A wave of truth is crashing over the global luxury industry, and it’s coming straight from Chinese factories. Manufacturers and influencers are now publicly revealing that many items for luxury brands which are being sold for hundreds or even thousands of dollars are actually made in China for a fraction of the cost.
Viral TikTok videos and online posts are naming names: Ralph Lauren, Dior, Nike, Apple, Coach, Prada, and more. One Chinese CEO claimed that luxury items often cost only 10% of what they’re sold for. A supplier who makes Birkin bags even admitted that some of their $34,000 models cost just $1,400 to produce.
Social media is now flooded with behind-the-scenes videos showing the real factories behind these high-end goods. Influencers are encouraging people to stop paying for fancy brand labels and instead buy directly from manufacturers, saving thousands while getting the exact same product.
Here’s what’s truly shocking: up to 80% of luxury items from brands like Gucci, Chanel, Hermès, and Fendi are being made in China, then labelled as “Made in France” or “Made in Italy” to maintain the illusion of exclusivity.
While much of the world is focused on President Trump’s rising tariffs —reaching a whopping 145% on Chinese imports—another truth is surfacing. European industries and fashion giants are using the tariff chaos as a cover to raise prices even higher. They claim it’s due to “increased costs”, but insiders say it’s just another excuse to boost profits on already overpriced items.
China isn’t backing down. After Trump’s tariff hikes, China retaliated with a 125% tax on US goods. Chinese officials have remained confident, saying the economy will hold strong. President Xi has also started forming alliances with other countries affected by US trade policy, warning that no one wins in a trade war.
Customers are beginning to wonder what they’re truly paying for as these findings gain global attention. Is it real quality they’re purchasing, or is it marketing tactics? Thanks to China’s fearless openness, the truth has come out and while the world of luxury is known for such cover-ups, it still gives one enough evidence to think twice before making their next purchase.
More than 60 Pakistani Umrah pilgrims are still stuck at a Saudi airport for the second straight day. The pilgrims were supposed to return to Pakistan on a Saudi airline flight, but due to mismanagement by the airline, they missed their flight.
The stranded travellers said the airline staff gave no clear instructions or help. “No one has helped us despite waiting for hours in the lounge. We have been stuck here for two days,” one of the pilgrims told local media.
The group remains in the airport lounge without food or proper support and no alternate arrangements have been made so far. They also said there has been no proper communication from the airline, which has added to their distress.
A representative from the Pakistani embassy in Saudi Arabia has met with the group and collected their information. However, the pilgrims said that even after sharing their details, no solid steps have been taken to send them back home.
Sources believe the problem happened due to some issues with flight management procedures. But there has been no official explanation from the airline or airport authorities to confirm this.
So far, all efforts to arrange the pilgrims’ return have failed. This has raised serious concerns about poor coordination between the airline and Pakistan’s diplomatic offices in Saudi Arabia.
As of Monday evening, the pilgrims were still at the airport without any confirmed flight. They are calling on both the airline and the Pakistani embassy to act quickly and arrange their return.
Neither the Ministry of Religious Affairs nor the Foreign Office has made any official statement on this issue yet. The situation has caused frustration and discomfort for the pilgrims, who had completed their religious duties and were now hoping for immediate action to help them get home safely.

In light of environmental concerns over possible gas emissions, authorities on Tuesday reignited the Korangi fire, hours after it was extinguished, following a continuous 17-day burn.
The fire had first started on March 29 and kept burning non-stop despite several efforts by the fire brigade to put it out. Water could not control the fire and because of the seriousness of the situation, authorities had declared an emergency.
The Sindh government stayed in contact with all the concerned departments and monitored the situation every day. Due to the fire’s unusual behaviour and intensity, the Ministry of Energy formed a special investigative committee. This committee included experts from the Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL), Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) and Pak Refinery Limited (PRL).
According to an earlier report, American experts were also called in to assess the situation. The Petroleum Ministry hired a US company after the Chief Secretary of Sindh personally intervened. A spokesperson from the Chief Secretary’s office said, “Technical teams of the Pakistan Petroleum and the UEPL jointly visited and inspected the affected area.”
Current Situation of the Site
The spokesperson also confirmed that the team of experts, which included drilling and safety specialists, checked the site and observed the fire’s severity. They noted that the hole at the site had gotten bigger over time and hot water was being released from it. “The experts are consulting over a strategy to fill the well with cement,” the spokesperson added.
Despite being a local issue, the fire drew national and international attention because of how long it burned and the mystery around it. The combined efforts of national teams and foreign consultants finally led to the fire being extinguished.
Now, experts are working on long-term solutions, and the possibility of filling the affected site with cement is being considered to avoid any future hazards.

