After Allah, Pakistan Relies on its Own Power: DG ISPR

After Allah, Pakistan Relies on its own Power: DG ISPR

DG ISPR Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry has clearly stated that Pakistan depends on its own strength and will. Speaking to China’s CGTN, he said, “The most important thing is Pakistan’s resolve and its own strength. After Allah, we rely on ourselves and our own power. So only if we are resolute and have a strong commitment, which we have already shown [in the recent powerful response to Indian aggression], the international community will also play its complete role.”

He pointed out that the world today faces bigger problems like climate change, misinformation and growing populations. In this context, he questioned India’s attempt to dominate others without evidence. “In such a situation, should a country try to impose hegemony on other countries around it on the basis of a false narrative, for no reason and without any evidence?”

Military Response and Casualties

After India’s continued unprovoked aggression, Pakistan responded with Operation Bunyan-um-Marsoos” on May 10, targeting several Indian military sites. The operation, described as “precise and proportionate,” came after New Delhi blamed Pakistan for an attack in IIOJK that killed 26 tourists. No evidence was provided.

Pakistan downed six Indian fighter jets, including three Rafale and dozens of drones. A ceasefire was reached after 87 hours with the help of the United States. According to ISPR, 53 Pakistanis — 13 armed forces personnel and 40 civilians — were martyred in the Indian strikes.

Lt Gen Chaudhry said, “The Pakistani nation, we have never bowed down nor ever will. Because I have said it before and will say it again — for us, the wish to embrace martyrdom is more beloved than living.”

Commitment to Peace and Cooperation

He emphasised Pakistan and China’s shared focus on peace, saying, “The prosperity and well-being of the people come from peace and stability.” He called terrorism a major hurdle in progress and said, “We are making efforts against it, on our own and with the help of our friends.”

On internal security, he concluded, “We now have to turn this iron wall [Bunyan-um-Marsoos] — that includes the people, armed forces and all elements of national power — towards the menace of terrorism.”

Pakistan Unlikely to Spot Zil Hajj Moon on May 27

Pakistan Unlikely to Spot Zil Hajj Moon on May 27
Pakistan Unlikely to Spot Zil Hajj Moon on May 27

World-renowned astronomers have expressed that the moon for the month of Zil-Hajj in Islam will not be observable on May 27 in Pakistan. Astronomer Dr. Faheem Hashmi reported that the new moon will not be visible on that evening. He clarified, The moon will be just 11 hours old when it rises at sunset—a time that is deemed too young to be visible to the naked eye.”

This indicates that Zil-Hajj can begin on May 29. According to this, Eid-ul-Adha is bound to be celebrated on June 7. This will, however, be subject to the official announcement made by the moon sighting committee.

Dr. Faheem Hashmi also stated that the moon will probably be visible on May 28 rather than 27. He added, “The moon will be over 35 hours on May 28.” This raises the hopes of the moon being visible, and thus Zil-Hajj will probably start on May 29. Hence, Eid-ul-Azha may be celebrated on Saturday, June 7.

These words of Dr. Hashmi indicate a high likelihood that Eid-ul-Adha will not fall on June 6, as was previously presumed by some. Rather, owing to the moon’s age, there are greater chances that the day of Eid will be June 7.

The last dates, however, will be ascertained by the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee after sighting of the moon in the country. In the meantime, such predictions by experts such as Dr. Faheem Hashmi provide an approximate idea of the lunar calendar.

These are crucial remarks for individuals who are getting ready to observe Eid-ul-Adha, especially those organising Qurbani and travel bookings. Nevertheless, it will be confirmed later through the official channels once the committee sits and gathers evidence from moon sightings from all over Pakistan.

After India Suspends Indus Water Treaty, China Fast-Tracks Mohmand Dam in Pakistan

After India Suspends Indus Water Treaty, China Fast-Tracks Mohmand Dam in Pakistan
After India Suspends Indus Water Treaty, China Fast-Tracks Mohmand Dam in Pakistan

The past month has been quite intense politically for both Pakistan and India. After the Pahalgam Attack on 22 April, India retaliated by suspending the Indus Water Treaty as the country blamed Pakistan for the deadly terrorist attack, which killed 26 people in Indian Illegally Occupied Kashmir. India, despite having no evidence against Pakistan, threatened to stop its water supply, affecting millions of civilians. Following this, the two countries have had a military standoff, which has affected the armed forces as well as civilians.

Even though the tensions have cooled down for now, thanks to US President Donald Trump, the threat of water constantly looms over Pakistan’s head. While India will need significant infrastructure to stop water flowing to Pakistan, in the short run, this means that India is no longer obliged to adhere to the outlines of the treaty, like sharing hydrological data, which is crucial for flood forecasting and planning for irrigation, hydropower, and drinking water. The treaty in the long run will cause a shortage of water and also affect the agriculture of Pakistan.

