But hold on. Before you start picturing farewell speeches and press conferences, let’s set the record straight — he’s not going anywhere.
Floating Rumours
Over the past few days, reports started swirling that Naqvi might resign from his role as Chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). Why? Because he was just appointed as the President of the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) — a major achievement in itself.
But according to a PCB official who spoke to a local news outlet on Monday, the rumours are completely baseless.
“There is no truth to the reports about Mr. Naqvi’s resignation,” the official clarified.
“He continues to perform his duties as PCB Chairman and remains fully committed to the development of Pakistan cricket.”
Let’s be honest: managing both the PCB and ACC sounds like a massive task. But the PCB says it’s nothing unusual. In fact, the official pointed out that holding dual roles is not uncommon and can be handled with proper time management.
A Moment or Honour
“It is an honour for Pakistan that our representative is leading the ACC,” they added.
“Mr. Naqvi has no intention of stepping down from the PCB at this stage.”
And they’ve got a point. Having a Pakistani heading the Asian Cricket Council after 17 years (yep, the last one was in 2008) is a proud moment. It puts Pakistan right at the heart of Asian cricket’s decision-making.

Mohsin Naqvi took over as PCB Chairman in February 2024 and has been involved in shaping the future of Pakistan cricket ever since. Now, he’s also set to officially begin his ACC role on April 3, 2025, taking over from Sri Lanka’s Shammi Silva.
“His appointment ushers in a new chapter of leadership for Asian cricket,” the ACC said in their official statement.
In times when Pakistan cricket is looking for stability, vision, and strong leadership, having Naqvi at the helm of both the PCB and ACC is a big deal. It shows trust, credibility, and gives Pakistan a bigger voice in regional cricket affairs.