Meta faces trial in Washington over claims that it created an illegal monopoly in social media. The U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC) says Meta used billions of dollars to buy Instagram and WhatsApp to remove potential competitors and stay on top. The FTC filed the case in 2020 during President Donald Trump’s first term. Now, it wants Meta to either restructure its business or sell off Instagram and WhatsApp.
Meta’s Chief Legal Officer Jennifer Newstead called the case weak and harmful to tech growth. In a blog post, she wrote, “It’s absurd that the FTC is trying to break up a great American company at the same time the Administration is trying to save Chinese-owned TikTok.”
The trial is very important for Meta’s future. Experts say Instagram brings in about half of Meta’s U.S. ad money. The case also gives a first look at how serious the new Trump administration is about taking action against large tech companies. Meta has tried to stay close to Trump, dropping content rules that Republicans said were unfair and giving $1 million to his inauguration. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has also visited the White House several times recently.
FTC spokesperson Joe Simonson said, “The Trump-Vance FTC could not be more ready for this trial,” adding that the agency has some of the best lawyers working day and night.
Zuckerberg is Expected to Speak During the Trial
He will likely be asked about emails where he talked about buying Instagram to remove it as a threat and worrying that WhatsApp might grow into a full social network.
Meta says its purchase of Instagram in 2012 and WhatsApp in 2014 helped users and that old emails don’t matter now, especially with strong competition from TikTok, YouTube, and Apple’s messaging services. Meta will use traffic increases during TikTok’s temporary U.S. ban as proof that users do see the apps as interchangeable.
The FTC disagrees, saying Meta still controls the platforms where people share content with friends and family. Its U.S. competitors are Snapchat and a small app called MeWe. Apps like TikTok, YouTube, X (formerly Twitter), and Reddit are for broadcasting to strangers, not personal sharing, the FTC says.
In a past ruling, U.S. District Judge James Boasberg said the FTC had enough evidence to go to trial but would face hard questions.
The trial is set to continue until July. If the FTC wins, it will need a second trial to show that breaking up Meta would actually fix the competition problem. Losing Instagram would hit Meta hard financially. While Meta doesn’t share revenue per app, research firm Emarketer predicted that Instagram would earn $37.13 billion this year—over half of Meta’s U.S. ad income. Instagram also earns more money per user than any other social platform.
WhatsApp makes less money now but is Meta’s most-used app. It is becoming more profitable through business tools like chatbots. Zuckerberg believes this “business messaging” could drive future growth for the company.
This case is one of five major lawsuits where the FTC and U.S. Justice Department are accusing big tech companies of holding illegal monopolies.

As climate change continues to intensify, there is a surge in frequent and severe heatwave in Pakistan. These extreme temperature events are not just uncomfortable but also pose serious health risks. The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast that daytime temperatures in parts of the country could rise to between 46°C and 48°C due to a high-pressure system developing over the upper atmosphere.
This is concerning, and therefore health professionals and experts have urged citizens to adopt heat-conscious practices to protect themselves from soaring temperatures.
Regions That Will Be Affected By Heatwave
According to predictions, these elevated temperatures will be affecting southern Punjab, Sindh and Balochistan from 13th to 18th April. There will be highs of 46°C in Dadu, 45°C in Nawabshah, and 43°C in Hyderabad and Sukkur.
Karachi is also forecasted to experience hot and humid weather. The daytime temperature will be around 36°C. Some central Punjab cities including Multan, D.G. Khan and Sargodha are expected to record temperatures around 40°C. On the other hand, Lahore is predicted to reach 37°C. The absurd part is that Northern regions like Islamabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan will also experience temperatures 4°C to 6°C above normal.
It is very important for all civilians to stay safe from the upcoming heatwave. Here are some practical and smart ways to protect yourself:
1. Stay Hydrated
Drink plenty of water throughout the day—even if you don’t feel thirsty. And most importantly, you must avoid caffeine and sugary drinks as they will only lead to further dehydration. That is the last thing we want!
Volunteers distribute cold drinks at a heat wave relief camp on May 31 in Lahore, Pakistan.
2. Avoid the Sun During Peak Hours (especially between 11 AM – 4 PM)
Try to stay indoors between 11 AM and 4 PM as the sun’s rays are the strongest in these hours. If there is a requirement, then ensure you wear a wide-brimmed hat, sunglasses, and apply sunscreen.
Avoid the Sun During Peak Hours
3. Wear Light and Breathable Clothing
This is very important and even government authorities have urged us to choose wisely what to wear. Opt for light-colored, breathable fabrics like cotton. This is important because loose clothing allows air to circulate and helps the body stay cool. Forget your fashion priorities for a while!
Wear Light and Breathable Clothing
4. Use Fans, Coolers, or Air Conditioning
Keep your living space cool using fans or air conditioners. Designate one room in your home as a “cool zone” with fans, curtains, and minimal sunlight exposure. If these are not available, take cool showers and keep windows open during cooler evening hours for ventilation. Damp towels and cold packs should also be used to help lower body temperature.
Use Fans, Coolers, or Air Conditioning
Possible Causes of Heatwaves in Pakistan
Every summer, there is a news of a heatwave. But why? Why are heatwaves so common? What are the factors that are contributing to the increasing frequency and intensity of heatwaves in the country? Here is a gist.
The on-going and still ignored climate crisis. Instead of complying to eco friendly habits, Pakistan’s pollution rate is only increasing day by day. Which is an invite to more and more global warming.
There were alot of schemes regarding afforestation but very few were put into effect. This in addition to the disastrous deforestation with no check and balance is reducing the natural cooling of the environment. Look around, is the number of trees in our urban cities the same as before? Absolutely not.
It is like Pakistan has some water shortage curse and no one seems to care about it. At least not the ones who have the power to. The decreased water availability is only exacerbating the stress on communities during hot periods.
Government and Community Measures
While personal precautions are essential, the role of government and community organizations in heatwave preparedness cannot be ignored. The NDMA (National Disaster Management Authority) and provincial authorities often release alerts and set up heatwave relief camps. It is very important for us to comply to these.
Moreover, in the future awareness campaigns, tree plantation drives and improved access to clean drinking water can significantly reduce the impact of heatwave in Pakistan. A far fetched but efficient proposal.

