mohammad-hafeez-took-two-months-to-convince-babar-azam

Mohammad Hafeez, the Director of the Pakistan team, expressed confidence in the batting prowess of Babar Azam after relinquishing the captaincy.

During a pre-tour press conference ahead of Pakistan’s Australia tour, Hafeez shared his perspectives.

“Babar Azam’s significant role as a batter for Pakistan cannot be understated. Being relieved from captaincy will alleviate pressure, allowing him to focus solely on his batting performance,” said Hafeez.

Hafeez emphasized the undeniable pressure that captaincy imposes on a player, acknowledging that this change will likely enhance the batting of Babar Azam.

“Releasing this burden [of captaincy] can potentially elevate his [Babar Azam] already impressive contributions to Pakistan cricket, furthering our success,” he added.

The director highlighted the camaraderie of Babar Azam with teammates and new Test captain Shan Masood. Moreover, he emphasized on the importance of their unity for collective success against Australia.

Discussing his role as the team director, Hafeez emphasized a focus on modern cricket tactics, aiming to address the team’s past shortcomings. “Our goal is clear – we’re focused on playing modern-day cricket, aiming for improved outcomes collectively,” he elaborated.

Pakistan’s cricket schedule includes a challenging three-match Test series against Australia. The series will kick off on December 14, 2023, and conclude on January 7, 2024.
