The PSL 9 will be the first time a franchise team featuring three brothers as Naseem Shah and his two brothers are part of Islamabad United.

Islamabad United picked Naseem Shah’s brothers, Hunain Shah and Ubaid Shah, during PSL 9 Draft, aligning them in the same colors their star fast bowler adorns.

Hunain, aged 20, recognized for his active participation in domestic cricket over the past two years, while Ubaid’s prowess in junior-level cricket and standout performance in the ongoing U19 Asia Cup earned him his place.

This marks a historic moment in PSL history as the trio of Shah brothers congregate within a single team, sparking anticipation about the possibility of witnessing them playing together on the field.

Dismissing any insinuation of favoritism or influence, Naseem Shah addressed the media in Lahore, asserting, “I am not the chief selector; I cannot bring my brothers into the team.”

He emphasized their merit, highlighting their individual efforts and dedication that earned them recognition in the cricketing sphere.

Hunain Shah has played 14 T20 matches and picked 17 wickets at 21.88. Meanwhile Ubaid Shah has picked 14 wickets from six one-day games at under-19 level.

Transitioning from Quetta Gladiators to Islamabad United in the recent draft, Naseem expressed his optimism for the upcoming season, acknowledging the novelty of the new team while hoping for a successful outing in season nine.

Reflecting on the challenges ahead, the young pacer acknowledged the competitive nature of the league, particularly citing the difficulty of making a comeback post-injury. “We’ll face formidable batters in PSL, presenting a compelling challenge for bowlers,” he added, emphasizing the test that awaits him and his teammates.
