With the current on-growing coronavirus epidemic, the flourishing tourism sector was the first and most affected sector in the entire industry. With tourism contributing almost 3% to the entire economy of the country, this has indeed been a shocker.

Hotels, Travel and tourism agencies, Car Rentals, and several similar businesses that are mostly busy during the holiday seasons have been affected badly. However, government banks like the State Bank of Pakistan have put forth an initiative enabling the business owners to claim salaries for their employees from banks and return in convenient 6-months of installments. Even though this sounds like a stress reliever, there still hasn’t been any response to the queries.

Popular travel and tourism platforms like Batoota.pk have requested their viewers and frequent travelers to join hands with them in this dire time of need to support the declining travel and tourism business as well as the crucially unstable economy.

A country with a rich cultural heritage like Pakistan needs to be explored by its own residents before the international tourists come to visit. Many people have left their high-end careers to serving the progressing tourism industry of Pakistan as it has the potential to boom and grow over the years.

As responsible and proud citizens patriotically in love with the country, it’s our utmost responsibility to help the tourism industry stand on its feet once this global health crisis is over.

Talha Gadit requests the government to take some initiatives to help the service providers of this industry to survive in these tough times.