China Responds with Fast-tracking the Mohmand Dam.

China has long been a trustworthy ally to Pakistan. After the illegal suspension of the Indus Water Treaty, China has announced plans to accelerate work on a “flagship”  Mohmand dam in Pakistan to ease pressure related to water. The dam was originally planned to be completed in 2026 by the China Energy Engineering in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa; however, in light of recent tension between Pakistan and India, China has taken the much-needed step to accelerate the building process.

On Saturday, Chinese Broadcaster CCTV reported that one of the major steps in completion of the dam, concrete filling, has commenced. It is being described as a “critical construction milestone” which officially marks the fast-tracking of the national flagship project of Pakistan.

The main aim of the Mohmand Dam, being constructed over the Swat River, is to mitigate flood risks, irrigated agricultural land of over 16,737 acres, generate hydropower, and economically uplift Pakistan’s economy. Given the recent times, the timely construction of the dam has become even more important.

Navy Stopped Threat From Indian Aircraft Carrier_ Shehbaz Sharif

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif arrived in Karachi on Monday to appreciate the Pakistan Navy’s efforts. During his visit to the Pakistan Naval Dockyard, naval officials briefed the prime minister on the navy’s strategy. They also discussed its operations and role in the recent conflict.

The prime minister praised the navy for its strong defence at sea. He said it had protected the country’s sea routes through a solid, layered defence system. He also added that the navy was fully prepared and hence would have given a powerful response if India had attacked from the sea.

While speaking to naval officers, PM Shehbaz said, “Indian Navy’s (aircraft carrier) Vikrant came close to Pakistan, about 400 nautical miles away. But after taking heavy losses from the Pakistan Air Force and Pakistan Army elsewhere, Vikrant pulled back, knowing the Pakistan Navy was ready to strike back with full force.”

He spoke about the navy’s history of successful operations. He said, “Strong coordination among the armed forces is a golden chapter in the country’s history.” Sharif recalled the 1965 ‘Operation Dwarka,’ highlighting that the navy still has the strength to carry out similar high-level missions whenever needed.

The Prime Minister stated that ground troops contributed significantly to the recent conflict by accurately striking enemy targets with Fatah missiles and other weapons. He commended the navy for its vigilance, skill, and ability to defend against maritime threats. He also acknowledged the navy’s efforts in maintaining the security of maritime trade routes throughout the conflict.

“I congratulate Pakistan Navy for the achievements it achieved over the past 15 years with indigenous technology,” he said.

PM Shehbaz made it clear that Pakistan is ready to give a stronger reply if India violates the ceasefire again.

Final Destination: Bloodlines Opens to Franchise-Best $100M+ at the Box Office

Warner Bros.’ supernatural horror-thriller Final Destination: Bloodlines dominated the box office this weekend, earning a massive $51 million in its domestic debut. Released on May 16, Bloodlines marks the sixth installment in the popular horror series.

It scored a franchise-best U.S. opening and pushed its global earnings to $102 million, according to industry analysts. For comparison, Final Destination 5 opened to $18 million in 2011, not adjusted for inflation, making the new film’s performance a significant milestone.

Critics and Fans Applaud the Revival

Directed by Adam Stein and Zach Lipovsky, the film earned praise from both critics and fans. The story follows Kaitlyn Santa Juana’s character, a young woman who learns her grandmother once cheated death and saved many lives.

But her discovery brings terrifying consequences, as death begins to reclaim its missed victims. The film stars Kaitlyn Santa Juana alongside Teo Briones, Richard Harmon, Owen Patrick Joyner, Anna Lore, Tony Todd, Gabrielle Rose, Brec Bassinger and Max Lloyd-Jones.

Final Destination: Bloodlines continues a hot streak for Warner Bros., following the success of Ryan Coogler’s Sinners. That film added $15.4 million over the weekend, bringing its North American total to $240 million and pushing its global gross to $316.8 million.

Israel Will ‘Take Control of All’ of Gaza Strip: PM Netanyahu

' of Gaza Strip: PM Netanyahu

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that Israel would “take control” of the entire Gaza Strip. His statement came as the Israeli military continued its intensified campaign in the war-torn region.

Netanyahu, in a Telegram video, stated, “The fighting is intense, and we are making progress. We will take control of all the territory of the Strip. We will not give up. But in order to succeed, we must act in a way that cannot be stopped.”

Food Aid and International Pressure

Israel recently agreed to allow a “basic amount” of food into Gaza. Netanyahu explained that preventing famine was important for “practical and diplomatic reasons,” noting that even Israel’s allies would not tolerate “images of mass starvation.”

The blockade, imposed on March 2, aimed to pressure Hamas. However, the UN and NGOs warned that the blockade caused critical shortages of food, clean water, fuel, and medicine. A recent report from the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification stated that 22% of Gaza’s population faces an imminent humanitarian catastrophe.

