According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), portions of Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) are expected to experience rain, thunder, and strong winds on Thursday.

Strong and dusty winds are foreseen in the plain regions of Punjab, the Met Office stated. Talagang, Jhelum, and Rawalpindi are likely to face light rain. Isolated showers with thunder might strike Murree, Galiyat, Attock, and Chakwal mainly in the late evening and night.

During the day, Islamabad and the surrounding areas will remain quite hot. The PMD said, “Thunderstorm-driven rain is possible at a few sites overnight.”

Strong and dusty winds will also strike the plains of KPK. In upper regions like Chitral, Dir, Swat, and Malakand, nocturnal lightning accompanied with rain occur. Thunder-showers in Mansehra, Shangla, Kohistan, and Abbottabad can also be anticipated.

Dry and very hot temperatures will linger over most of Sindh. Cities like Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, and Larkana will stay warm. The PMD said that Balochistan areas would also experience above-normal temperatures with similar dry and hot conditions.

The meteorological office cautioned that there would be ongoing heatwave-like weather in these southern regions. People must stay hydrated. During peak afternoon hours, particularly in locations under extreme heat, the public should limit outside activity.

For Sindh and Balochistan, there are no indicators of imminent weather change. For the moment, thunder and rain are limited to central and northern Pakistan.

The weather systems imply that some relief would come for Punjab and KP only by nighttime and evening storms. The PMD’s warning also reminded residents to take safety measures.
