in Recent Meetings

Rumours had picked up steam after reports suggested that Lahore Qalandars. The reigning PSL 2025 champions, had been snubbed from a five-team event. But insiders have now labelled these claims as “baseless” and entirely speculative.

In fact, recent cricket meetings in England, which some believed would host discussions on the proposed World Club T20 Championship, reportedly had no mention of such a championship on the agenda. Furthermore, neither PSL nor IPL representatives were even present at the gatherings.

“The subject was not on the agenda. Moreover, no representatives from either the PSL or the IPL attended those meetings,” the source confirmed.

ICC Holds the Reins

Any global T20 event of this nature would fall under the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) jurisdiction. And as things stand, the ICC has made no formal announcements, nor taken any steps to initiate a new World Club T20 tournament.

“Since no such event is currently in the pipeline, speculation about Pakistan’s exclusion is both premature and unfounded,” added the source.

For the unversed, the idea of pitting the world’s top T20 franchises against each other isn’t new. Fans will remember the Champions League T20 (CLT20), a high-profile tournament held between 2009 and 2015. That event, while exciting in concept, failed to find consistent commercial success and was shelved after six editions.

In today’s T20 landscape, however, things have evolved dramatically. Countries like India, Pakistan, England, Australia, South Africa, the West Indies, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Zimbabwe, the UAE, and even the USA, all host flourishing domestic T20 leagues. The global appetite for franchise cricket has never been stronger.

Reuters’ X Accounts Blocked In India Amid Legal Confusion

reuters-x-accounts-blocked-in-india-amid-legal-confusion

X has blocked the Reuters news and Reuters World accounts in India. According to The Print, the platform did this “in response to a legal demand.” Despite the block, Reuters’ website and 30 other Reuters X handles remain accessible.

Many Indian users posted screenshots to show they couldn’t view the accounts. Reuters has not yet released a statement about the restriction. Meanwhile, India Today reached out to India’s Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.

The ministry denied issuing any such order to X. “There is no requirement from the Government of India to withhold the Reuters handle. We are continuously working with X to resolve the problem,” a MeitY spokesperson told India Today.

The Print noted that X usually shares legal enforcement updates on its Global Government Affairs handle. However, the handle has stayed silent on this issue. This silence raised more doubts about the origin of the block.

As of yet, The Hindustan Times pointed to a possible reason. In an Instagram post, it linked the restriction to Operation Sindoor. During that operation, India launched missiles at sites in Pakistan in May.

A post shared by Hindustan Times (@hindustantimes)

According to the post, X may have acted under government orders during that time. Yet, the government has not confirmed any such directive. Confusion continues as no party takes clear responsibility.

Earlier, on May 8, X had confirmed receiving government orders to block 8,000+ accounts. “In most cases, the Indian government has not specified which posts from an account have violated India’s local laws,” the company stated. “For a significant number of accounts, we did not receive any evidence or justification to block the accounts.”

Reuters has not commented publicly. Meanwhile, both the platform and the government appear to shift the blame. As a result, users remain in the dark about what truly happened.

Haris Rauf Faces Injury Setback Ahead of Bangladesh T20Is

"No Pressure on Pakistan Ahead of India Pak Match": Haris Rauf-haris-rauf-faces-injury-setback-ahead-of-bangladesh-t20is

Pakistan’s fast bowling firebrand Haris Rauf is staring at a spell on the sidelines after suffering a Grade 1 hamstring injury during the ongoing Major League Cricket (MLC) 2025 in the United States.

As a result, the 31-year-old is expected to miss Pakistan’s upcoming T20I series against Bangladesh, slated to begin later this month.

MLC Campaign Cut Short

Rauf, who was in red-hot form for the San Francisco Unicorns, picked up the injury during their victory over the Texas Super Kings.

Unfortunately, the setback has not only ruled him out of the remainder of the American T20 league but has also thrown a spanner in his international plans.

The Unicorns confirmed the news through their social media handles, showing full support for the pacer while also announcing New Zealand’s Ben Lister as his replacement.

“We’re with you, Haris. The San Francisco Unicorns can confirm Haris Rauf will miss the remainder of #MLC2025 with a hamstring injury,” the franchise posted.

Despite the early exit, Rauf can hold his head high, he currently tops the MLC 2025 wicket charts with 17 scalps in eight matches at an economy rate of 9.08. He had been a crucial part of the Unicorns’ bowling attack, regularly delivering the goods in the death overs.

Uncertainty Over National Duty

Back home, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is yet to issue an official statement on Rauf’s injury or provide a timeline for his recovery.