Global Reactions and Statements

World Health Organisation (WHO) Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus warned that two million people in Gaza are starving. He blamed the worsening food crisis on the continued blockage of humanitarian aid. “Two months into the latest blockade, two million people are starving,” Tedros said. He highlighted that 160,000 metric tonnes of food sit just minutes from Gaza’s border, unable to enter.

Last week, former U.S. President Donald Trump said, “A lot of people are starving. We’re going to get that taken care of.” Pope Leo XIV also called attention to the crisis, saying, “In Gaza, the surviving children, families, and elderly are reduced to starvation.”

Meanwhile, Israel’s National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir criticized Netanyahu’s decision. He said on X, “The Prime Minister is making a serious mistake… Hamas must only be crushed, not given oxygen for survival.”

Military Campaign and Negotiations

On Monday, the Israeli military said its air force struck 160 terror targets in Gaza. The ongoing campaign aims to free hostages and defeat Hamas. Indirect talks in Qatar continue, with Steve Witkoff acting as the U.S. envoy. Any deal would include hostage releases, Hamas exile, and Gaza’s disarmament.

Airstrikes killed at least 22 people across Gaza, including 11 in Khan Yunis. Civil defense reported heavy casualties and destroyed homes. “All my family members are gone,” said Warda al-Shaer. “The children were killed, their parents, and even my mother.”

The Gaza health ministry reported 3,193 deaths since March 18, with a total death toll of 53,339. Hamas’s October 2023 attack killed 1,218 people in Israel and took 251 hostages, 57 of whom remain in Gaza—34 presumed dead.

WHO Warns Two Million People are Starving in Gaza

WHO Warns Two Million Starving in Gaza

World Health Organisation (WHO) Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus warned that two million people in Gaza are starving. He blamed the worsening food crisis on the continued blockage of humanitarian aid. “Two months into the latest blockade, two million people are starving,” Tedros said. He highlighted that 160,000 metric tonnes of food sit just minutes from Gaza’s border, unable to enter.

Tedros spoke at the World Health Assembly’s opening session. He said the WHO and other UN agencies are ready to deliver food and medicine if allowed. “The risk of famine in Gaza is increasing with the deliberate withholding of humanitarian aid, including food, in the ongoing blockade,” he said.

He also warned that Gaza’s health system is collapsing. Increasing hostilities, evacuation orders, and restricted access have made conditions worse. “People are dying from preventable diseases as medicines wait at the border, while attacks on hospitals deny people care and deter them from seeking it,” he added.

Israel’s Stance and Limited Aid Access

Since March 2, Israel has enforced a full blockade on Gaza. The Israeli government says it aims to pressure Hamas through this strategy. However, on Monday, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu agreed to allow limited food aid, citing “diplomatic reasons.”

Since November 2023, WHO has helped evacuate over 7,300 patients from Gaza, including 617 cancer patients. Tedros noted that more than 10,000 patients still need urgent evacuation.

“We ask member states to accept more patients,” Tedros said. “We ask Israel to allow these evacuations and to allow urgently needed food and medicine to enter.”

He concluded, “WHO stands ready, with our UN partners, to move rapidly to deliver it if and when it is allowed to enter. I hope peace will prevail that can transcend generations. War is not the solution.”

“Given a Choice Between Pakistan and Hell, I Would Choose Hell,” Javed Akhtar On Pakistan

“Given a Choice Between Pakistan and Hell, I Would Choose Hell,” Javed Akhtar On Pakistan
“Given a Choice Between Pakistan and Hell, I Would Choose Hell,” Javed Akhtar On Pakistan

Javed Akhtar has a history of spewing hate on Pakistan, and honestly, we get it. Given the history of the government you live under, it’s the only way to save your throat. But when does this hate turn into obsession? When it’s the only thing that can keep him relevant.

Yes, the Indian screenwriter and lyricist, Javed Akhtar, is again seen throwing petty remarks at Pakistan in a video recently circulating on social media. What now? Well, according to the lyricist, he would rather go to hell than go to Pakistan (completely unprovoked statement).

“People from both sides abuse me,” he said at the launch of Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut’s new book in Mumbai on Saturday. “One calls me a kaafir, saying I will go to hell. The other calls me a jihadi, asking me to go to Pakistan. So, if I only have a choice of going either to hell or to Pakistan, I would rather like to go to hell.”

This statement faced a lot of dismay from Pakistani citizens, especially keeping in mind Pakistan’s history of warmly hosting Akhtar at various cultural events.

Pakistan’s Unreciprocated Hospitality

Pakistan has a long tradition of hosting Indian intellectuals, artists, and performers with grace and generosity.

