Best Biryani Places in Karachi Every Foodie Needs to Try

If there’s one thing Karachiites can agree on (barely), it’s that biryani is sacred and that we have the best biryani (no one gets to disagree on this).

And when I say sacred, I mean it literally, like talking about national heritage, emotional support system, a form of religion.

Like my fellow Karachiites, my love for biryani began long before I could even spell the dish’s name. Best believe it was the greatest part of my Fridays. Fast forward to adulthood, and like any emotionally mature, responsible Karachi citizen, I set out on a noble quest: To discover the absolute best biryani spots in Karachi.

After several carb-loaded months, here are the top 10 Biryani Places in Karachi every foodie needs to try.

1. Friendzz Biryani (The New People’s Favourite)

Friendzz Biryani is that unexpected overachiever cousin who gets straight As without trying.

The first time I tried it, I was expecting just another busy biryani joint experience. Plastic chairs, noisy families, and a plate that tastes exactly like the last ten I had tried in the area. Instead, I got a biryani that tasted like it had actually been made with intention.

Moist rice, balanced spice and tender meat all in one? Oh my taste buds were in heaven!

What I loved most was how balanced it felt. Nothing was too much. Not the oil, not the salt, not the masala.

This is the kind of biryani that restores faith in humanity and in Karachi’s food scene.

Biryani Prices of Friendzz Biryani:

  • Single Chicken Biryani: Rs. 160
  • Double Chicken Biryani: Rs. 320
  • Single Beef Biryani: Rs. 200
  • Double Beef Biryani: Rs. 400

2. The White Biryani (For Mild & Aromatic Lovers)

At first glance, it had me question whether it was a biryani at all, as it is completely white. However, after one spoonful in and I immediately understood the hype.

Was it underwhelming at first? Yes, but soon enough, the beautiful taste slowly began to register on my palate. By resorting only to a few basic ingredients, the chefs behind The White Biryani had concocted an unassuming-looking biryani that is underestimated until it is tried. And after that, your taste buds can’t help but want more.

The percentage of oil and moisture was nearly perfect, as if it were not a dish from a small restaurant finding its footing in Karachi, but an expert biryani prepared by a five-star chef.

What really messed with my head, though, was the price. For something that looks and tastes like it belongs on fine china in a five-star hotel, the bill feels almost humble considering the generously large single plate only cost Rs190.

Biryani Prices of The White Biryani:

  • Single Chicken Biryani: Rs. 400
  • Double Chicken Biryani: Rs. 700
  • Single Beef Biryani: Rs. 500
  • Double Beef Biryani: Rs. 900

3. Karachi Naseeb Biryani (Mahmoodabad Classic)

Karachi Naseeb Biryani tastes exactly like the city it comes from: intense, unapologetic, and absolutely not subtle.

From the first spoonful, you know this biryani has no interest in moderation. The masala hits you with full force, the aroma fills the room, and suddenly you are sitting a little straighter, because this is not light food.

On some days, it’s a solid 10/10 while on others, a slightly confused 8/10.

But like that one toxic ex you still love, you keep going back because you know that it’s still anything but mid.

Biryani Prices of Karachi Naseeb Biryani:

  • Single Chicken Biryani: Rs. 192
  • Double Chicken Biryani: Rs. 240

4. Al Rehman Biryani (Kharadar’s Most Reliable Spot)

Eating at Al Rehman in Kharadar feels like participating in a Karachi ritual. There is noise, there is rush, there is heat. And somewhere in the middle of all that, there is a plate of biryani that makes it all worth it.

The first thing that hits you is the aroma. Spices, meat, and that familiar biryani fragrance that makes your brain switch to “I need this now” mode.

Once you take the bite, the spice hits, then the aroma, and before you know it, you’re licking your fingers, wondering why you ever doubted old-school biryani joints.

This is a very “local” kind of biryani. No fancy packaging, no attempt to be delicate. It is straightforward, spicy, oily in that comforting Karachi way, and very honest about what it is.

If you want to understand why people in Kharadar swear by it, you only need one full plate. Maybe two.

Biryani Prices of Al Rehman Biryani:

  • Single Chicken Biryani: Rs. 400
  • Double Chicken Biryani: Rs. 500

5. Qadri Nalli Biryani (For Nalli Lovers)

Qadri Nalli Biryani is not here to make compromises. It is not for days when you are on a diet or pretending to eat clean.

The star here is the nalli. Rich, buttery marrow that melts into the masala and gives the rice a deep, slow-cooked flavour. One bite and you know this is not your average biryani.

