The T20 World Cup 2024 has been a roller coaster for Pakistan cricket team, and emotions are running high. After two disappointing losses in their three matches, the team is on the brink of an early exit.

Meanwhile, PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi recently took a U-turn from his previous statement and is now calling for national support for the team.

Earlier this week, Naqvi did not hold back his criticism after Pakistan’s defeat against India. He expressed his disappointment, suggesting that significant changes were needed within the team.

“It seemed that a minor surgery would work, but after this bad performance, I’m now sure that a major surgery is required. The nation will soon see a major overhaul,” Naqvi had stated. He hinted at internal discord and groupings within the squad, adding to the drama.

Despite his strong words, Naqvi has shifted his stance. Speaking to a local news outlet outside the Parliament House on Wednesday, he urged fans to support the team and wait for the tournament’s conclusion.

“The consultation is ongoing and it is not appropriate to discuss [the matter] further at this juncture,” Naqvi said.

When asked about potential measures following the team’s poor performance, Naqvi advised patience. He emphasized that there are still matches to be played and stressed the importance of national support. “We have to move ahead with the current squad,” he insisted.

Mohsin Naqvi reassured fans that the team needs their backing now more than ever. Everyone is hoping and praying for the team’s success as the tournament progresses. It’s crucial for the nation to rally behind the players and show their support in these challenging times.

Pakistan is set to face Ireland on June 16 in their last group match. They need to win this match with good margin and hope that prior to that USA lose their match against Ireland with a good margin, so that Pakistan can qualify for Super 8.
