Melbourne Renegades have pulled off what can only be described as a major draft day masterstroke—securing the services of Pakistan’s seasoned wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan in the BBL 15 Platinum category.
And if you ask the Renegades’ General Manager James Rosengarten, he’s absolutely thrilled about it.

Speaking on a podcast shortly after the BBL 15 draft, Rosengarten didn’t hold back his excitement.
“To bring in a player of Mohammad Rizwan’s calibre at Pick 3 is a massive win for us,” he said.
Rizwan’s reputation precedes him. He’s known for calmness under pressure, leadership skills, and an uncanny ability to read the game—traits that Rosengarten believes will fit right into the culture and ambitions of the Renegades.
“He’s reliable, experienced, and a calm presence both on and off the field. He has successfully led teams and will be a great fit for the squad we’re building.”

Rizwan’s arrival also solves a big piece of the Renegades’ top-order jigsaw puzzle.
“What makes Rizwan so valuable is his ability to anchor an innings while keeping the scoreboard ticking,” Rosengarten explained.
With Jake Fraser-McGurk, Josh Brown, and Tim Seifert forming an already dynamic core, Rizwan’s presence adds both balance and depth. And let’s not forget—he’s a world-class wicketkeeper.
“Having both Rizwan and Tim behind the stumps gives us flexibility. Both will bring great energy to the field,” added Rosengarten.

As for the man himself, Mohammad Rizwan kept it simple, humble, and heartfelt—like he always does.

Wearing jersey No. 16, Rizwan promised to give his all and looked forward to connecting with fans.
