The Sindh government on Thursday imposed a ban on establishment of cattle markets or mandis within the jurisdiction of Karachi.

Only the cattle markets at Super Highway, Malir 15, Aso Goth, Landhi, Rice Godown, Moach Goth, are permitted in the city, besides ones in the vicinity of Clifton and Karachi Cantonment Board.

The government has imposed the ban in the exercise of powers conferred under Section 144 (b) Cr. PC.

The state also imposed a ban on establishment of cattle market sale/purchase of sacrificial animals except in the cattle market specified/ notified by the Home Department on the recommendation of respective Commissioners/Deputy Commissioners with immediate effect till 12th Zilhajj, 1439 Hijri.

The Station House Officers (SHOs) of concerned Police stations have been authorized to register complaints under Section 188 PPC in writing for the violation of Section 144 Cr. PC against the violators.
