Former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag humorously referred to Chennai Super Kings’ MS Dhoni, as “buzurg” (elderly) his fielding prowess during the IPL 2024 encounter against Gujarat Titans.

Sehwag, speaking on Cricbuzz, praised the exceptional fielding efforts displayed by CSK players, including Ajinkya Rahane and Rachin Ravindra.

However, his light-hearted remark about Dhoni’s age drew attention, with the 45-year-old former cricketer labelling Dhoni as ‘buzurg.’

“Catches win matches. Ajinkya Rahane picked a good catch, so did Rachin Ravindra. The Buzurg (aged) MS Dhoni also picked one,” Sehwag stated.

Former India all-rounder Rohan Gavaskar, also present on the panel, questioned Sehwag’s distinction between Dhoni and Rahane’s age.

Virender Sehwag defended his comment, highlighting the age gap between the two CSK stalwarts and emphasizing Rahane’s superior fitness compared to Dhoni.

“Their age is not the same. There is a (age) difference and Rahane is also fitter than MS Dhoni. There is a big difference between a 35-year-old and a 42-year-old. MS is getting old now, there is no doubt about it,” Sehwag responded.
