Moreover, according to other reports also, Khan will be playing a role in Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy’s directorial, Ms.Marvel. Many other Pakistani renowned faces will also be joining Khan on this adventure.
More About Ms.Marvel
Ms. Marvel is set to be directed by a crew of four – Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, Meera Menon, Adil El Arbi, and Bilall Fallah. The series essentially focuses on Kamala Khan, a Pakistani-American teen based in New Jersey.
Moreover, she will also become Marvel Studios’ first onscreen Muslim hero.
Why Ms.Marvel Matters
Kamala Khan is a great leap forward for Muslim representation on the international screen. Kamala Khan is a personality who can be relatable and accessible for many young girls and also boys in the South Asian community.
This matters because young Muslim children when they see such comics, need to see their counterparts on the screen. This can make them feel seen, heard and understood and give them the confidence to own their identity.
In the day and age where Islamophobia is on the rise, this is of great importance. Moreover, the fact that this is going to be directed by a Pakistani powerhouse, Chinoy, with Pakistani actors is also phenomenal. We can not wait to see Pakistan make their mark!
