Karachi police have formed a six-member team to investigate the death of actor-model Humaira Asghar Ali. Officials found her decomposed body on July 8 in her apartment in Defence Phase VI. She had lived there alone for seven years.
A court bailiff discovered her body while enforcing an eviction over unpaid rent. The apartment owner had filed the case months ago.
Dr. Summaiya Syed, police surgeon, confirmed the body was severely decomposed. She stated Humaira likely died 8 to 10 months ago.
SP Clifton Imran Jagirani leads the committee. Other members include SDPO Aurangzeb Khattak, ASP Nida Junaid, SHO Farooq, SI Amjad, and constable Adeel. They must report daily progress to SSP South.
Police accessed her three phones, a tablet, and a laptop. A diary in her room listed all passwords. That allowed officers to unlock and examine her data.
So far, two people have recorded statements. Police have summoned two more for questioning.
Investigators also plan to speak with her gym trainer and beautician. She visited both regularly. They hope to learn more about her last known movements.
Officers reviewed her bank records and communication history. Her contact list was small, pointing to a tight inner circle.
Humaira gained fame from the reality show Tamasha Ghar. Later, she starred in the film Jalaibee.
Her case echoes another recent tragedy. Just weeks ago, veteran actress Ayesha Khan was found dead in her apartment. Neighbuors had reported a foul smell before police arrived.
Police are now working to determine if Humaira’s death was natural, accidental, suicide, or a result of foul play.
