A new trailer for Berlin, Netflix’s upcoming Money Heist spinoff drama, teases a fresh plot featuring a high-stakes diamond heist and discloses the show’s premiere date. Money Heist, created by Lex Pina, debuted on Netflix in 2017 and instantly became a significant hit for the streaming service. Money Heist: Korea – Joint Economic Area, a spinoff of the famous Spanish-language show, was launched last year. Now, Berlin, a spinoff based on the original show’s character of the same name, is planned to expand the series’ universe even further.

Following a quick glimpse of Berlin’s new ensemble last autumn, Netflix has today released another peek at the second impending spinoff.

What does the teaser reveal?

The brief teaser shows Pedro Alonso, who last appeared as Berlin, alias Andres de Fonolloso, in Money Robbery season 5, back in motion preparing a fresh heist. The trailer implies that Berlin will be pulling out a meticulously planned jewel robbery in “the city of love,” and that a mysterious woman may play an important role in the plot. The trailer also says that the show would be released in December of this year.

Berlin gave his life during Season 2 of Money Heist, but the character was so popular that he reappeared in Seasons 3–5 in different flashback scenes. Because the character is officially deceased during the present timeframe of the main program, Berlin will function as a prequel, charting a huge robbery that he performs before meeting the Professor (lvaro Morte), Denver (Jaime Lorente), Tokyo (rsula Corberó), and the rest of the gang. The usage of the phrase “city of love” by Netflix appears to imply that Paris will be a major background for Berlin’s grand diamond robbery.

Love, it appears, will play a significant part in Berlin. Pina, who also created Berlin, recently stated that the program will be “a journey through the character’s golden period, when he stole across Europe insane in love.” He also hinted that the impending spinoff will be shockingly hilarious, a contrast from the mother-ship series’ normally more somber tone.

In addition to Alonso, the Money Heist spinoff will have an outstanding ensemble of new characters, including Marcel Gonzalez, Miko Jarry, Tristán Ulloa, Michelle Jenner, Julio Pea, and Begoa Vargas. It’s unknown whether any fan-favorite characters from the original show will return, but several recognised faces are most likely going to appear. As the premiere date approaches, Netflix is likely to disclose additional details about Berlin, including a full-length trailer.

Who will Star in the prequel?

Along with Alonso, who will reprise his character from the original show, Michelle Jenner will play Keila, Begoa Vargas will play Cameron, Julio Pea will play Roi, Tristán Ulloa will play Damián, and Joel Sánchez will play Bruce. There is a potential that we will see additional original series stars, but that remains to be seen. Pina, David Oliva, David Barrocal, and Esther Martinez Lobato co-wrote the series.
