It doesn’t matter if your car is old or new, dents are a matter of concern for every driver.

A car dent can occur anywhere, whether you are pulling up in your driveway or leaving a parking lot at a mall.

If you are not careful enough, and if others around you are also neglectful, you can find your car’s pristine body damaged.

Although many opt for professional repairs, it’s always a good idea to learn how to cater to the smaller ones.

This way, you won’t find yourself at the mechanic every other month.

Here are a couple of DIY dent removal methods that will come in handy:

1. The Plunger

Although crude, this is one effective method to pop a dent. The pressure created from the suction can help pull a dent back to its position as long as the damage is not overdone.

For this, you’ll require a cup plunger (not a toilet plunger). You simply have to place the suction part over the dent, push it in so that it can get stuck on the body, and then pull!

Keep in mind that if you push too hard or too much, you can end up making the dent worse and more difficult to pop-out.

2. Boiling Water

If you own a car that has a plastic body than this DIY trick is for you. Since you will be dealing with boiling water, we advise you to be extra careful and take preventive measures, so you don’t burn yourself.

Your first step is to boil a pot of water. Once the water is ready, take it to your car and slowly pour it over the dented plastic. Once you have done that, quickly reach behind the bumper and push the body back into its place.

3. Hairdryer & Compressed Air

Most useful for small dents, this method is best for plastic car bodies. It is relatively simple, heat the dented area with the hairdryer for about 5 minutes. Then, take a can of compressed air, turn it upside down, start spraying on the dented area.

If you are lucky enough, the dent will start to cool rapidly, contracting the plastic. Once that happens, the body will pop back into its original place, and the body will be as good as new.
