Prime Min­ister Imran Khan is lau­nching the cash disbursal program today (Monday) under the Ehsaas Emergency Cash. The disbursal is for workers who are worst affected by the coronavirus crisis and have ended up losing their jobs.

According to the Prime Ministers Office, it is said that they have received over 3.4 million applications of jobless people through the Ehsaas Labour Portal. Moreover, it is said that more than Rs.3 billion have so far been donated in the PM COVID-19 Fund, and the pledges continue to be realized.

Furthermore, the prime minister has also assured that for each rupee provided by donors, Rs4 will be committed by the government. The prime minister will be present at an Ehsaas camp where the first batch of affected individuals will receive the Ehsaas Emergency Cash.



Prime Minister, Imran Khan, has launched a relief scheme for people who have lost their jobs during the COVI-19 pandemic as the lockdown in the country continues to curb the spread of the virus. The Corona Relief Fund is meant to provide relief to those who are facing a lot of difficulties during this time.

The PM assured the public that the Corona Relief Fund would be spent in a completely transparent manner. Registration for the Ehsaas Cash program has begun, the scheme will provide the needy with Rs.12,000 as support against the pandemic.

The government has also decided to completely open the construction and other industries to save people from losing their jobs. Laborers and waiters who work in restaurants who lost their jobs recently would get the Relief fund, but they would need to provide proof of their previous employment

The Prime Minister said,

“I thank all those who have deposited money in the PM Corona Relief Fund. I assure you that this amount will be spent transparently. You will be told where this amount has been spent. I am myself monitoring it and will provide complete audit details.”

The PM also added that the government would contribute Rs4 on every donated one rupee in the relief fund to maximize the number of funds.

PM Khan also mentioned other ways in which the government has already provided relief to the people such as: 

  • The decrease in oil prices within a month where petrol has declined by Rs. 30 per liter, diesel by Rs. 42 and kerosene by Rs. 45 per liter.
  • The chief secretaries of all provinces have been directed to reduced prices of all the commodities associated with oil prices to provide maximum relief.

Special Assistant to the PM on Social Protection and Poverty Alleviation, Dr. Sania Nishtar explained that a web portal had been set up. The applications would only be accepted through the web portal. She further mentioned that a total of Rs. 81 Billion had already been disbursed to 6.8 million families in just 2 to 3 days under the Ehsaas Programme.
