On March 2, 2023, in Pakistan, as part of the Family Pairing control, TikTok keeps adding new options for families and teenagers. The platform is assisting teenagers in managing their screen time with the aid of recent improvements. As part of TikTok’s attempts to provide a positive digital experience, parental controls have been added. Together with fostering connections between users and the discovery of fresh perspectives, the new personalized options will assist users in constructively expressing themselves.

TikTok encourages users to limit their screen time in an effort to improve user experience. Following the findings of the Digital Wellbeing Lab, TikTok will now set the daily screen time cap for users under the age of 18 at 60 minutes. Anyone who wanted to use the application for more than 60 minutes had to actively choose to do so because doing so required a passcode in order to continue.

As part of empowering families and assuring user safety, TikTok has rolled out three new features in the Family Pairing:

Customizable daily screen time limitations: Parents and other adults who look after teenagers can set their own daily screen time limits. A separate time limit can be established for every day. Families will be able to choose the timings by paying attention to the holidays, family trips, and school schedules.

Dashboard for screen time: The dashboard will include summaries of time spent on TikTok and the frequency with which the app was launched. A breakdown of the overall time spent during the day and night is also provided for parents.

Mute notifications: Using this feature, parents may choose to schedule the muting of their teen’s notifications. Users between the ages of 13 and 15 won’t receive notifications after 9:00 p.m. with the new upgrade. Similar to this, accounts with users between the ages of 16 and 17 have their push notifications stopped starting at 10:00 pm.

Also, TikTok is introducing a sleep reminder so users may prepare better for staying offline at night. At the predetermined time, a pop-up will appear to remind users to log out of the program. TikTok has teamed up with creative content creators and experts from the industry.

The in-app assistance is crucial for educating customers about the Family Pairing function and other recent additions. In order to create a safer user experience and give parents the ability to teach their teens about the responsible use of the digital environment, TikTok has developed a number of features and improvements over the past several months. TikTok has improved its parental controls, increased policy transparency, established the Safety Center, and formed beneficial alliances with numerous safety organizations by putting the needs of families first.
