The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchises are leaving no stone unturned to elevate the status and competitiveness of PSL season 10, especially in the face of a potential clash with the cash-rich Indian Premier League (IPL).
Due to Pakistan hosting the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, PSL 10 is reportedly slated to take place from April 7 to May 20. However, IPL is also held in the same window, prompting PCB to make extra efforts to make PSL 10 captivating for the audience.
To bolster the event’s allure and attract a global audience, PCB and PSL management are eyeing an array of star players from across the globe.
In a bid to rival the star-studded rosters of the IPL, the PCB and PSL franchises have initiated the process of shortlisting prominent players hailing from cricketing powerhouses like Australia, England, South Africa, and more.
The PCB will also allow the franchise a marquee player before the PSL Draft. The PCB will also offer financial support to franchises over signing marquee players.
Former Australian captain Steve Smith, New Zealand Test skipper Tim Southee, and ex-England captain Joe Root are among the marquee names targeted for the draft.
The list of players further includes Australia’s Josh Hazlewood, Josh Inglis, Sean Abbott, and Daniel Sams. Along with Root, England’s Adil Rashid, Ben Duckett, Alex Hales, Chris Jordan, and Sam Billings will also be part of the season.
New Zealand star batter Finn Allen as well as Colin Munro, Kyle Jamieson, Adam Milne, and Ish Sodhi will also be seen in action. Meanwhile, from South Africa, Rassie Van Der Dussen, Tabraiz Shamsi, and Reeza Hendricks are on target of PSL franchises.