“We are Still in Contact:” Nidal Ahmed Breaks Silence On Onijah
Nidal Ahmed, the teenager at the centre of the viral story involving American woman Onijah Andrew Robinson, has spoken publicly for the first time. In an interview with a YouTube channel, the 19-year-old said he had known Onijah for over two and a half years. He clarified that he never left Karachi and was always in the city. Nidal Ahmed Breaks Silence On Onijah Robinson.
Nidal said he had been in a relationship with Onijah and they had been in regular contact for more than two years. He added that her decision to come to Pakistan was her own. “She lived in Pakistan for three months and stayed at a hotel. During that time, my family and I were in regular contact with her. She even went shopping with my mother and sisters, they’re still in touch,”he said.
Nidal denied rumours that he had abandoned her. He said, “I have heard people say I left or cheated on her, but that’s not true. We still talk. There’s not a single video where she says I abandoned her.” He also blamed the media for spreading false information. “The media blew things out of proportion without checking the facts,”he stated.
When asked about rumours of marriage, Nidal said, “We are not married. I don’t know why Onijah is saying that.” He ended the interview by saying, “Like any couple, we love each other. Every relationship has its ups and downs. We’re working on different projects and people will see us together again soon.”
Onijah, 33, came to Karachi on October 11, hoping to marry Nidal Memon, whom she had met online. Her plans fell apart after his family refused the marriage and he went missing. Despite several efforts to send her back, Onijah refused to leave and kept visiting his house to find him. Her story quickly went viral and attracted attention on social media and news platforms.

Thousands March in Karachi in Solidarity with Palestine
The people of Pakistan have always stood up for what they think is right and wrong. This time, too, the nation proved that it will always stand up to injustice. Just yesterday, on April 13th, thousands of Karachi residents gathered on the city’s main roads for a Gaza solidarity march. The march in Karachi was organised by two religio-political parties. It was done to express solidarity amid Israel’s bloody military conduct.
The Palestinian Crisis
The whole world by now knows about the atrocities being carried out in Gaza. The war, which began on October 7th 2023, has killed more than 50,000 Palestinians and destroyed much of the housing and hospital infrastructure in the enclave.
This was originally a supposed “defense attack” after Hamas’s unprecedented attack on Israeli territory. However, the Palestinian residents later bore the consequences, and the bloodshed that followed was the most severe genocide ever carried out in the history of mankind. Since then, large protests have been carried out throughout the globe in solidarity with the Palestinians.
The recent march on Shahra-e-Faisal also came two days after large pro-Palestinian protests were observed in cities across Pakistan.
The rallies were organised by the Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) and the Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) on main Shahra-e-Faisal and Sharah-i-Quaideen, respectively. People from all walks of life attended these demonstrations, including representative bodies of lawyers, teachers, traders, doctors and other professionals.
JI and JUI Announce Mass Mobilisation
The JI leader, Hafiz Naeem, delivered an address to the crowd at Shahrah-e-Faisal and said that Karachi had “once again proved that it represents the entire Muslim world… the people of Gaza are facing unbearable pain, around 70,000 people were killed in Gaza, [a] significant majority among them were women and children.”He also stated that the role of the United Nations has vanished. While Israel was blowing apart innocent children with ruthless bombings, the UN was passing useless resolutions and statements.
The JI chief also warned Muslim world leaders, stating that Israel will surely come after them once it is finished with its campaign in Gaza. Hence, he demanded that Pakistan’s political leadership “take the lead in global measures” and urged them to “invite all like-minded people to a single platform to devise a joint global strategy” against Israel.
Other Leaders Also Addressed the Rally
Similarly, JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman also addressed a massive rally at Shahrah-e-Quaideen. Here, he announced a “Million March” at Lahore’s Minar-e-Pakistan on April 27.
“Today’s march is not the end but the beginning,” Fazl declared. “This movement will continue. There will be a children’s march, followed by the largest march in Pakistan’s history in Multan on April 18 and in Islamabad on April 20.”The leader also called support for Gaza “a collective obligation” and emphasised the moral, diplomatic, and all other forms of backing the besieged population must receive.
Members of a civil society group hold a demonstration against Israeli airstrikes and to show solidarity with Palestinian people living in Gaza.
The rally venues were decorated with Palestinian flags as thousands chanted slogans against Israel.
The world is protesting, and Pakistani people are no different. Yet, the million dollar question still remains: How long until these protests will bear fruit and a permanent ceasefire will be placed?

