Hasan Ali made a surprising revelation about Australian batter Usman Khawaja during the Aussies’ Test tour to Pakistan in December 2022.
Khawaja, born in Islamabad and familiar with Urdu, allegedly shared the Pakistan team’s strategies and plans with the Australian team during their Test tour in 2022.
Hasan disclosed that, as a precaution, the Pakistan team has now refrained from discussing their plans in front of Khawaja.
“Usman bhai is well-versed in Urdu,” Hasan stated, “but after he leaked our strategies to the Australia cricket team in Karachi, we’re more careful. We’ve decided not to discuss plans in Urdu in his presence to ensure our strategies remain confidential. We’ll strategize away from him,” Hasan mentioned in an interview with Cricket Australia (CA).
Hasan Ali further discussed the challenges faced by South Asian teams in Australia, especially bowling in tough conditions.

“It’s a challenge for all South Asian teams to pick 20 wickets during Australian tours. The pitches in Australia differ from those in other cricketing nations, and the local players’ familiarity often poses issues for visiting squads,” he added.
Hasan also expressed admiration for Australian skipper Pat Cummins, recently successful in guiding the team to the World Test Championship and World Cup, praising him as the best bowler in Australia’s current squad.
“Pat Cummins is exceptional, excelling in all three formats. Both Shaheen Afridi from Pakistan and Pat Cummins from Australia are skilful bowlers, mastering the art of bowling with new and semi-new balls.
“Australian cricket fans have shown support for Pakistan, notably during the recent ICC Men’s T20 World Cup held in Australia, except for the India game.
“Fans eagerly anticipate watching cricketing greats like Steve Smith, David Warner, Shaheen Afridi, and Babar Azam, supporting the spirit of good cricket,” he concluded.