This is exactly why irony is staggering. This isn’t just any public figure spewing venom from a safe distance. This is the same Javed Akhtar who was welcomed in Lahore at the Faiz Festival in 2023, celebrated for his artistry and cheered by crowds of Pakistani fans. He was given so much respect that our most beloved celebrities were seen paying homage to him and treating him with everything they had. His past appearances at literary festivals and cultural events in Pakistan were always met with packed halls, glowing praise and reverence for his contributions to poetry and film. Yet today, the same man dismisses that country in the most undignified way possible.

How can one reconcile such warmth with such venom?

The Smug Comfort of Indian Nationalism

It’s no secret that India’s socio-political environment has shifted dramatically over the last decade. Nationalist fervour, often bordering on jingoism, dominates public discourse. In such an environment, comments like Akhtar’s are not only tolerated; they are applauded.

One can’t help but feel that Akhtar’s statement was designed not for introspection, but for applause. It plays neatly into the hands of the Indian right-wing narrative, which vilifies Pakistan as the eternal other.

But for someone who once prided himself on being a rationalist, it’s disheartening to see Akhtar bend to the lowest common denominator of populist sentiment. Is he afraid of being branded anti-national? Or has he (like many others) succumbed to the easy, intoxicating high of bashing Pakistan for brownie points back home?

Artists are Cultural Bridges

Artists, poets and thinkers are bridges between people and cultures. They rise above the borders drawn by politics and ideology. Javed Akhtar once had the moral authority to do that. However, by equating Pakistan with “hell,” he hasn’t just burned a bridge but has also set fire to the very ideals of cultural empathy he seemed to be championing for about a decade.

The worst part? The timing of the statement. Just last week, India and Pakistan were on the brink of war and now a public figure like Javed Akhtar associates “hell” with Pakistan? This echoes the rhetoric of the Modi regime. By making such a statement, Javed Akhtar is proving that he has lent his voice to the narratives that fuel division and conflict. Why? Well, maybe he isn’t as patriotic as he is making it out to be and couldn’t care less about violence and war.

It is people like Javed Akhtar who make it seem to us that any attempt of goodwill was just a waste of our time. Seems like Pakistan surely deserved better guests. Guests that deserving of the hospitality they receive from the nation.

How to Check SIMs on CNIC in Pakistan – Explained

How to Check SIMs On CNIC in Pakistan - Explained
How to Check SIMs On CNIC in Pakistan - Explained

With rising concerns around identity theft and SIM misuse, every Pakistani citizen must know how to check SIMs on CNIC. Why? Our Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC) is our national identity, and unauthorised SIMs on it can be used to carry out certain illegal and terrorist activities. This is as dangerous as it sounds.

Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has provided several ways to help users verify the number of active SIMs registered against their CNIC.

In this guide, we will walk you through step-by-step methods (both online and offline) to stay secure and informed.

How to Check SIMs On CNIC in Pakistan

There are multiple ways to verify which SIM cards are registered under your CNIC. This includes verification through SMS, USSD codes or by using PTA’s online portals.

Below are the most effective methods:

1) Checking Through SMS (Offline Method)

One of the simplest and most accessible ways to check how many SIMs are registered against your CNIC is via SMS:

  1. Open your messaging app.
  2. Type your CNIC number (without spaces or dashes) in an SMS message.
  3. Send this message to the short code 668.
  4. You will receive a response detailing the number of SIMs registered against your CNIC and the mobile company they belong to.
Note: Charges may apply for this service depending on your mobile operator.

2) Checking Through USSD Code

Some mobile networks also offer USSD codes to check SIM information. While not universal across all networks, you can try dialing:

  1. *8484# on your mobile phone.
  2. This will display the number of mobile devices registered against your CNIC.
  3. If there are devices registered under your CNIC that you don’t own, it indicates potential misuse of your credentials.
Note: In case of a mismatch, you can disown extra SIMs by requesting the respective mobile operator, says PTA.

3) Checking Online via the PTA’s Website

The PTA SIM Information System also offers an online portal for checking SIMs registered on your CNIC:

  1. Visit: https://cnic.sims.pk
  2. Enter your CNIC number.
  3. Complete the captcha and click “Submit.”
  4. The system will show you all SIMs registered against your ID, categorised by network.
Note: This method is free and gives a detailed breakdown. If network availability and checking online isn’t a problem then this method is recommended the most.

Check SIMs Registered on Your CNIC Through a Network

Let’s say you want to check network-specific information or address of any unauthorised SIMs on your CNIC, what to do then? Each telecom operator also provides its way to verify or report SIMs registered on your CNIC.

The system has established a way for you to find any information you need.

1) Jazz (Mobilink) SIM Check

  • Dial *99# and follow the instructions.

  • Or you can visit the official Jazz website and use their online SIM verification tool by typing your CNIC number.

  • Can’t do either? Well, a Jazz user can also contact Jazz customer service at “111” for assistance.