But as things stand, it looks increasingly unlikely that the speedster will feature in the three-match T20I series against Bangladesh, which begins on 20 July at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka.

The series is set to be a key assignment in Pakistan’s white-ball calendar, with matches scheduled for 22 and 24 July following the opener. The squad is due to arrive in Bangladesh on 16 July, but unless there’s a sudden recovery, Haris Rauf is expected to miss out.

PCB Shelves Champions Cup After Only One Season

whats-next-for-champions-one-day-cup-mentors-pcb-shelves-champions-cup-after-only-one-season

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has decided to scrap the Champions Cup tournament, just a year after its much-hyped launch. Introduced in 2024 with the aim of injecting fresh competitiveness into domestic cricket, the tournament has now been axed from the 2025–26 season calendar.

What’s more, the ambitious mentorship programme featuring some of Pakistan’s biggest cricketing names has also been dissolved.

Big Names, Bold Vision – But Short-Lived

Last year, the PCB had proudly unveiled a star-studded panel of mentors for Champions Cup: Waqar Younis, Saqlain Mushtaq, Misbah-ul-Haq, Shoaib Malik, and Sarfaraz Ahmed.

These five were roped in as team mentors through what was described as a “competitive and transparent” selection process. Each was reportedly handed a three-year contract, worth an impressive Rs five million per month.

It was a bold move. A clear statement of intent to revive the domestic game through experienced guidance and high standards.

What Went Wrong?

Sources close to the development reveal that the board carried out an internal review earlier this year to assess the tournament’s overall impact. The result? The Champions Cup didn’t live up to expectations. The mentorship model, too, was found wanting in terms of tangible returns.

Former captain Shoaib Malik was the first to bow out of his role, and his departure sparked deeper conversations within the board. Before long, the decision was made to part ways with the entire mentor setup.

It’s a major shift in strategy, especially given how recently these changes were introduced with fanfare.

What’s New for 2025–26?

While one tournament disappears, the PCB isn’t hitting pause on domestic cricket. In fact, it’s pushing forward with a restructured calendar that places more weight on performance and competitiveness.

The 2025–26 season will kick off with the Hanif Mohammad Trophy on 15 August, to be played across Karachi, Multan, Bahawalpur and Rahim Yar Khan.

The crown jewel, however, remains the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy. Revamped once again, the country’s premier first-class tournament will feature eight teams and begin on 22 September.

The PCB seems to be returning to tried-and-tested formats, while trimming what it sees as excess. Whether this recalibration brings greater clarity and competitiveness, only time will tell.

Methane Gas Kills Eight Turkish Soldiers in Iraqi Cave Operation

methane-gas-kills-eight-turkish-soldiers-in-iraqi-cave-operation

Turkiye said on Monday that three more soldiers had died after being exposed to methane gas during a cave search in northern Iraq. This raised the total death count to eight. The troops were part of a mission to find the remains of a soldier killed in May 2022.

The Turkish defence ministry said, “Three other of our heroic comrades in arms, affected by methane gas, have died, bringing the total number of victims to eight.” The operation was happening in a cave previously used as a hospital.

The ministry also stated, “During a search operation in a cave… previously known to have been used as a hospital… 19 of our personnel were exposed to methane gas.” No explanation was given for the gas source. The incident happened during a sensitive period of negotiations.

Turkiye and Kurdish officials are in talks to end the long-standing conflict. The PKK recently agreed to give up its armed fight. This conflict began in 1984 and has killed over 40,000 people since. The talks are ongoing while tension still exists on the ground.

The soldier whose body was being searched died during Operation Claw Lock. That operation targeted PKK fighters in caves near the Iraqi-Turkish border. His body was never found after the 2022 clash, leading to this new mission.

The deaths happened as a delegation from the pro-Kurdish DEM party visited Abdullah Ocalan. He is the jailed PKK founder. Their visit was part of the continuing peace talks with the Turkish government.

These latest deaths may complicate the peace efforts. The Turkish military is expected to review safety measures. No further information was provided about the ongoing search or the gas leak source.

Musk Breaks Up With Trump, Forms ‘America Party’

musk-breaks-with-trump-forms-america-party

Elon Musk said on Saturday that he is forming a third political party after a public fallout with President Donald Trump. The move follows Musk’s opposition to Trump’s domestic policy bill, which he claims will add trillions to the national deficit.

“When it comes to bankrupting our country with waste & graft, we live in a one-party system, not a democracy,” Musk wrote on X. “Today, the America Party is formed to give you back your freedom.”