Saturday Night Live Spoofs White Lotus with Trump Family in the White Potus
Saturday Night Live came back swinging this week with a crazy, Trump-themed spoof of HBO’s The White Lotus called “The White POTUS.” With season three of The White Lotus still in the minds of fans, SNL recast the drama of the Ratliff family as the Trump family, and chaos ensued quickly.
Melania Meets the Southern Belle
James Austin Johnson spearheaded the line-up as Donald Trump, resplendent in Jason Isaacs’ brooding presence, with Chloe Fineman inhabiting Melania as a Southern-accented, emotionally bereft wife, riffing ridiculously off Parker Posey’s character. “Hun? Donald? Earth to Donald,” she purrs, aping Posey’s panache, as Trump gapes off into political oblivion.
Source: Vanity Fair
Scarlett Johansson appeared unexpectedly as a cringy upscale Ivanka Trump, and Alex Moffat again played a spaced-out Eric Trump. Mikey Day played Don Jr., aping the entitled-but-dim vibe of Saxon from The White Lotus, including a gasp-inducing romantic twist: a bedroom scene with Kenan Thompson as Tiger Woods, who is seeing Don Jr.’s actual ex-wife. Yikes, SNL went there.
Politics Gets the White Lotus Treatment
The sketch didn’t end there at family drama. Jon Hamm leapt in as Robert F. Kennedy Jr., spoofing Walton Goggins’ part with anti-vax swagger, and Sarah Sherman kept pace with the show’s inimitable awkward vibe as Chelsea. Musical guest Lizzo aced Natasha Rothwell’s Belinda, infusing the character with sass and soul when she yelled, “These old white Trump dudes are trying to ruin my life!” after her net worth plummeted.
With Heidi Gardner playing Kristi Noem, Ashley Padilla as Pam Bondi, and Marcello Hernández as a straight-faced Marco Rubio, SNL ensured the whole MAGA team checked into this high-end hotel of disaster.
The sketch cleverly mirrored The White Lotus’s themes of privilege, oblivion, and moral decay—only this time with America’s most controversial political family at its centre. Whether you’re laughing at the absurdity of Don Jr.’s love life or the line, “Trump Triggers Worldwide Recession,” the parody hit all the right notes.
It was a fever dream of pop culture and politics, once again demonstrating that no one eviscerates power quite as well as SNL. In “The White POTUS,” they didn’t merely mock HBO—they made it strangely presidential.”

Influencers Sona Rafiq and Taha Dawat were the social media power couple. Their photo-perfect life, devoted follower base, and fairy-tale wedding photos made them invincible. However, recently, fans noticed that the couple had stopped following each other, leading to rumours.
Fans Speculate Sona Rafiq and Taha Dawat are No Longer Together
What Went Wrong?
As per close sources to the couple, their relationship began to experience problems earlier this year. Although both remained tight-lipped about the matter, observant fans picked up on the lack of couple content on their Instagram. Taha’s solo vacations and Sona’s mysterious captions fueled the fire. One user wrote, “They stopped commenting on each other’s posts months ago. Something’s off.”
Silent Unfollows and Public Clues
Social media always leaves breadcrumbs. The followers saw that Sona had unfollowed Taha on Instagram and vice versa. Their public displays of affection suddenly vanished. Both removed several old photos together, which made followers think something serious had occurred. Although neither made an official statement at first, their online actions were louder than words. This digital cold war became the unofficial confirmation of their breakup.
Did Fame Destroy their Marriage?
With fame comes pressure. Sona and Taha’s rise to fame brought them hundreds of brand opportunities and public outings. But popularity isn’t without its downsides. Many felt the constant online exposure placed extra strain on their relationship. As per sources, they also hinted at professional jealousy and content creation disputes as reasons for their breakup. Although these allegations are unfounded, the timing does coincide with their waning collaborative content.
Fans React with Mixed Emotions
The couple’s fans were devastated by the rumours. Some of them still hold out hope for a reunion, but others think it’s for the best. One of the fans wrote on Twitter, “Sometimes letting go is the healthiest option. Wishing them peace.”
The news also generated arguments on whether social media couples need to share every aspect of their lives with the world. After all, not every happy selfie tells the true tale.
Both Taha and Sona have so far opted for silence rather than words. Sona, however, just posted a solo image with the caption, “Healing isn’t easy, but necessary.” While Taha posted a motivational quote on “starting over,”
These cryptic messages point toward emotional shifts. While no explicit confirmation has been released, it’s apparent that their relationship has undergone a dramatic shift.
Sona Rafiq and Taha Dawat’s alleged breakup is a harsh reminder that all that glitters isn’t gold. Relationships, however glamorous they appear on TV, have complexities we don’t get to see. This breakup isn’t merely celebrity news, it’s an opportunity for us all to learn about privacy, pressure, and personal development. As admirers, the most we can do is understand, give them space and hope for what’s best for both of them.