2) Telenor SIM Check

  • Simply dial *888# on your phone and follow the prompts to check registered SIMs.
  • Use Telenor’s online portal to verify SIMs linked to your CNIC.
  • Lastly, the Telenor user can contact the customer service via 345.
  • You can also visit the nearest Telenor franchise for help.

3) Ufone SIM Check

  • Dial the Ufone check code *336# to inspect SIM owner details.
  • Visit Ufone’s official website for SIM verification with CNIC number.
  • Contact the Ufone Helpline at 333 for more assistance.
  • Alternatively, visit Ufone’s service centres for support and biometric verification.

4) Zong SIM Check

  • Dial *310# from your Zong SIM to view registered SIMs.
  • Visit Zong’s official website for online SIM verification by entering your CNIC number.
  • Contact the Zong operator via 310 for customer support.

What to Do When Unauthorised SIMs are Found? A Step-by-Step Guide

Now, onto the most critical part: finding an unauthorised SIM. If you notice any unknown SIMs registered under your CNIC, take immediate action:

  1. Identify the SIM: Note the network and SIM type from the PTA Device Verification System portal or PTA SMS service. SMS service allows verification via CNIC, while the portal allows verification via IMEI.
  2. Contact the Network Operator: Reach out to their helpline or visit their service centre.
  3. Provide CNIC and Biometric Verification: To lodge a complaint and block the unauthorised SIM.
  4. File a Complaint with PTA (if needed): You can report misuse via the PTA’s Complaint portal.
  5. Stay Vigilant: Regularly check your CNIC for unknown SIMs to avoid misuse.

Final Verdict

Knowing how to check SIMs on CNIC is essential in today’s day and age, especially due to the increased cybercrimes and unauthorized SIM usage happening on a wide scale these days.

If anything, verifying the SIMs linked to your CNIC helps you stay secure and informed. We suggest every Pakistani citizen to carry out this verification. So, go ahead and verify your today!

BCCI Denies Reports of India’s Withdrawal from Asia Cup 2025

BCCI Denies Reports of India's Withdrawal from Asia Cup 2025
BCCI Denies Reports of India's Withdrawal from Asia Cup 2025

The Asia Cup 2025, scheduled to be held in India later this year, faces fresh uncertainty. Reports from Indian media suggest that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is considering pulling out of the tournament due to rising political tensions with Pakistan.

Allegedly, the BCCI is also hesitant to participate in the Women’s Emerging Asia Cup, which is set for June in Sri Lanka.

BCCI Issues Clarification

However, in response to the media reports, the BCCI has firmly denied any plans to withdraw. Speaking to Indian outlets, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia dismissed the rumours as “devoid of any truth.”

“Since this morning, it has come to our notice that some news items suggest BCCI’s decision not to participate in the Asia Cup and Women’s Emerging Teams Asia Cup,” Saikia said. “These reports are purely speculative. The board has neither discussed nor taken any steps in this regard.”

He emphasised that BCCI has not communicated anything to the ACC. “At this stage, our focus remains on the ongoing IPL and the upcoming England series, for both men and women,” he added.

Saikia also stated that if and when any discussion about ACC events takes place, an official announcement will be made. “Until then, such reports should be treated as imaginary,” he concluded.

The speculation is tied to ongoing political and security tensions in the region. Relations between India and Pakistan remain strained, especially after a recent attack in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and the subsequent military developments.

Notably, India and Pakistan have not played a bilateral cricket series since 2013. They have only faced each other in ICC and ACC tournaments, and always at neutral venues. In a recent example, India refused to travel to Pakistan for the 2025 Champions Trophy, opting to play its matches in Dubai instead.

What’s Next?

So far, the ACC has not issued any official statement regarding the situation. India, as the defending Asia Cup champion, remains a key participant in the tournament. Any potential withdrawal would significantly impact the event’s structure and scheduling.

Until further notice, the matter remains unresolved, and all eyes are on the ACC and BCCI for official confirmation.

Pakistan to Send High-Level Diplomats Abroad in Response to Indian Propaganda

Pakistan to Send High-Level Diplomats Abroad in Response to Indian Propaganda

In reaction to rising tensions with India, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has initiated a significant diplomatic assault. A senior delegation of high-ranking Pakistani politicians and diplomats will tour principal world capitals to “expose Indian propaganda” after recent military skirmishes, state media said on Sunday.

The diplomatic gesture is in the wake of a military clash ignited by the attack on Pahalgam last month. India accused Pakistan of the attack without producing evidence. In retaliation, India launched air raids in Punjab and Azad Kashmir on May 6–7, resulting in the deaths of several civilians. Pakistan retaliated quickly by shooting down five Indian planes and intercepting several drones.

The stand-off resulted in tit-for-tat airbase raids before US intervention on May 10 facilitated a tenuous ceasefire. Aggressive Indian rhetoric has still continued, and so Pakistan has taken its cause to the world.

