Field Marshal Asim Munir stated that India escalated its proxy war after facing defeat in “Marka-e-Haq,” a 19-day conflict that lasted from April 22 to May 10. The military’s media wing, ISPR, shared this statement on Wednesday following his address to the 16th National Workshop in Balochistan.
He strongly condemned India’s open support for terror proxies. According to him, this was a failed attempt to shake the loyalty and patriotism of the people in Balochistan. He warned that these proxies would face the same humiliation as in Marka-e-Haq.
India, he noted, is now advancing hybrid warfare using Fitna-al-Khawarij and Fitna-al-Hindustan. These, he said, are tools in a broader strategy to harm Pakistan’s unity. Nevertheless, he assured that such efforts would not succeed.
While addressing parliamentarians, civil society, media personnel, youth, and others, Munir stressed that terrorists do not follow any religion, sect, or ethnicity. Therefore, a united national approach is essential to confront this threat. He underlined the need for a collective will to resist all forms of extremism.
Furthermore, the army chief reaffirmed the military’s firm resolve to eliminate terrorism. He stated that development in Balochistan is necessary for Pakistan’s cohesion and stability. Pakistan, he emphasised, remains committed to peace but is fully ready to respond to all threats.
He also highlighted the importance of collaboration between institutions. A cohesive national approach, according to him, will drive progress in Balochistan. Only then can the province reach its full potential and contribute to the country’s growth.
These remarks follow the recent 271st Corps Commanders’ Conference. In that meeting, top army leadership vowed to take clear and decisive action against proxies backed by India. The forum also condemned false statements from the Indian Army made to hide their defeat in Marka-e-Haq.
Earlier, DG ISPR Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry gave an interview to Al Jazeera. He said India behaves like a regional bully and sponsors terror cells to carry out targeted killings inside Pakistan. Moreover, he revealed evidence of Indian intelligence officers involved in these acts through organised criminal networks.