PSL 10: Two New Players Added to Karachi King Squad
The Karachi Kings have made two key adjustments due to injuries and player absences in its PSL 10 squad. The team announced the addition of Australian wicketkeeper-batsman Ben McDermott and Pakistan’s emerging batting prospect Saad Baig as replacements for Liton Das and Kane Williamson, respectively.
Injuries Force Changes
Bangladesh’s Liton Das, much expected to leave his mark in the PSL, has been ruled out of the whole tournament following a finger injury sustained in a practice session. Scans indicated a hairline fracture that will keep him out for a minimum of two weeks—effectively ending his PSL stint before it could start.
Source: Cric Today
Liton’s Heartbreak
“I was really looking forward to playing in the PSL for Karachi Kings, but the Almighty had some other intentions… So, unfortunately, my PSL campaign is over before it has even started.”
He appreciated the fans’ support and wished for the Kings’ success, asking them to pray for him as he goes back to Bangladesh to recover.
In Liton’s absence, the Kings have signed Ben McDermott, the veteran Australian wicketkeeper-batter with his big-hitting T20 prowess. McDermott has significant international experience, with appearances in many leagues, such as the Big Bash and The Hundred.
Saad Baig, a young Pakistani batter, has been brought in as short-term cover for Kane Williamson, who will miss the first few games of the tournament due to personal reasons. Saad’s inclusion provides an opportunity for local talent to make an impact on the big stage, as the Kings try to balance their overseas and local line-up.
Kane Williamson will miss the first few games of PSL
High Stakes against Multan
Karachi Kings beat Multan Sultans in their opening match at the National Bank Stadium, Karachi. Without Liton and Williamson, the reorganised team will be under pressure to provide early victories in a highly competitive season.
PSL 10: Already Drama-Filled
Elsewhere, Islamabad United also suffered a last-minute blow as Alex Carey chose to opt out of the tournament due to domestic commitments, contributing to a pre-season reshuffle among franchises.
As the curtain goes up on PSL 10, one thing is certain: depth, flexibility, and management of the squad might be the formula for hoisting the trophy this season. For the Karachi Kings, the McDermott-Baig combination might end up being trump cards.

Australian MMA Star Alexander Volkanovski Cements Legacy with a Championship Comeback at UFC 314
By the age of 35, most fighters tire, but Alexander Volkanovski drove harder on the pedal. At UFC 314 in Miami in a high-pressure faceoff, “The Great” cemented his case as one of the all-time greats by dominating Brazilian starlet Diego Lopes via unanimous decision to reclaim the featherweight championship. The scores—48-47, 49-46, 49-46—were testament to a lesson in patience, precision, and power.
A Legacy Reborn
Volkanovski wasn’t merely fighting Lopes—he was fighting the demons of consecutive knockout defeats and retirement rumours. However, rather than disappearing into the night, he came back sharper and calmer than ever. With Ilia Topuria relinquishing the belt, the Aussie didn’t merely take an opportunity—he solidified a legacy.
Source: Mundo Deportivo
No previous champion above 35 had ever regained UFC gold before. Volkanovski broke that ceiling with intent.
Tactical Brilliance in Every Round
The fight opened with Volkanovski’s signature leg kicks, disrupting Lopes’s rhythm early. Though Lopes answered back, it was clear the Australian had come prepared to dissect rather than dominate recklessly.
The tide turned in Round 1 when Volkanovski rocked Lopes with a left hand and secured a takedown before the buzzer. From there, he dictated the pace—stinging with jabs, controlling clinches, and forcing the younger fighter into a reactive state.
Even when Lopes landed a surprise knockdown late in Round 2, Volkanovski’s resolve didn’t crack. Instead, he returned in Round 3 with cleaner strikes and ring generalship that only a seasoned veteran could summon.
Lopes had his moments—particularly in the fifth, when a clean shot to Volkanovski’s chin briefly staggered the champ—but the Brazilian fighter couldn’t finish the job. Volkanovski’s experience and conditioning prevailed, slipping out of danger, then closing the bout with a furious flurry at the center of the Octagon. Miami roared in appreciation—not just for the winner but for the war.
Source: Breaking News
The Return of “The Great”
Following the battle, Volkanovski declared adversity “a gift,” and on Saturday evening, he reaffirmed it. From doubt in himself to champion of the world once more, this wasn’t a comeback – it was a resurrection.
At 145 pounds, Australia now has its own monarch. With Alexander Volkanovski, the UFC possesses a champion unwilling to let great things escape him.