Bilawal to Lead the Global Mission

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif personally requested former Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari to head the delegation. “I am honoured to accept this responsibility,” Bilawal posted on X, vowing to make “Pakistan’s case for peace.”

The delegation also includes other prominent members like Dr Musadik Malik, Engineer Khurram Dastgir, Senator Sherry Rehman, Hina Rabbani Khar, Faisal Subzwari, Tehmina Janjua, and Jalil Abbas Jilani.

Global Outreach for Peace

The delegation will visit prominent capitals such as London, Washington, Paris, and Brussels. The objectives of the mission are two-fold: to rebut India’s international campaign of disinformation and to reiterate Pakistan’s interest in regional peace.

“This visit will expose India’s misplaced narrative and its efforts to destabilise the region,” Radio Pakistan quoted. “Simultaneously, it will project Pakistan’s consistent appeal for dialogue and diplomacy.”

India Plans its Own Campaign

While that was happening, India too made a diplomatic move. Seven all-party delegations will travel to important UN Security Council member states later this month to push its position on terror and “project national unity.”

Battle for the Global Narrative

With both nuclear powers deploying emissaries overseas, the diplomatic war is now global. As both forces attempt to influence global perceptions, world powers are closely observing.

The Pakistani message is simple: Pakistan desires peace, but not at the expense of truth. And it’s presenting that message directly to the world’s capitals.

Sirbaz Khan Sets Historic Milestone: First Pakistani to Conquer All 8,000m Peaks Without Oxygen Support

Sirbaz Khan Sets Historic Milestone
Sirbaz Khan Sets Historic Milestone

In a first for Pakistani mountaineering, Sirbaz Khan has climbed all 14 of the world’s 8,000-metre peaks without supplementary oxygen. He accomplished this elusive achievement by completing his ascent of Nepal’s Mount Kangchenjunga (8,586m) at dawn on Sunday morning.

A Historic Summit in Alpine Style

Sirbaz stood atop Kangchenjunga — the world’s third-highest mountain — at 5:00 am local time (4:15 am PKT). Making this ascent all the more remarkable is that it was accomplished in proper alpine style: no bottled oxygen, light equipment, and no Sherpa support or fixed ropes.

With this last summit, Sirbaz now belongs to an elite club of mountaineers around the world who have summited all 14 of the world’s eight-thousanders without oxygen aid.

A Decade of Dominance in Climbing

Sirbaz, aged 35, is from the picturesque district of Aliabad, Hunza in Gilgit-Baltistan. Since starting his climbing journey in 2016, he has shown unparalleled devotion and braveness.

His full catalog of 8,000-meter peaks is as follows:

  • Everest (8,848m)
  • K2 (8,611m)
  • Kangchenjunga (8,586m)
  • Lhotse
  • Makalu
  • Cho Oyu
  • Dhaulagiri
  • Manaslu
  • Nanga Parbat
  • Annapurna I
  • Gasherbrum I & II
  • Broad Peak
  • Shishapangma

This feat also completes a dream that he shared with his mentor, the late Ali Sadpara, who perished in a winter climb on K2.

National and International Recognition

Messages of congratulations poured in from all over the country. The Alpine Club of Pakistan welcomed the climb as an icon of Pakistani resilience and determination.

“Sirbaz Khan has made the whole nation proud,” ACP Secretary Karrar Haidri stated. “Scaling all 14 highest peaks without oxygen is an heroic feat.”

Top climbers such as Naila Kiani, Sajid Sadpara, and mainstream politicians also hailed his legacy.

Inspiring the Next Generation

Sirbaz has long sought to place Pakistan on the international mountaineering map. His ascents were not merely personal achievements, but a quest to inspire younger climbers to tread in his footsteps.

While Pakistan’s flag flutters on top of all the world’s highest peaks, the name of Sirbaz Khan now stands etched in world mountaineering history for all time.

Russia Launches Largest Drone Attack on Ukraine Since War Began

Russia Launches Largest Drone Attack on Ukraine Since War Began

Russia launched its largest drone attack on Ukraine since the war began, just one day before a planned discussion between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin about a potential ceasefire. The attack destroyed homes and killed at least one woman.

Ukraine’s intelligence service stated that Moscow might also fire an intercontinental ballistic missile later on Sunday to scare the West. Moscow has not responded to this accusation.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, trying to repair ties with the US after a difficult visit to Washington in February, met US Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio in Rome during Pope Leo’s inauguration. Zelenskiy described the meeting as “good” and shared pictures of smiling US and Ukrainian officials. According to Ukrainian media, the meeting lasted 40 minutes.

“I reaffirmed that Ukraine is ready to be engaged in real diplomacy and underscored the importance of a full and unconditional ceasefire as soon as possible,” Zelenskiy said. He also met the new pope.

