Kelley Mack, known for her role as Addy in The Walking Dead, died at the age of 33. Born Kelley Klebenow, she passed away peacefully on Saturday in her hometown, Cincinnati. She had been fighting glioma of the central nervous system, a tumour that targets the brain and spinal cord.
Her family shared the news on CaringBridge. They said, “It is with indelible sadness that we are announcing the passing of our dear Kelley. Such a bright, fervent light has transitioned to the beyond, where we all eventually must go.” They also included the same message and a photo on her Instagram.
Shortly after the announcement, friends, fans, and fellow actors paid tribute to the late actor. Alanna Masterson, who worked with her in The Walking Dead, wrote, “What an incredible human. So proud to have fought alongside her in our final episode together.” Many described her as warm, talented, and unforgettable.
Acting Career and Beyond
Kelley built a strong career in both TV and production. She earned 35 acting credits and produced five projects. Viewers recognised her from season 9 of The Walking Dead. She also played Penelope Jacobs in season 8 of Chicago Med and appeared in FOX’s 9-1-1.
In addition to her acting, Kelley featured in several national commercials. Brands like Dr. Pepper, Ross, Dairy Queen, and Chick-fil-A cast her in major campaigns. Her passion began early when she received a mini video camera as a birthday gift. That moment sparked her love for storytelling and acting.
She graduated from Hinsdale Central High School. Later, she studied cinematography at Chapman University’s Dodge College of Film and Media Arts. Her academic journey helped shape her storytelling craft.
Kelley leaves behind her parents, Kristen and Lindsay Klebenow, her sister, Kathryn, her brother, Parker, her grandparents, Lois and Larry Klebenow, and her boyfriend, Logan Lanier. Her family added, “Kelley’s legacy will live on through her contributions to film and television, and in the hearts of those who loved her. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered for her talent, kindness and vibrant spirit.”