Katy Perry is Going to Space…and Maybe You Can Too
Singer and songwriter Katy Perry is now prepared to bless the space with her presence. Who says female icons can’t do it all? They run the world, and now it appears they are taking on space, too!
Katy Perry and the Girls in Space
On Monday morning, pop star Katy Perry will be starting her journey to space. Accompanying her will be some other prominent females, too. This includes Lauren Sánchez (fiancée of Jeff Bezos), Gayle King (journalist and TV presenter), Amanda Nguyen (civil rights activist), Kerrianne Flynn (producer) and Aisha Bowe (former NASA rocket scientist). Whether these women come from entertainment, entrepreneurship, or engineering, there is no doubt that each of them has forged her own path to success while inspiring others along the way. Now, they are preparing to make history on Blue Origin’s all-women space mission- the first all-female crew in space since 1963.
“Space is going to finally be glam,”Perry told Elle magazine. “We are going to put the ‘ass’ in astronaut,” Perry added.
This journey is making waves on social media because it marks the first all-women suborbital mission for Blue Origin (Jeff Bezos’s spaceflight company) as well as the first flight to space in over 60 years without a man on board. It’s a milestone moment in space tourism and puts this frontier on bucket lists of travellers who, for now, can afford it.
The entire trip is only expected to last 11 minutes, and the women will be going up in a rocket that flies itself, allowing each of them to enjoy the flight as passengers. Once they reach space, they’ll be able to float around the rocket, experiencing weightlessness and looking out the windows at the universe and Earth below for about four minutes before coming back down. Oh, and don’t worry, they have been briefed about all this!
Maybe You Can Go Too!
Now the question that arises here is that, how can we non-celebrities go (if we can, that is? ) Well, if budget is not a problem then you too can go visit the space too. But with a few caveats.
A handful of companies are making it (semi) accessible to regular people with deep pockets and a thirst for the extraordinary. These include:
Virgin Galactic
Richard Branson’s Virgin Galactic is offering one of the most amazing ways for normal people to explore space. Their suborbital flights take you about 80 km above Earth, where you’ll experience a few minutes of zero gravity and catch a view of our planet’s curvature before gently gliding back to the runway. The full experience lasts around 90 minutes, and a seat will cost you $600,000.
SpaceX
Anyone who is not living under a rock these days will know how Elon Musk’s SpaceX is THE ride. In 2021, the company made headlines when it launched four civilians into Earth’s orbit aboard a Falcon 9 rocket, completing the first all-civilian orbital mission. The cost? $220 million, reportedly covered by billionaire Jared Isaacman.
Blue Origin
Among the most high-profile names in commercial spaceflight, Blue Origin, which offers a short-but-spectacular journey aboard its New Shepard rocket, which is what Katy Perry and her “girlies” will be travelling on. In this flight, people will travel 100 km above Earth, crossing the Kármán line and enjoying a few minutes of weightlessness. Their first passenger mission was launched in July 2021, with seats said to be priced between $250,000 to $300,000.
Axiom Space
Taking luxury travel to an entirely new level, Axiom Space is organising private missions to the International Space Station. In this mission, the people on board will orbit Earth in a SpaceX capsule and live aboard the ISS. Axiom is also working on building the world’s first commercial space station and has even collaborated with NASA on lunar spacesuits. The price for this interstellar adventure? A hefty $55 million per person. We warned you above, it’s all a game of money!
Let’s wait for Katy Perry and the other ladies to arrive and see how this mission went for them. If it’s successful (which hopefully it will be), then we will surely see a huge group of elites joining the trend.
In this day and age, it seems like anybody can become Neil Armstrong. Thankfully, he isn’t here to watch this unfold.

Kusal Mendis Impressed by PSL’s Pace Power: ‘Fast Bowlers Here Are Next Level!'
It doesn’t take long to spot quality when you’re out in the middle—and Kusal Mendis has already seen enough in just two Pakistan Super League (PSL) games to call it like it is.
The Sri Lankan wicketkeeper-batter, who’s playing in the PSL for the first time, is clearly impressed. Speaking to the media in Rawalpindi, Mendis had nothing but praise for the fast bowling talent in PSL 10.
“I’ve played in the Lanka Premier League and SA20, but this is my first time in the PSL. The fast bowlers here are of high quality,” he said with a smile.
And honestly, he’s not wrong. PSL has built its brand on the back of fierce fast bowling—think Shaheen Afridi, Haris Rauf, Naseem Shah, Mohammad Wasim Jr., and more.
For a foreign batter walking into these conditions, it’s a trial by fire. Mendis, however, seems up for the challenge.
Mendis hit the ground running. In his debut game for Quetta Gladiators, he smashed 35 off just 14 balls* against Peshawar Zalmi, helping his side to a commanding 80-run win. Not bad for a first impression.
In the next match, though, things got a bit tricky. Facing the Lahore Qalandars, Quetta collapsed under pressure.
Mendis did show some early intent, scoring 28 off 14, but fell to a fiery spell by Haris Rauf. Quetta eventually suffered a 79-run loss—a big blow, but not the end of the road.
When asked about the batting-friendly pitches in Pakistan, Mendis was upbeat.
“The conditions here suit batting, and I’ve been working on my power game back in Sri Lanka. It’s exciting to perform in such conditions,” he shared.
He also added that he’s open to any batting position, saying, “In domestic cricket, I’ve batted lower down the order as well. I don’t mind batting at any number, depending on the team’s requirements.”
Two matches in, and Kusal Mendis has shown promise. He’s attacking, confident, and eager to learn. More importantly, he’s blending well in the tournament.

