The victim recounts the traumatic experience of being involved in the mishap. Despite booking a paragliding ride online. The victim and her family found themselves in a precarious situation upon arrival at HMR Waterfront. The rush to accommodate the last participant of the day resulted in hasty equipment checks. Ultimately leading to catastrophic consequences.

Victim’s Traumatic Experience

After a mere 2.5 minutes in the air, the parachute malfunctioned, entangling in the fan and causing an abrupt halt. Resulting in a terrifying plunge into the sea. The victim’s struggle for survival ensued. Exacerbated by the absence of rescue protocols at the Karachi Gliding Club. It was only through sheer luck that a private speed boat, owned by a doctor from South City, came to her rescue.

The aftermath of the incident left the victim with severe injuries. Including multiple fractures in her back, ribcage damage, and trapped air in her lungs. A lengthy surgical procedure at AKUH. Involving the implantation of two Harrington rods and twelve screws, marked the beginning of a grueling recovery journey.

Amidst expressions of sympathy and prayers for the victim’s speedy recovery, the incident has ignited a crucial conversation about the state of adventure tourism in Pakistan. Concerned citizens are questioning the accountability of authorities and the absence of robust safety measures in place.
