Karachi Kings fast bowler Hasan Ali has been fined 10 per cent of his match fee after breaching the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) Code of Conduct during their PSL 11 clash against Lahore Qalandars.
The sanction comes under a Level 1 offence, although the pacer has accepted the charge and agreed to the penalty without contest.
Despite the disciplinary setback, Karachi still managed to walk away with a crucial win at the Gaddafi Stadium.
What Led to the Fine?
According to the PCB, Hasan Ali was found guilty of violating Article 2.5 of the Code of Conduct. The rule relates to the use of language, actions or gestures that may “disparage or provoke an aggressive reaction” from a batter after dismissal.
The incident occurred on the final delivery of the 19th over of Lahore Qalandars’ innings. Hasan had just dismissed wicketkeeper-batter Haseebullah Khan, and the gesture or reaction that followed led to the charge being raised by match officials.
Unlike more prolonged disciplinary cases, this one was resolved quickly. Hasan Ali admitted the offence and accepted the sanction, which resulted in a 10 per cent fine of his match fee. As a result, no further hearing was required, and the matter has now been formally closed.
Karachi Kings Maintain Control On the Field
While the incident drew attention, Karachi Kings ensured it did not distract from their performance on the pitch.
The team delivered a composed and disciplined display to defeat defending champions Lahore Qalandars by four wickets.
Chasing a modest target of 129 on a tricky surface, Karachi held their nerve and reached the total with three balls remaining.
