Former Pakistan captain, Sarfaraz Ahmed, has vehemently denied recent rumours swirling around his alleged departure from Pakistan, clarifying his commitment to the nation.

In an exclusive interview with a local media channel, Sarfaraz addressed the speculative reports that suggested he was considering leaving the country over the uncertainty of his future in the national team.

“I can’t even think of leaving Pakistan. Confirm before running such fabricated news,” Sarfaraz asserted. Expressing his disappointment at the baseless claims, the 36-year-old cricketer stated, “Sad to see such news.”

Earlier reports had hinted at Sarfaraz feeling disheartened about the future of his cricketing career, possibly leading to a decision to relocate to London along with his wife and two children. However, sources close to the cricketer revealed that Sarfaraz Ahmed is currently in London with his family for their annual vacation.

Sarfaraz Ahmed was part of Pakistan’s recent Test squad during the Australia tour, where he featured in the Perth Test. However, he had a forgettable match, tallying just seven runs across two innings, resulting in him being dropped from the next two matches. Although team management backed the former captain despite his poor form, hinting at his selection in future Tests.

He made his comeback to the Test team in December 2022 during the home series against New Zealand, marking a grand comeback as he was adjudged player-of-the-series. Prior to that, Pakistan won the Champions Trophy in 2017 under the inspired leadership of Sarfaraz Ahmed.
