Pakistan’s image in the cricket world

Pakistan’s cricket has suffered due to the country’s image in the media. The most recent blows to the image will be when New Zealand and England, both pulled out of the tour scheduled for the land of the green shirts. After such incidents, Pakistan was able to slap the haters back with their incredible performance as they remained unbeaten for five matches in a row during the T20 World cup and were the first team to qualify for the semi-finals.

Could it be after that that the ICC decided the Champions Trophy could be hosted by Pakistan; we will not know.

India might just pull out

Ever since the news was made public, Pakistan had rejoiced at the announcement. It meant that our image would be made better globally. But with the notification, there was also a thought spurring in the back of the mind that whether India would even come in or not. It must have been a thought on both sides of the border because the Indian ministers are hinting at how their team will possibly pull out of the tournament.

Indian Sports Minister Anurag Thakur said:

“When the time will come, the Indian government and the Home Ministry will take a decision. During the international championships, all the factors are looked upon.”

Apparently, for him, Pakistan was not safe as a location for their team to play.

But is it really the security concerns from Pakistan or from the Pakistani team that has scared them?

Pakistan’s delight on ICC Champions Trophy

While India worries about its participation in ICC Champions Trophy, Pakistan is in celebratory mode. Pakistan Cricket Board’s chairman tweeted how being the tournament’s host is a matter of pride for the country.

We would totally like for the Indians to come across the border, however. it will be a shame to miss the chance of defeating them yet again.
