The Sindh government is most likely to shut down mobile services on 9th & 10th of Moharram, reports Geo News.

Home Minister Sindh Sohail Anwar Khan Siyal has requested the interior ministry to suspend mobile services in light of the security reasons in the city during 9th & 10th Moharram processions.

The services are most likely to stay suspended until the Ashura processions end.

Ban on Pillion Riding

What is more, Pillion riding has been banned since Saturday until 10th Moharram (Wednesday).

In other news, strict measures have been taken in Karachi and other cities to ensure security in Muharram processions both in Karachi and in other cities of Sindh province.

Security Beefed up in the nation!

In order to maintain peace and harmony and avoid problems, mishaps, and terrorist attacks during Muharram, Punjab Police has decided to deploy 124,537 personnel and special units of police.

124,537 police officers/officials would be deployed to provide security to 36,216 majlis (religious congregations) and 9,137 processions. Around 37,398 police volunteers, 5,580 members of special police units and 85,515 volunteers are deployed for the month of Muharram.

Processions and majalis have been categorized into A, B and C according to their sensitivity and security will then be provided accordingly. Every majlis or procession would be provided four-layered security.

The crackdown against the display of arms, vehicles with tinted glasses, green number plates has already been launched.

Meanwhile, Lahore Police has a comprehensive security plan for over 8,000 processions and majalis during Muharram.