Liverpool needs just six points to win the Premier League title after Virgil van Dijk’s last-minute goal sealed a 2-1 win over West Ham. Luis Diaz’s second-half strike gave Liverpool the lead, but Andrew Robertson’s own goal in the late stages levelled the match. However, Van Dijk’s header in the dying moments secured the win for the Reds. Liverpool is now 13 points clear of second-placed Arsenal with only six games left in the season.
Liverpool will win the Premier League if Arsenal loses to Ipswich and Liverpool beats Leicester, both matches on April 20. Even if the title isn’t secured, Liverpool is likely to clinch the 20th English crown soon.
After a difficult run, which included a 3-2 loss to Fulham, Liverpool bounced back dramatically. Mohamed Salah started the attack in the 18th minute, racing away and setting up Diaz for a simple finish. Despite a poor run of three defeats from their last four games, Liverpool managed to get back on track.
When Van Dijk cleared a cross in the 86th minute, it deflected off Robertson’s foot into the net, but the captain redeemed himself shortly after. Three minutes later, Van Dijk rose highest to score from a corner, putting Liverpool closer to their first Premier League title since 2020.
Meanwhile, Tottenham suffered a heavy 4-2 defeat at Wolves, adding to their tough season. Wolves opened the scoring early, and Tottenham’s goalkeeper made a mistake that led to a second goal. Tottenham fought back with a goal from Mathys Tel, but the Wolves responded quickly with a third and a fourth. Richarlison’s late goal wasn’t enough to stop the defeat.
Tottenham are currently 15th, which could be their worst league finish since 1993-94. Postecoglou’s future is uncertain, with hopes resting on the Europa League. Tottenham plays Eintracht Frankfurt in the second leg of the quarter-final on Thursday.
Wolves now have a 14-point cushion above relegation, while Ipswich is all but relegated, despite drawing 2-2 with Chelsea. Chelsea remains in fifth, hoping to secure a Champions League spot.

Virat Kohli Joins the 100 Club: A T20 Legacy that Keeps Growing
There’s something about Virat Kohli and milestones—they just find each other. In the world of T20 cricket, where careers often flicker like flashbulbs, Kohli continues to burn like a lighthouse.
On a breezy Sunday evening at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, the RCB legend etched another golden chapter in his career. 100 half-centuries in T20 cricket.
With his latest knock against the Rajasthan Royals, Kohli became only the second batter in history to reach the 100-fifty mark in T20s—and the first Indian ever to do so. He crossed the line in his 405th T20 appearance, which speaks volumes about his consistency, longevity, and hunger for runs.
Chasing Warner, Leading Legends
Australia’s David Warner still tops the list with 108 fifties in just 400 matches, but Kohli is right behind, sitting pretty on a round 100. And if there’s one thing we know about Virat, it’s that he loves chasing targets, especially ones set by Australians.
Here’s a quick look at the top dogs in the T20 fifty club:
These are no ordinary names. And Kohli’s right in the mix, if not ahead in impact.
King of IPL, Too
While his T20 stats are stunning, Kohli’s IPL record is another beast altogether. That fifty against the Royals was his 58th in the IPL, taking his overall tally of 50+ scores in the league to 66. With that, he now shares the record for most 50+ scores in IPL history—tied with none other than David Warner.
Let’s break it down:
Virat Kohli (RCB) – 66
David Warner (DC/SRH) – 66
Shikhar Dhawan – 53
Rohit Sharma – 45
KL Rahul – 43
AB de Villiers – 43
What makes Kohli’s numbers even more remarkable? He’s done it all while batting one-down or opening, rarely enjoying the “death overs boost” that some others thrive on. He also has eight IPL centuries to Warner’s four. That’s next-level domination.
Virat Kohli started IPL 2025 with an unbeaten 59 against KKR*. He followed it up with a solid 31 against CSK, a rare failure (7 runs) against Gujarat Titans, but then came storming back with 67 against Mumbai Indians. Most recently, he chipped in with 22 against Delhi Capitals in a low-scoring encounter.