Drone Assault Sets Stage for Tense Talks

Ukraine and Russia held direct talks for the first time in over three years on Friday under pressure from Trump to reach a ceasefire. They agreed to exchange 1,000 prisoners each, but could not agree on a truce. A Ukrainian delegate said Russia’s conditions were “non-starters.”

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said that leaders of Britain, France, Germany and Poland would talk with Trump before his conversation with Putin. These leaders visited Kyiv last week and are urging Trump to support more sanctions on Russia.

US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said on NBC’s “Meet the Press” that stronger sanctions would depend on Trump. “President Trump has made it very clear that if President Putin does not negotiate in good faith, the United States will not hesitate to up the Russia sanctions along with our European partners,” he said.

Ukraine’s air force said Russia launched 273 drones by 8 a.m. Sunday, breaking the previous record. In Obukhiv, west of Kyiv, Natalia Piven said her home was destroyed. A 28-year-old neighbour was killed, and a child was among the injured. “I could clearly hear the drone flying right towards my house,” she told Reuters.

Ilia Topuria Eyes Welterweight Move Amid Islam Makhachev Verbal Fight

Islam Makhachev

Ilia Topuria has delivered a stern warning to Islam Makhachev. Post the WOW 19 event in Alicante, the unbeaten fighter made one thing abundantly clear: once champion, Makhachev will have to wait his turn.

Topuria (16-0) will meet Charles Oliveira for the vacant UFC lightweight title at UFC 317 on June 28 in Las Vegas. The bout tops International Fight Week and potentially makes him a champion in a second weight class, after featherweight.

No Interest in Welterweight Chase

Islam Makhachev just officially made the jump to welterweight. He’s slated to face Jack Della Maddalena sometime later this year. That created a vacancy for a new lightweight monarch—and Topuria is looking for the crown.

Speaking at the post-fight presser, Topuria reacted to Makhachev’s previous remarks.

“From the beginning, he behaved like he was the boss,” Topuria said. “But who remained? Who’s competing for the belt? Me. And after this bout, when I possess the belt, he can join the queue.” He also clarified one thing—he won’t be following Makhachev. “I don’t pursue fighters that flee. If he returns to 155, he’ll have to work for it.”

Makhachev Fires Back

Makhachev, 27-1, wasn’t slow to react. In an interview last week, he wrote off Topuria as “just talk” and doubted his credentials at lightweight.

But Topuria’s CV is gathering speed. He defeated Alexander Volkanovski in early 2025 to win the featherweight crown, then targeted lightweight gold immediately.

A Fight Brewing for the Future

Topuria is not looking at Makhachev at the moment. His sole focus is to get the win at UFC 317. But fans and pundits are already dreaming of the fight.

Should Topuria become the champion and Makhachev come back, it could be one of the biggest UFC rivalries.

“When I’ve got the belt, I’ll be the one giving the orders,” Topuria said. “And if Islam Makhachev wants to have another go, he’ll have to wait his turn like everyone else.” For now, Las Vegas is the target for Topuria, but the message was sent—and the fight world took notice.

Former US President Joe Biden Diagnosed with Aggressive Prostate Cancer

Former US President Joe Biden Diagnosed with Aggressive Prostate Cancer

The former President of the U.S., Joe Biden, has been diagnosed with an aggressive type of prostate cancer that has spread to the bones, his office confirmed Sunday. The 82-year-old was seen after worsening urinary symptoms. Physicians found a prostate nodule and subsequently confirmed the cancer with a Gleason score of 9, which is one of the worst ratings. “The cancer seems to be hormone-sensitive,” Biden’s office released, indicating that treatment options are being examined.

Political Leaders Respond

Even with decades of political competition, President Donald Trump reached out to Biden through social media: “Wishing Joe a fast and successful recovery.”

Former Vice President Kamala Harris, who took over as the 2024 Democratic nominee after Biden, also issued a message of solidarity. “Joe is a fighter,” she said. “We’re keeping him in our hearts and prayers.”

Former President Barack Obama also commended Biden’s record in cancer treatments. “No one has done more to advance treatment than Joe. I know he’ll face this with strength and grace.”

Health Questions Resurface

Biden’s health was also a main issue during his last year in office. He withdrew from the 2024 race following a nervous debate performance. The new book, Original Sin, suggests aides attempted to conceal evidence of physical and mental deterioration.

The book outlines Biden having trouble recognising actor George Clooney at a fundraiser and detailing private discussions about requiring a wheelchair.

Earlier this month, Biden pushed back. “There’s nothing to those claims,” he said on The View. “I left the race to avoid dividing the party.”

A Tough Diagnosis

The early stages of prostate cancer have a good survival rate. Once it involves the bones, however, as in Biden’s case, treatment is tougher. The five-year survival rate for advanced prostate cancer is about 28%, according to Johns Hopkins Medicine.

