From Karachi to MIT
At the centre of this success is Sualeh Asif, co-founder of Cursor. Originally from Karachi, he studied at Nixor College before earning a place at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

While at MIT, he co-founded Anysphere, the company behind Cursor, along with three fellow classmates. His early achievements were evident when he represented Pakistan at the International Math Olympiad from 2016 to 2018.
Former IT minister Umar Saif praised his success, calling Asif “the kind of role model Pakistani youth needs.”
Pakistan’s Tech Future
Cursor’s massive success points to a familiar pattern. Pakistani talent competes at the highest level even on global stages, but in a local environment, the support is limited. Most innovators only find success after moving abroad.
