Punjab Kings, an IPL franchise, playfully trolled Pakistan’s left-arm pacer, Shaheen Afridi, after India secured a six-run victory over Australia in the final T20I.

India’s Shreyas Iyer notched a half-century, while fast bowlers Mukesh Kumar and Arshdeep Singh claimed a total of five wickets, guiding the home side to triumph on Sunday.

India won the T20I series 4-1 against the same opponents who crushed their World Cup dreams by defeating them in the final last month.

Australia, pursuing a target of 160 in Bangalore, seemed poised for victory with Ben McDermott’s impressive 54. Yet, their chase took a turn when the 28-year-old attempted a big shot against Arshdeep (2-40), resulting in a catch at long-off.

McDermott’s dismissal was followed by Kumar’s swift double blow (3-32), leaving Australia struggling at 129-7. Arshdeep’s final over was a standout, conceding only three runs and dismissing visiting captain Matthew Wade.

After the match, Arshdeep’s IPL side Punjab Kings shared a video of Arshdeep dismissing Wade on the social media platform X, accompanied by the caption, “Not against this 𝐥𝐞𝐟𝐭-𝐚𝐫𝐦 𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐫, Matthew Wade.”

In a light-hearted reference, Punjab Kings alluded to Shaheen Afridi’s past encounter where Wade struck three consecutive sixes against him in the 2021 T20 World Cup semi-final, propelling Australia into the finals.