Sohail Tanvir Criticises, Shaheen Afridi Responds with a Statement Spell
Cricket, like life, has a funny way of flipping the script overnight. Just a day ago, former Pakistan pacer Sohail Tanvir was all over the headlines, criticizing Shaheen Shah Afridi and his cricketing smarts.
To be honest, the timing couldn’t have been worse for Shaheen, who had just led Lahore Qalandars to a disappointing defeat in the PSL 10 opener against Islamabad United.
Tanvir, never one to mince his words, didn’t hold back.
“He has everything—pace, swing, skill—but he doesn’t use his brain,” Tanvir said bluntly.
He went on to say that Shaheen lacks game awareness and decision-making, insisting that even the best plans made with coaches are useless if the bowler can’t adapt in the moment.
“You have to read the game. Coaches can guide you, but the final decision is yours. If you don’t counterattack, you’ll get punished,” Tanvir added.
He even praised Shaheen for adding outswing to his arsenal but followed it up with a cutting remark: “He’s not smart enough yet.”
And Then Came the Reply… On the Field.
Less than 24 hours later, Shaheen Afridi let the ball do the talking.
Facing a strong Quetta Gladiators side, the Lahore Qalandars captain led from the front with a fierce spell of fast bowling. He picked up two huge wickets — Saud Shakeel (1) and the dangerous Finn Allen (0) — both inside the powerplay.
Suddenly, that whole “doesn’t use his brain” narrative? Looked a bit shaky.
Afridi’s two overs cost just six runs and effectively derailed Quetta’s chase before it even got going. Lahore went on to thump the Gladiators by 79 runs, marking a massive comeback after their opening loss.
Talent or Tactics — Or Both?
Tanvir’s criticism wasn’t entirely baseless. Shaheen Afridi does have moments where he gets predictable — especially when batters line him up after a couple of overs. But to say he’s not smart enough?
That might be a stretch, especially after the way he turned things around in the very next match.
Cricket fans love a spicy debate, and this one has it all — a former pacer calling out a current star and that star firing back with wickets and a win.
Whether or not Shaheen “uses his brain” enough is still up for discussion, but one thing’s for sure: he’s still learning, evolving, and — when it matters — delivering.

Indian Olympic Website Pays Tribute to Arshad Nadeem
India’s official Olympic Instagram account, @olympickhel, recently paid tribute to Arshad Nadeem by sharing a video that highlights his journey. The caption read: “Why do we fall? So that we can learn to pick ourselves up.”
The video begins with scenes from the Tokyo Olympics 2020 (held in 2021), where Arshad managed to qualify for the final but missed out on a medal. Chopra won gold that year with a throw of 87.58 meters. The video shows Nadeem’s visible disappointment after Tokyo before switching to powerful visuals from Paris 2024, where he celebrated his gold medal win with tears and raised arms.
The post highlighted his perseverance, stating that despite the heartbreak in Tokyo, Nadeem didn’t give up. Instead, he worked hard to stay focused on his dream, and that commitment led him to the podium in Paris.
The video also sheds light on the challenges Nadeem faced. He lacked basic training facilities and had no proper ground to practice on while preparing for Tokyo. Despite limited resources, Nadeem kept pushing forward.
Many countries offered him a chance to switch allegiance and represent them. Still, Nadeem chose to stay loyal to Pakistan. He wore the green flag with pride and made history by becoming an Olympic gold medalist for his country.
Arshad Nadeem Paris, 2024 Olympic gold medalist, continues to inspire with his journey of struggle, resilience and victory. He earned global praise after winning gold in the javelin throw event at the Paris 2024 Olympics. Nadeem not only brought honour to Pakistan but also defeated India’s Neeraj Chopra with a historic 92.97-meter throw, setting a new Olympic record.

Karachi's Runaway Dumper Driver Arrested After Surrender_
Authorities have arrested the runaway dumper driver who hit a vehicle on Shahrah-e-Faisal and fled the scene. The arrest came two days after a viral video showed the dumper speeding away while endangering lives.
Before his arrest, Karachi Traffic Police launched a crackdown on dumpers. They seized 27 vehicles and arrested another driver during the operation. Police also issued challans and heavy fines to 142 dumper drivers under sections 99/113 of the 1965 Motor Vehicles Ordinance.
To trace the suspect, police contacted Dumper Association President Liaquat Mehsud and other members. Although they promised to cooperate, they failed to hand over the driver or the vehicle. As a result, police intensified the crackdown and announced that they would continue until they caught the driver.
In his initial statement, the runaway dumper driver claimed, “I was being followed by motorcyclists and feared they would set my vehicle on fire, so I fled.”
The incident adds to a rising trend of road accidents in Karachi. Over 250 people have died in traffic accidents this year alone. At least 70 of these deaths involved heavy vehicles such as dumpers, trailers, and water tankers. Public anger has grown in response. In one incident last week, residents of North Karachi set several dumper trucks on fire after a dumper killed two motorcyclists.
On Sunday, a similar situation unfolded near Disco Bakery in Gulshan-e-Iqbal. A car accident caused one death, and a mob set the vehicle on fire. Police arrested the driver, his three passengers, and several people who torched the car.
Due to the rising number of incidents, the Sindh government banned the daytime movement of heavy vehicles. It also imposed a 30 km/h speed limit for all heavy transport vehicles (HTVs) in Karachi.
Despite these measures, reckless driving continues. Early Sunday morning, a car reportedly involved in high-speed drifting lost control at Sea View. The vehicle flipped and landed in the sea. Rescue 1122 retrieved the car, and Darakhshan SHO Shahid Taj said police had summoned the owner for questioning.
