Karachi has often been criticized for low crowds in cricket matches be it international matches or PSL matches. And the ongoing PSL season 9 is no different.

PSL 9’s Karachi leg kicked off with Karachi Kings’ match against Islamabad United, which saw low attendance. The same situation followed in the next match between Karachi Kings and Quetta Gladiators.

There are multiple reasons for the low attendance in Karachi’s National Stadium during matches. However, renowned TV personality Fakhar-e-Alam recently shed light on the major reason for the lower crowd attendance in Karachi.

Fakhar-e-Alam and Wasim Akram Blames Karachi Traffic

Alam shared the chaotic experience he and cricket legend Wasim Akram faced while trying to reach the National Stadium to watch Karachi vs Quetta clash along with other former cricketers.

In a candid X post, they detailed the frustrating ordeal caused by a lack of defined routes, road closures, and massive traffic congestion.

Their desire to watch a cricket match turned into a nightmare as they navigated through closed-off roads and containers, encountering severe traffic jams along the way.

Fakhar-e-Alam called upon authorities to devise a sensible traffic flow plan for smoother movement of spectators.

Expressing frustration, Fakhar-e-Alam stated, “We tried our best to reach the National Stadium Karachi, and it was a terrible experience.

“No defined routes anywhere, and every side we attempted was closed off with containers, causing massive traffic congestion.

“Authorities are requested to make a sensible traffic flow plan. This is why crowds are missing in Karachi. Most people just can’t get to the stadium.”

The video highlighted the challenges faced by individuals, even those with special passes and stickers, indicating serious concerns about accessibility for the general public.

Additionally, Wasim Akram also echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the logistical hurdles that deterred them from reaching the stadium.

“Now I understand why people do not go to the stadium in Karachi,” said Akram.