Until recently, Musk was Trump’s top individual donor and adviser. He led efforts to slash federal spending and supported the president’s 2024 campaign. Their rift began when Musk criticised the spending bill, calling it “debt slavery.”

Musk deleted earlier posts attacking Trump but reignited tension this week as the bill neared passage. Trump signed it into law on Friday.

There is no current FEC record of a registered political entity under Musk’s name. He has said the America Party will focus on select House and Senate races during the 2026 midterm elections.

While Musk shares Trump’s stance on many social issues, he has sharply broken with Republicans over fiscal policy.

Trump responded by threatening to review federal contracts with Musk’s companies. He also called the Department of Government Efficiency, a “monster” that may “go back and eat Elon.”

Musk’s party would be the most high-profile third-party challenge since Ross Perot’s 1992 campaign. Experts say legal, financial, and voter resistance make third-party success extremely difficult.

Still, Musk appears committed to moving forward.

Lyari Tragedy: Death Toll Hits 27

lyari-tragedy-death-toll-hits-27

The death toll from the five-storey building collapse in Lyari has surged to 27. Among them were nine women, 15 men, and three children, including a one-year-old.

Rescue teams worked overnight in Lyari on Friday, removing bodies from the rubble on Fida Husain Shaikha Road, near Lea Market. By Saturday, the operation was 80% complete. According to Rescue 1122, the remaining effort may take five to six hours.

Officials stated that several people are still missing. Meanwhile, five more have been injured, including three women. Ten injured people have already been discharged.

Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, after leading the Ashura procession, confirmed the rescue efforts. He said, “Bodies have been handed over to families.”

The chief minister announced a full investigation into the collapse. The building, he revealed, was built just months ago and lacked approval. He promised strict action against those involved.

He also shared that 480+ buildings in old Karachi, mainly in District South, are considered dangerous. The government will help relocate affected residents.

However, many resist evacuation due to poverty or lack of awareness. CM Murad stressed, “Safety must come first.”

He urged buyers to always verify building approvals before renting or purchasing any property.

Ashura: A Day the Nation Grieves, Reflects, and Remembers

ashura-a-day-the-nation-grieves-reflects-and-remembers

Roads are less busy today all around the country. There is a heaviness in the surroundings. The tenth of Muharram, YoumeAshur, has arrived, bringing with it memories of Karbala that never fade.

People began gathering early in the morning not to celebrate, but to mourn. This is for a man who stood strong while everyone else stayed quiet, Hazrat Imam Hussain (Razi Allah Ta’ala Anho). Who chose truth over survival. Who didn’t bend in front of injustice, even when everything was on cost.

It’s not just a ritual. It’s personal. Families pass down stories of Karbala like heirlooms. Kids hear the name “Hussain” and learn it means courage. It means standing your ground when right and wrong aren’t just concepts; they’re lines in the sand.

Processions moved through city streets, slow and somber. Men, women, children, some with tears, some in silence, all united in grief. And in every majlis, Ulema and Zakireen reminded everyone what that sacrifice meant.

The security was rigorous. But no earthly force can protect the spirit Ashura carries. It dwells in people, in their steps, their prayers, their sorrow.

Earlier this month, on the first of Muharram, we also remembered Hazrat Umar ibn alKhattab (RA) a leader, a martyr, a supporter of early Islam. His death, too, was characterised by suffering and direction.

Ashura is not only a day of grief. It mirrors itself. It asks us what we stand for.

And just like that, Karbala speaks again.

Fly Local! Big News for Travellers in Hyderabad, Mirpur, and D.I. Khan

Airport
In Mirpur, stakeholders anticipate that the new facility will bridge aviation gaps for Azad Kashmir, while Hyderabad’s airport.

In a bold push to modernise national aviation infrastructure, the Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) has commenced work on multiple new airport projects across the country. These initiatives aim to strengthen Pakistan’s aviation network while addressing long-standing connectivity gaps in underserved areas.

As part of the plan, new airports are being developed in Mirpur (Azad Jammu and Kashmir), Dera Ismail Khan, and Hyderabad. Simultaneously, the government has initiated the reconstruction and expansion of Sukkur Airport to elevate it to a regional aviation hub. The strategic focus remains on improving accessibility, enabling efficient air travel, and unlocking economic potential in emerging regions.

Land Acquisition, Feasibility Studies, and Regional Impact

The government has made swift progress, with feasibility studies nearing completion and land acquisition already underway in Dera Ismail Khan. Authorities view the D.I. Khan airport as a long-overdue step towards improving air mobility for southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and neighbouring districts. Officials believe the development will create long-term value by enhancing intercity trade, tourism, and connectivity.

In Mirpur, stakeholders anticipate that the new facility will bridge aviation gaps for Azad Kashmir, while Hyderabad’s airport is expected to streamline business and cargo movement for interior Sindh. These locations were strategically chosen based on projected passenger volume, logistical needs, and regional growth outlook.

Sukkur Expansion and Hyderabad Aviation School on the Horizon

During a recent briefing to lawmakers, the PAA outlined detailed plans for the revamp of Sukkur Airport, including a full-scale reconstruction of the current terminal and the addition of a new passenger facility. Authorities envision Sukkur becoming a key northern Sindh aviation gateway, offering enhanced domestic operations and future international potential.

Meanwhile, the government has instructed the PAA to initiate commercial flight operations from Hyderabad Airport. Alongside this, plans are in motion to establish an aviation training school at the same site. This move will support technical education, create employment pathways in the aviation sector, and align with broader goals to build a skilled workforce in aviation and aeronautics.

These combined efforts form part of Pakistan’s overarching strategy to revitalise its aviation infrastructure, stimulate local economies, and ensure equitable development across all provinces.

35 Dead in Gaza Following Israeli Strikes Amid Ongoing Conflict

Israeli forces launched multiple airstrikes in densely populated areas, intensifying the conflict’s toll on civilians.

Israeli military strikes across Gaza since dawn on Saturday have resulted in the deaths of at least 35 Palestinians, according to local hospital sources cited by Al Jazeera. The strikes occurred while ceasefire negotiations remained active, with both sides signalling movement towards a temporary truce.

Details of the Latest Attacks

Israeli forces launched multiple airstrikes in densely populated areas, intensifying the conflict’s toll on civilians. In central Gaza’s Maghazi refugee camp, an air raid targeted a family home, killing at least two individuals. A separate strike in Gaza’s az-Zarqa neighbourhood claimed one life and injured several others, according to Palestinian news reports.

One of the most severe incidents occurred when Israeli forces attacked a school that was sheltering displaced civilians, resulting in at least five deaths. In another particularly deadly assault, seven members of a single family died after a tent in al-Mawasi was hit.

Hospital sources reported that at least two civilians waiting for humanitarian aid distribution were also killed in the early-morning attacks.

This renewed wave of airstrikes, observers note, reflects a pattern often seen before potential ceasefire agreements, whereby bombardments escalate immediately before a truce is finalized.

Cross-Border Strikes in Southern Lebanon

Simultaneously, an Israeli drone strike hit the town of Shebaa in southern Lebanon, near the tri-border region adjoining Lebanon, Syria, and the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights. Authorities have not yet released official casualty figures related to that strike.

Ceasefire Framework: Provisions and Conditions

The proposed ceasefire agreement, reportedly under the mediation of the United States, outlines a 60-day pause in hostilities. According to Al Jazeera, US President Donald Trump is expected to guarantee the arrangement.

As part of the deal:

  • Hamas has agreed to release 10 Israeli hostages alive.

  • The group will also return the remains of 18 others.

  • The exchange will begin on the first day of the ceasefire.

  • Humanitarian aid, including food and medical supplies, will be delivered through existing international mechanisms, notably the United Nations and the Red Crescent.

In return, Israel would suspend all offensive military operations across Gaza. This includes a daily 10-hour pause in military activities and surveillance flights.

Furthermore, Israeli forces would reposition from key areas, including northern Gaza, the Netzarim Corridor, and other southern sectors of the Strip. The framework also mandates that negotiations for a permanent ceasefire commence as soon as the temporary truce takes effect.

International Response and Regional Developments

Meanwhile, mass protests erupted in Sanaa, Yemen, where thousands of demonstrator primarily Houthi supporters, gathered to express solidarity with the Palestinian people. Protesters waved Palestinian flags and chanted slogans condemning the Israeli offensive.

Since October 2023, Yemen’s Houthi movement has fired missiles and drones towards Israel in what it claims are retaliatory actions in support of Gaza’s population.

Background: Gaza Conflict and Legal Proceedings

Israel’s military campaign in Gaza, which began in October 2023, has resulted in the deaths of at least 57,012 Palestinians, including over 134,000 children. The offensive has injured more than 111,000 and left over 14,200 missing and presumed dead.

In November 2024, the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defence Minister Yoav Gallant, citing war crimes and crimes against humanity committed in Gaza.