This diagnosis is another difficult page in Biden’s history; he had already lost his son Beau to brain cancer in 2015. Now, he’s going through a personal fight. But his supporters claim he’s prepared for it. “He’s always been a resilient leader,” said Senator Chris Murphy. “And that’s how he’ll approach this, too.”

Biden’s office claims further information will be given when treatment is initiated. The political community awaits and prays—for healing, and for resilience.

Peshawar Zalmi Owner Teases Big Overhaul After Poor PSL 10 Campaign

peshawar-zalmi-owner-teases-overhaul-after-psl-10

For nearly a decade, Peshawar Zalmi was the PSL’s most consistent force — always in the playoffs, always in the conversation. But in 2025, the storm finally paused. For the first time in Pakistan Super League history, Zalmi failed to qualify for the knockout stage.

And if you thought the fans were heartbroken, wait till you hear from Zalmi owner Javed Afridi himself.

A Bitter Goodbye to PSL 10

It all came crashing down in Rawalpindi, under gloomy skies and even gloomier batting.

In a rain-shortened, must-win clash against Lahore Qalandars, Babar Azam’s men were asked to chase 150 in just 13 overs. It was always going to be a steep mountain, and Zalmi couldn’t scale it — they stumbled to 123/8, losing by 26 runs.

Just like that, a nine-year streak of playoff qualifications was over. No fairytale finish. Just rain, regret, and raw emotions.

Javed Afridi Breaks His Silence

Not one to shy away during tough times, Javed Afridi took to X (formerly Twitter) with a heartfelt note to the yellow army:

“This season’s outcome hurts, but this platform remains a launchpad for national careers. Major changes are coming — we’ll rebuild with grit and purpose. InshaAllah.”

He didn’t just stop there. Afridi urged fans to stay united, not just for Zalmi, but for the spirit of cricket across the PSL:

“Request to all Zalmi Fans, as a national product, let’s unite to support all PSL teams!”

Now that’s the kind of sportsmanship you love to see — especially in the face of defeat.

Peshawar Zalmi’s 2025 Campaign: What Went Wrong?

Despite boasting stars like Babar Azam, Saim Ayub, and Mohammad Haris, Zalmi never really found their rhythm this season. Their campaign ended with:

  • 4 wins and 6 defeats
  • 8 points on the table
  • A net run rate of -0.293

Read More: India Pulls Out of Asia Cup 2025: Politics Overshadows Cricket Again

While the top order had moments of brilliance, the middle order and bowling unit lacked the consistency that’s been Zalmi’s trademark over the years.

It’s worth remembering — this is a franchise that’s won a title (2017), reached four finals, and has been part of every playoff since the league’s inception… until now.

What’s Next for the Yellow Storm?

In his message, Javed Afridi dropped hints about a Zalmi rebuild and a bigger role in promoting the league experience:

  • ✅ Fan Parks
  • ✅ Yellow Storm stadium fan zones
  • ✅ Vibrant marketing campaigns

It’s clear Peshawar Zalmi are planning to regroup for a comeback. “Stay with us — the storm returns stronger,” Afridi promised. And if you’ve followed Zalmi long enough, you know he means it.

Saudi Airline Resumes First Hajj Flights for Iranian Pilgrims Since 2015

Saudi Airline Resumes First Hajj Flights for Iranian Pilgrims Since 2015
Saudi Airline Resumes First Hajj Flights for Iranian Pilgrims Since 2015

For the first time in ten years, a Saudi airline has restarted flights for Iranian Hajj pilgrims, showing signs of improved relations between the two countries. According to an official from the Saudi civil aviation authority who spoke to AFP on the condition of anonymity, Flynas resumed Iranian pilgrims flights from Imam Khomeini (airport) in Tehran on Saturday.”

The official added that flights from Mashhad in Iran will also begin soon, helping over 35,000 Iranian pilgrims travel to Saudi Arabia for Hajj. Flynas is a low-cost Saudi airline that runs both domestic and international routes.

Reason Behind Broken Ties

Iran and Saudi Arabia had broken ties in 2016 after the Saudi embassy in Tehran and its consulate in Mashhad were attacked during protests. The protests followed Saudi Arabia’s execution of Nimr al-Nimr, a prominent Shia cleric. Relations resumed in March 2023 with the help of a China-brokered deal after seven years of no diplomatic contact.

Since the restoration of ties, the two countries have been in more regular contact. They have exchanged ambassadors and foreign ministers’ visits. Iran’s late President Ebrahim Raisi visited Saudi Arabia in November 2023 for a joint Arab-Islamic summit on the Gaza war—the first such visit by an Iranian president in 20 years.

In December 2023, Iran Air also restarted flights between Mashhad and Dammam in eastern Saudi Arabia. Last month, Saudi Defence Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman made a rare visit to Iran, where he met with Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
