Recently, a video surfaced online from a classroom in COMSATS University. At first, it feels harmless, just a typical university class going on. But when you listen closer, the words of the professors keep on getting shocking and shocking, to the extent that you are embarrassed to hear more.

The video is about Dr. Muhammad Tayyab Chaudhry, a professor (even though now I doubt he can even be considered one) at COMSATS University, who seems to be degrading a student in his class over a laptop, because he knows no one above him will question him.

What Actually Happened in this COMSATS Classroom?

This is how the situation unfolded. Tayyab Chaudhry’s class is going on, and then a student shows up with a different laptop. It was his brother’s because his own stopped working. Yet, all the work of the student was complete, but this didn’t stop the teacher from doing what he did next.

The professor asks the student where his own laptop is, to which the student answers that his stopped working. The teacher then starts throwing insulting remarks at the student, asking him how poor he is and how his father can’t even get him a laptop.

The classroom went silent, and so did the student. Then, slowly, the student says, “My father passed away last year” At this point, it got horrible enough, and this could have easily been the last straw. One might think Tayyab Chaudhry might stop with his bashing after knowing that the poor student has no father’s hand above him.

However, this wasn’t the case. Tayyab Chaudhry then went on to ask him, “toh tumhara bhai ya woh bhi mar gaya” and “Tell your brother to arrange it through zakat.” Then the professor makes the student call his brother and insults him too in front of the whole class.

The Intentional Humiliation 

Tayyab Chaudhary not only threw remarks at the student but also mocked him with the Zakat suggestion while simultaneously telling him that he is doing this in front of 400 people. So, he was well aware of what he was doing and yet intentionally publicly targeted the student and his family just because he could.

This makes one think: if he can say all this in front of 400 people, what else must he have been getting away with behind the doors? If he doesn’t stutter once, stating all these horrific remarks at a student, then what else must have been normal for him?

More that Came to Light

Students say that it was not an individual incident; they accuse Dr. Chaudhry of constantly insulting and intimidating them and taking revenge with unjust grading.

Despite numerous student complaints, the university allegedly did not do anything, and no official comment has been issued by COMSATS yet.

It is stated that even after this incident, Tayyab Chaudhry went on to lower the CGPA (as little as 1) of the whole class by failing them, playing with their future. And when matters were taken to the administration, they all defended him and protected him.

Some faculty members even suggested that it’s normal, or maybe the teacher was just under stress.” But what about the students he mentally abuses daily with his remarks? Why does he hold so much power in a university that swears by protecting its students, and how long until all this is allowed? People will forget, and then more Tayyab Chaudhry’s will freely ruin the lives of young students.
