Over the years, it has earned cult status, cementing its place as one of the most memorable pieces of Pakistani entertainment. Even after more than a decade, it remains a benchmark for comedy dramas in the country.

The Storyline

At its core, Quddusi Sahab Ki Bewah revolves around two families sharing an old house, one occupying the upper floor as landlords and the other living downstairs as tenants.

The primary focus is on the tenant family led by Shakooran Quddusi, the titular widow of Quddusi Sahab. She lives with her three daughters: Khajista Jahan, Badreeqa Jahan, and Shagoofta Jahan and her only son, Wadood Ahmed.

Constantly worried about her financially dependent and somewhat incompetent children, Shakooran is determined to marry off Khajista and Wadood as soon as possible to lessen her burden.

Ironically, Badreeqa (the family’s main breadwinner) is the one desperate to get married, which Shakooran wants to prevent at all costs. Unknown to her, Badreeqa is already secretly married and struggles to find the right time to reveal the truth.

Enter Aqeela, a wedding consultant who manipulates Shakooran’s desperation for her own profit, making the situation even messier.

Parallel to this is the landlord’s household that features Aleem-ud-Din and his wife, Nunhi. The landlord’s son and his wife, Rooh Afza, also live in this house. The couple is just more chaos and more entertainment for the viewers.

As absurd as it sounds, that absurdity is the beauty of the show. Here is an iconic clip from the show:
