The telecom industry is continuously requesting the Government of Pakistan to roll out this new system, but because of some pressure from the Electricity Mafia, this technology is still not out.

Sim-Electric-Meter

Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) has completed the bidding documents for the Advanced Metering Infrastructure. These documents are now in line to be approved by the Asian Development Bank.

In this project, LESCO will install 1.8 million advanced meters over the span of 4 years. This project will be funded by Asian Development Bank and will cost around Rs. 30 billion. This will speed up the electricity billing system by sending the data of meter reading directly to the server and generating an electronic electricity bill.

It will also help halt the “Kunda” system. Furthermore, the technology used in this meter is so-advanced that in the case of non-payment of the bill, LESCO can cut off the electricity supply from the grid station only.

Pakistan is marching towards advancement in all aspects. This is another effort to make our country a digitalized nation!
