A tearful declaration by the Tansen of music, AR Rahman and wife Saira Banu, announced their separation after 29 years of marriage. “Emotional pressure has been one of the major reasons for separation,” said Rahman. “Emotional strain is killing us,” he expressed through a poetic post on X, “We had hoped to reach the grand thirty, but all things, it seems, carry an unseen end. Even the throne of God might tremble at the weight of broken hearts.”
A Love Story Remembered
Their relationship, an epitome of mutual respect, began in 1995 when Rahman met Saira at a Sufi shrine in Chennai. His mother and sister had arranged the meeting.
