TikTok hosted its first event in Pakistan to launch its Safety Ambassadors Program, which aims to raise awareness about digital safety in the country. TikTok, which has over 1 billion monthly active users worldwide, remains an entertainment platform dedicated to empowering its users. TikTok’s popularity has been attributed to its innovative and diverse community, as well as its emphasis on user protection and safety, and the #SaferTogether campaign in Pakistan is another step in that direction for the platform.

 

A star-studded panel discussion included Taimur Salahuddin (aka Mooroo), Irfan Junejo, Faiza Saleem, Amtul Haseen Baweja, Hamza Bhatti, Areeka Haq, Anoushey Ashraf, and Kazi Muhammad Akber, among others.

The platform provides a centralised location for safety updates called the Safety Centre, which provides up-to-date information on all actions that TikTok implements to continuously improve platform safety and security. The Safety Centre also includes all of the tools and tips about TikTok’s safety features and measures, such as the New User Safety Guide, Parent Guide, resources on what to do to ensure safety, and a comprehensive Privacy Guide. Furthermore, to stay ahead of the curve and ensure proper guidelines are in place for its users, the Safety Centre is regularly updated.

To moderate inappropriate content and behaviour, TikTok has a robust set of Community Guidelines in place. TikTok has a zero tolerance policy for harmful content that incites violence against other users or any content that violates its Community Guidelines, and it goes to great lengths to ensure its users’ safety and well-being. The Community Guidelines are available in both English and Urdu.

TikTok’s commitment to digital safety is reinforced by the Safety Ambassadors Program, as the platform continues to address the industry-wide issue of online and offline user safety. The campaign also serves as a reminder of TikTok’s proactive efforts to educate users about safety, misinformation, and the importance of authentic content.
