Whether it was his short-term marriage (10 months to be precise) or the much talked about divorce and now the infamous autobiography written by the lady herself; the former cricket star has maintained silence about his feelings towards their relationship.
However, in an exclusive interview with the UK newspaper, ‘Mail Online’, Imran finally broke the silence.
Speaking about his rocky marriage with Reham, here’s what he had to say…
Normally I don’t say anything about Reham, but I will say this: I’ve made some mistakes in my life, but my second marriage has to be the biggest.
He also bared his feelings about his current wife, Bushra Maneka, a leading scholar and Sufi spiritual guide, who he married last year.
I did not catch a glimpse of my wife’s face until after we were married. I proposed to her without seeing her because she had never met me without her face being covered with a full veil
The only idea I had of what she looked like came from an old photograph I had seen in her house.
He further talked about how he has changed with time along with his perception of beauty.
I have gradually realized that although I know more about physical attraction than anyone else, actually the character of a person and the mind, the intellect, is much more important than the physical, because in my experience that has the smallest shelf life.
Previously married to Khawar Fareed Maneka, Bushra has five children from her previous marriage while Imran has two sons with from his first marriage with Jemima Goldsmith.
He revealed that though the transition for the two families had been difficult, the couple is now in the process of getting to know each other’s children from their previous marriage.
