The interim government has revealed a significant increase in the costs of petroleum products, setting new record highs for both petrol and high-speed diesel.

According to a statement from the Finance Division, petrol’s price will rise by Rs. 17.50 per liter, and high-speed diesel will surge by Rs. 20 per liter.

The Finance Division’s brief notice mentioned that global petroleum prices surged over the past two weeks, prompting a revision in consumer prices within Pakistan. Post the adjustment, petrol will be priced at Rs. 290.45 per liter, and high-speed diesel will be sold at Rs. 293.40 per liter.

In the previous review, conducted just before the change in government, petrol’s cost was raised by Rs. 19.95 per liter, and high-speed diesel witnessed an increase of 19.90 per liter. The hike, enacted on August 1st, elevated petrol to Rs. 272.95 per liter and high-speed diesel to Rs. 273.40 per liter.
