imad-wasim-is-not-my-competition-shadab-khan

Pakistani all-rounder Shadab Khan has responded to the buzz surrounding the return of fellow all-rounder Imad Wasim to the national team, emphasizing that he does not see Imad as competition for his place in the squad.

Imad recently announced his comeback from international retirement, expressing his availability for the upcoming T20 World Cup.

However, Shadab Khan remains undeterred by the prospect of Imad’s return and maintains a positive outlook.

“I never considered him [Imad] as competition or a threat to my position in the team. Whatever Allah has destined for him or me will unfold accordingly,” Shadab remarked during an interview with a local news channel.

Shadab stressed the importance of selection based on form and performance rather than personal rivalries.

He emphasized the need for players who are in good form and can contribute positively to Pakistan’s success to be included in the team.

“Whoever is performing well and is beneficial for Pakistan’s team should be part of the squad. Such thoughts of competition never crossed my mind,” Shadab asserted.

Shadab also revealed that he has not contemplated the possibility of leading the Pakistan team in the future.

He cautioned against hasty decisions regarding captaincy changes, advocating for stability and continuity in leadership.

“I haven’t given much thought to becoming the captain of the national team yet. We often tend to rush into changes, believing that swapping one captain for another will solve everything,” he explained.

Shadab also voiced his support for current T20I captain Shaheen Afridi, dismissing suggestions of replacing him after just one series.

He emphasized the importance of giving captains adequate time to establish themselves and to lead the team effectively.

“Constantly changing captains won’t lead to improvements. We need to be patient and supportive of Shaheen, who has been given the captaincy for just one series.”

“It’s premature to talk about replacing him,” Shadab concluded, highlighting the need for stability and trust in leadership for Pakistan’s cricketing success.
