The Pakistan women’s cricket team made history in Dunedin by securing their maiden series victory against the New Zealand women’s team. Before December 2023, New Zealand had a perfect 8-0 record against Pakistan in T20Is, but two consecutive wins reversed the trend for the Pakistani team.

In the first game at the same venue, the Girls in Green triumphed by 7 wickets. Following that success, they secured a 10-run victory in the second game, claiming a decisive 2-0 lead in the series.

Pakistan restricted the hosts to 127/7 after posting 137/6 themselves. Aalia Riaz contributed 32 runs off 22 deliveries, hitting one shot beyond the boundary and three boundaries, while opener Muneeba Ali scored 35.

Despite New Zealand being at 89/6 due to disciplined Pakistani bowling, Georgia Pimmer and Hamma Rowe staged a fightback. However, falling short by 10 runs, they couldn’t overturn the game, as Fatima Sana defended 17 runs in the last over.

Fatima Sana took 3 wickets, with Sadia Iqbal dismissing 2 players during the match.
