India's Officially Changing Its Name To 'Bharat' Soon

India is considering changing its official name to “Bharat,” as reported by Indian media sources. This potential shift became evident when India’s President, Droupadi Murmu, referred to herself as the “President of Bharat” rather than the customary “President of the Republic of India” in an official invitation to G20 leaders.

India to change its name officially

The proposed name change is expected to be a topic of discussion during a Special Session of Parliament. It seems to be motivated by a desire to differentiate the nation from the Indian political coalition.

Himanta Biswa Sarma, the Chief Minister of Assam, expressed his approval of this possible change on social media, hailing it as a proud step in the country’s cultural development.

However, not everyone is in favor of the move. Jairam Ramesh, a Congress politician, criticized the Modi administration, considering it an infringement on the Indian Constitution.

Ramesh stated on social media, “Modi can continue to divide India, which is Bharat, a Union of States, and distort history. But we will not back down. After all, what are Indian parties hoping to achieve? BHARAT stands for ‘Bring Harmony, Amity, Reconciliation, and Trust.’ ‘Judega BHARAT, Jeetega INDIA!'”

As this potential name change continues to generate discussion and debate, the nation waits to see if it will officially become “Bharat” in the future.