The rice carries that beefy depth in every bite. The spice level usually sits at that happy place where your tongue is awake but not crying. And when you get a bit of nalli with the rice, it is game over. You stop thinking about healthy choices and simply accept your fate.

Qadri is a place you go when you are fully prepared to eat a proper, indulgent meal and then contemplate your life decisions, thinking that maybe you ate too much.

Biryani Prices of Qadri Nalli Biryani

  • Single Plate Biryani: Rs. 280
  • Double Plate Biryani: Rs. 550

6. Ghousia Nalli Biryani (Liaquatabad’s Icon)

There was a time when Ghousia Nalli Biryani could easily be called a perfect 10 out of 10. Recently, it has become a little less consistent, but when it is good, it still reminds you why it made such a name for itself.

The biryani has that deep, marrow-infused flavour that beef lovers are always chasing. The rice soaks up the nalli richness, and the masala has a warmth that grows slowly.

Some days, you can tell the kitchen has had a great day and every bite feels like old times. On other days, it feels a little rushed.

Even with that, it still ranks above a lot of places in the city. When Ghousia gets it right, you remember exactly why people used to call it unbeatable.

Biryani Prices of Ghousia Nalli Biryani:

  • Single Plate Biryani: Rs. 550
  • Double Plate Biryani: Rs. 1100

7. Indus Biryani (Underrated & Addictive)

Indus Biryani is the quiet, responsible middle child of the Karachi biryani family. It is not trying to shock you, but it is not bland either. It sits in that sweet middle range of spice and flavour that keeps you coming back.

The rice is usually nicely cooked, the masala is steady and balanced, and the chicken holds on its own.

It is the kind of biryani that is perfect for office lunches, casual meetups, or days when you just want something solid that you know will not disappoint.

Biryani Prices of Indus Biryani:

  • Single Chicken Biryani: Rs. 350
  • Double Chicken Biryani: Rs. 700
  • Single Beef Biryani: Rs. 440
  • Double Beef Biryani: Rs. 880

8. Jeddah Biryani (Boat Basin Favourite)

Jeddah Biryani, especially from the Boat Basin side of town, tastes like comfort.

You get a plate that looks straightforward enough. Then you take a bite and realise it has that easy, familiar flavour that feels like you have been eating it for years, even if it is your first time.

The spice level usually stays moderate, which makes it a great option for groups where not everyone wants their mouth on fire. The chicken is generally well cooked and not dry, and the rice carries enough masala to be satisfying without trying to compete with the sun.

This is the kind of biryani you can eat on a random weeknight, sitting in your car with the windows down, watching Karachi being Karachi.

Biryani Prices of Jeddah Biryani:

  • Single Chicken Biryani: Rs. 520
  • Single Beef Biryani: Rs. 650

9. Allah Wala Biryani (Tariq Road Essential)

Allah Wala Biryani at Tariq Road is what I like to call “old faithful”. There was a time when people would swear it was the best biryani of the town. These days, it sits closer to an 8 or 8.5 out of 10, but that still makes it better than most of what is out there.

The flavour is strong and familiar. It has that proper Karachi masala profile that hits as soon as you open the box.

The rice is usually well done, the meat is decent, and the portion size makes you feel like you are getting your money’s worth.

Is it the most exciting biryani in the city? Maybe not anymore. But is it a safe, satisfying option that you can rely on without overthinking? Absolutely.

This is the biryani you order when you are tired, hungry, and in no mood to experiment.

Biryani Prices of Allah Wala Biryani:

  • Single Chicken Biryani: Rs. 360
  • Double Chicken Biryani: Rs. 590
  • Single Beef Biryani: Rs. 450
  • Double Beef Biryani: Rs. 690

10. Farhan Biryani (Simple, Popular & Comforting)

Farhan Biryani is simple. And to be honest, that is its biggest strength.

Not every meal has to be a grand emotional moment. Sometimes you just want a plate of biryani that tastes like proper biryani, fills you up, and lets you get on with your life.

The spice level is moderate, the rice is decent, and the overall experience feels familiar and safe. You are not going to sit back and name it the best, but you are also not going to complain.

Biryani Prices of Farhan Biryani:

  • Single Chicken Biryani: Rs. 180
  • Double Chicken Biryani: Rs. 360

These ten spots represent the best of a city that breathes masala, thrives on tradition, and loves a good plate of spiced rice like no other place on earth.

Try them, argue over them and then rank them with your friends because Biryani is personal for every Karachiite.
