A heavy flood hit the Swat River early Friday, drowning several people. Rescue officials confirmed they recovered four bodies and launched operations across multiple locations.
Teams recovered three bodies from Ingaro Dheri and found another in Ghalegy. Officials have not confirmed the total number of missing persons, but local reports claim that several people remain unaccounted for.
Shah Fahad, Director General of Rescue 1122, said in a press release, “The rescue effort is being conducted at five various locations and 80 personnel of Rescue 1122 are assisting in the search operation.” His team continues searching the hardest-hit areas.
A spokesperson for Swat Rescue 1122 said that strong floods rushed through the area and swept away multiple people. He added, โTwo bodies have been found so far; the search for others is still going on, but high-level flood is stalling the operation.โ
Rising water levels have slowed progress, but teams continue searching. The situation in the flood-affected areas remains dangerous and tense.
Rescue workers face strong currents in the Swat River and low visibility while moving through the water. Despite the risks, they continue their work, and local volunteers support them where possible.
Officials expect the number of victims to rise as the operation continues. They are coordinating efforts across the district to cover all affected areas.
Rescue 1122 teams brought equipment and trained workers to deal with the situation. They are still working, even with bad weather and tough ground.
Authorities have urged residents to stay away from the river and flooded areas. They also asked people to cooperate with emergency services.
Officials plan to release more updates as they confirm new details. They promised to keep the public informed throughout the ongoing operation.