Additionally, Israel faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice (ICJ). These proceedings remain ongoing, even as ceasefire proposals introduce a potential turning point in the protracted conflict.

Pakistan Reports Lowest Inflation in Nine Years for FY2025

Inflation
The Chief Statistician delivered the inflation report, noting key shifts across food and commodity categories.
  1. Pakistan’s inflation rate dropped sharply to 4.5% in FY2024–25, a significant improvement from 23.4% in the previous fiscal year, as government policies and supply-side reforms took effect.

Government Reviews Inflation Trends and Policy Performance

Federal Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives, Ahsan Iqbal, chaired a high-level meeting to assess inflationary trends and price dynamics nationwide. The Chief Statistician delivered the inflation report, noting key shifts across food and commodity categories. Attendees included the Chief Economist, senior officials from the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, and representatives from both federal and provincial departments.

Urban Food Inflation and Regional Disruptions

Urban food inflation declined to 4.2%, down from 6.2% last year, signaling progress in market stabilisation. However, the report acknowledged regional price disruptions due to recent highway blockages in Sindh, which caused localised inflationary pressure.

Price Movement of Key Commodities

The Pakistan Bureau of Statistics reported price drops in various essential items, including:

  • LPG

  • Bananas

  • Mustard oil

  • Chickpeas

  • Moong dal

However, the price of sugar surged to nearly Rs. 190 per kilogram in many cities, driven by a sharp decline in domestic sugar production. This year’s sugar output fell to 5.8 million tons, compared to 6.8 million tons last year. To ease the pressure, the Ministry of Food has initiated plans to import 500,000 tons of sugar to stabilise market prices.

Monitoring Tools Underutilised by Provinces

Minister Ahsan Iqbal emphasised the need for rigorous monitoring using the Price Scorecard system. He pointed out significant disparities in platform usage:

  • Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Chief Secretary accessed it 114 times

  • Sindh only 10 times

  • Punjab 6 times

  • Balochistan had no recorded activity

Among Deputy Commissioners:

  • Islamabad logged in 27 times

  • Karachi 6 times

  • Quetta 4 times

The Minister voiced concern over the low engagement levels by certain provinces and directed the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) to submit monthly login reports to each province’s Chief Secretary.

Action Plan for Stronger Price Oversight

To strengthen price control efforts, the Minister instructed:

  • Deputy Commissioners to compare wholesale and retail prices regularly

  • Immediate corrective actions where discrepancies arise

  • Provincial governments to provide active oversight and logistical support

He also stressed the urgent need for an advance supply-demand plan for Ramadan, ensuring timely distribution and price stability during the holy month.

Looking Ahead: Sustaining Stability

The Minister praised price stability during Eid Al-Adha, urging authorities to maintain this momentum. He called for stronger coordination between federal and provincial governments to preserve low inflation and prevent future shocks.

Trump Launches Luxury Perfume “Victory 45-47” Amid Public Backlash

Trump perfume, Victory 45-47, Trump products,

Donald Trump has launched a new perfume named “Victory 45-47”, priced at $249. It features a gold statuette symbolising Trump and is meant for both men and women. The scent is marketed as representing “confidence, beauty and unstoppable determination.”

Trump promoted the perfume on his social media, urging followers, “Buy a bottle for yourself and don’t forget to buy one for your loved ones. Enjoy, have fun and keep winning!”

The name of the fragrance links to themes of “Victory, Strength and Success.” The new product adds to Trump’s branded line of sneakers, coins, watches and more.

This perfume launch follows his earlier collection titled “Fight! Fight! Fight!” released in December. That version sold at $199 and also focused on strength and bold messaging. Trump’s continued push into merchandise shows his focus on consumer branding during his political campaigns.

A recent report from June stated that Trump earned $2.5 million last year just from the sales of sneakers and perfume. Other Trump-themed products include the $69.99 “God Bless the USA” Bible and $299 “Trump Landslide” boots. These items have attracted both loyal buyers and strong criticism.

Online backlash followed soon after the new launch. A user on X wrote, “16 million Americans are about to lose their healthcare, but go buy my ugly perfume…”

Another added, “It’s so embarrassing there are no words to describe it.”

A third posted, “He embarrasses the country and makes his supporters look like fools every day.”

The public’s anger is linked to a Senate-approved bill called “One Big Beautiful.” The bill cuts $128 billion from state funds for SNAP and nearly $880 billion from Medicaid. That could strip over 10 million Americans of their health coverage.

As luxury products roll out, critics point to widening gaps between leadership actions and the needs of citizens.
